• Seth hack surce code leaked! v2
    324 replies, posted
My provider OK'd not suspending my service when they get a DMCA from "Seth." They'll forward me the report and won't suspend it unless I don't respond or two days pass. Seth, come out with your real information in the DMCA and I'll take it down. Yes, I'll verify with Garry when one comes in. Edit: guys, we have enough mirrors.

http://pastebin.com/d4SkmZnY Still up and dandy, but I'm sure it's already been posted
hooray for cloudflare
Guys, you can stop posting links. The code isn't going anywhere. It's all over the net and on everyone hard drive now, there is no point in continually spamming with more mirrors.
Thank god for CloudFlare right now, did anyone experience brokepunch just before the downtime?
Wait, garry, could you please tell if this is a fake dmca or not:
snip I didn't see you snipped the address.
http://i.imgur.com/VIWn7.png Open in Notepad
idea: do the same thing as with that image but instead use it on avatars or profile pictures and upload those on any and all forums and boards all over the internet (except maybe FP) voila, thousands of mirrors (at least too many for Seth to handle with his silly takedown requests)
Thank god for CloudFlare right now, did anyone experience brokepunch just before the downtime?
this always happens for me on the phone.
Guys I think we don't need any more links.
Guys I think we don't need any more links.
Seth is just going to fuck your dropbox to your limit. If you do upload it to dropbox, take out everything in your folder. This will make it harder for him to get rid of it.
He will just DoS your dropbox. So remove everything but the text file.
"DoS your dropbox"
idea: do the same thing as with that image but instead use it on avatars or profile pictures and upload those on any and all forums and boards all over the internet (except maybe FP) voila, thousands of mirrors (at least too many for Seth to handle with his silly takedown requests)
Surely doing it in an image is just the same legally as posting the code directly?
"DoS your dropbox"
It wouldn't be too difficult if you're still on the 10 GB bandwidth limit.
Just an FYI guys, there is such thing as a counter-takedown request. You just have to send it to the service provider (In this case Dropbox) as a former complaint stating why the DMCA takedown notice is not legally abiding. Here's two reasons, just to help you out, one, Seth is not American (I'm not so sure about this, if he's not American the takedown notice is not legally binding at all), two:
I, Seth Kozusnik, certify under penalty of perjury, that I am the owner or an agent authorized to act on behalf of the owner of certain intellectual property rights.
Under penalty of perjury he just certified that some Seth Kozusnik (Contradicting the previous information about his name and such) is the owner of SethHack. Quoting Wikipedia, this is what the "put-back" notice must contain: 1. Your contact information 2. Identification of the removed item 3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the material was mistakenly taken down 4. A statement consenting to the jurisdiction of your local US Federal District Court, or, if outside the US, to a US Federal District Court in any jurisdiction in which the original service provider is found. 5. Your signature
Surely doing it in an image is just the same legally as posting the code directly?
Perfectly legal because he hasn't got a PAID copyright on it? [editline]27th May 2012[/editline]
Seth is not American (I'm not so sure about this, if he's not American the takedown notice is not legally binding at all)
Well that doesn't matter, what matters is that it isn't copyrighted in the USA which means he shouldn't even be able to use DMCA takedown notices and I'm sure if that was mentioned to the providers of sites receiving these notices they would ignore it then.
Perfectly legal because he hasn't got a PAID copyright on it?
You don't have to pay for copyright anymore, anything you create is automatically copyrighted to you as long as it meets certain conditions (fixation, originality, creativity). I'm no lawyer but it looks like the SethHack source does meet them. My point is if the takedown notices were valid, surely putting the code in an image file doesn't mean it's no longer violating his copyright, so can still be taken down.. I'm not saying it isn't worth doing, but you may as well save yourself the effort and just put the direct code up instead. Although I suppose it would be advantageous having it in image form as it can be shared more easily (avatars on forums/steam(?)/etc).
It wouldn't be too difficult if you're still on the 10 GB bandwidth limit.
I'm on the 10 GB Bandwidth limit. And the only thing I had was photos and that one fucking text file. So how else did my dropbox reach that limit? I know it sounds idiotic.

We should focus on getting the word out about this, we have enough mirrors now. Try e-mailing people at PC Gamer, Rock Paper Shotgun or Shacknews. I have already sent one to Rock Paper Shotgun, do your part too. The more e-mails they get about the story, the more likely they'll publish it.

All DMCA shit is false, that is not his real name and he does not live in the US. He is pretty much as bad as RIAA :v:

Plus if he's a minor he can't even sue anyone.
