This is such a deep flaw in the COD4 protocol that fixing it would literally break everything.

Bad publicity and lawsuits can totally make unfixable things be fixed very quickly. Especially when you have a massive company and a office full of code monkeys who are doing the work.

You wont get added to cheaters.cfg for using the verison(s) posted in here, it doesn't bypass ScriptEnforcer so it's just like any other Lua hack.

I think what seth did is a good thing, he should be hired, it'd build up immunity to the hacks/bugs you can cause to Garry's Mod.

Also, stop with the CoD4 thing. I very much doubt CoD4 is the main issue when ddosing a website like facepunch. Also, IW could fix it and have had multiple fixes sent to them. The main one being a small server side code change to limit the amount of requests a specific ip can receive from the server for a set time interval.
The main hits to hurt a web domain would be shells/multiple drdos forms/syn flood and slowloris maybe. A fair few simple booters over at hackforums have started selling slowloris hits.

You're silly, the LUA code which was leaked can not get you banned from Garry or VAC as it doesn't use a DLL. However, if you use the original sethhack which is loaded via a module aka injected, you will get caught.

Lua-based script enforcer disablers CAN get you banned by Garry's system.
That's the whole fucking point of it, as Garry already flagged some modules as cheats for VAC before.

I'm just going from experience, I know several people who have done it on the gmod 13 beta - which as far as I know cannot load custom dll modules.

Scriptenforcer isn't working at all on gmod13 (well, for me). It blocked net, umsg, glon and other libraries on my server

It was quite early on.
And I could probably think of a few ways to bypass SE, but I don't even play GMod let alone have the time to waste fiddling around with Lua.
Bypassing SE aka by overriding the functions in C++ nothing else will get you banned.
