The reason PHX3 and Wire aren't on gmod.org is because they aren't actually finished yet. If and when the developers announce a new version, then they most likely will upload it, until then SVN is the best way to get them.
Wire will never be "finished".
Well that is true actually. They already announced Wire2, and dropped that ages ago as it didn't catch on really. Good old Wire will just be expanded constantly.
-snip, I'm a stupid bastard-
Well got SVN yesterday and it killed my internet. Had to uninstall it then reinstall my Linksys Network monitor.
ಠ_ಠ Yeah thanks for rating me dumb, I have a linksys wireless router and after getting Tortoise SVN my internet died on all my computers. Upon uninstalling it the internet came back for the others but I had to reinstall my Linksys card. The SVN was working bug free for a couple of minutes before the internet died. Is their another SVN I can get that will work just as good?
Coincidence. Try Tortoise again
I'M BACK :D And IWHeadHunder that's really wierd. But I'm sure there are other SVN applications that you can try, but I don't know of any.
One thing you have to know about this client is that after the installation it messes up your right click menu, it looks tinnier, smaller, compressed, and even if you uninstall Tortoise SVN, you will have this crappy menu. Last time I installed it, I had to reinstall Windows...
Only for you then. Mine looks just like usual.
So your Windows is kinda strange. Look at the pics the author posted. See the space between menus? It's really reduced compared to the real Windows, also, see the bright color? It's not that bright usually. Look at my menu :

Secondly, I'M the author of the thread.

thx or should i say "tack" very nice tutorial...
Bumping, because great things deserve more attention. Also, thanks for putting all those SVN links at the bottom of your post there. Saves me time fishin'.
I agree. Someone tried making another tutorial because this one "was buried under pages of stuff" This was on the 2nd page... Also, their tutorial was wrong, never mentioned exporting, and said you should download directly to your addons...
i cant get wire to work!
i cant get wire to work!
Then you've doing something wrong (Stating the obvious here...) We can't really help you if you don't give us more to go on.
Thanks alot, Just used this to play evo 2 :D
TRICK: Instead of right-clicking the SVN-folder > export > trudging through dirictories to find your Addons folder... You can Right-click-DRAG the Folder to your Addons (or wherever you want to put it). It will give you an option to "SVN Export all items" =D It does the same as export, ie. Doesnt copy the .svn folders too Big time saver i found Also, theres another option to "SVN export revisioned items"... Which im guessing only moves the modified ones, but i havent tried it yet
if it only moves modified ones, that would be very helpful. Most of my SVN's are things like Wire and SBEP, and take forever

Added the right click and drag thingey to the tutorial :) Also bumping, since one week has passed without posts. Soon I will probably have to start waiting two weeks in between each bump instead... So the mods don't get angry at me :D
Sticky please :)
I think this should be a sticky in Garry's Mod Discussion, Help and Support, the Lua forums, the Model/skin forums, and any other forum that has SVN-able stuff.
Divran, are the .svn directories the only "invisible" ones talked about in the 1st post? What if someone sets the filemanager to view hidden ("invisible") and system files too and "downloads" the addons with SVN, then simply deletes the .svn directories generated by SVN. Will it make any trouble? I mean will this "skip" the speed advance u talked about? Would SVN's "speed advance" help to sumhow evade the timeouts? Here's why i ask this: I have a comp thats config is enuff for Gmod at least i think so cuz the SP of gmod runs smooth, and for the MP i have tweaked my connenction to the max and set the graphics to medium just to make it faster but still get timed out no matter if i go onto a server or start one and it also happens if nothing "extra" is to be downloaded from a server (if i have all files for the server's gamemode).

Has like 2000 folders. Good luck deleting all those manually lol. Secondly, Yes. It would make it non-slowed down. Deleting the invisible .svn folders is what Exporting does. It copies the folder, but leaves the .svn folders. If you delete the invisible .svn folders, the addon turns into a normal addon (Non-svn) so you can no longer use right click -> update on it. Not sure. I've never had the problem where I time out all the time.
Thx 4 the help. I hope this will get me into servers cuz im gettin fed up with the damn timeouts and playin in SP is getting boring no matter if i wanna make a new mode or not.. Wish me luck guys :)
