ValveFags need to approve this damn update mang.
doesn't that require garry to submit the patch first?
But what of those people that only have GMod? ( Don't ask me why they would only have GMod... )
If they only have GMod, they're pirates.
And TF2 is free.
doesn't that require garry to submit the patch first?
judging by the thousands of comments here, he probably did.
judging by the thousands of comments here, he probably did.
I trust his twitter and the GMod homepage more than the people here
How about this simple solution everytime you have gmod opened and some source update happens:
NEVER CLOSE GMOD AT ALL... SO YOU CAN STOP BITCHING
Do you check if there's an update every hour (at least) when you play gmod? I don't and honestly I think you would have to be a really... weird person to do that. Normally you're unaware of an update untill you log on to your steam another day and see it being downloaded. That makes your solution quite useless.
btw. there's more than one downside. If you have a game minimized, it's eating up your computer's processing power all the time. It doesn't make any difference if you are, say, watching a movie or listening to music but if you want to play another game you will notice a drop in the fps. Especially if we're talking about a new game that requires a lot of processing power.

He already did.
Then why on earth is this taking so long?
You know how the approving procedure would look in a normal world? Like this:
-So you have the fix ready?
-Yes, I do.
-Ok, let's see... yup it works fine.
-So will you upload it?
-Yeah, just sign this paper here and we're good to go. Thanks.
BUT apparently we're not in a normal world and somehow they manage to keep us waiting the whole day...

Because it's a big company that has a shitload of games on their platform, where they have to approve updates, check for malicious code and the likes.
I'm playing gmod right now with no issue, every server is empty.
Care to share what you've done to achieve that?
The damn thing still won't launch for me.
He already did.
did what..?
Care to share what you've done to achieve that?

It doesn't bring up that error when I play
Because it's a big company that has a shitload of games on their platform, where they have to approve updates, check for malicious code and the likes.
I refuse to believe that it takes a whole day.
It doesn't bring up that error when I play
Did you update the game today?
I refuse to believe that it takes a whole day.
How would you know, exactly? Do you work for Valve and know their internal processes for publishing updates? Their processes may differ from other companies, you just have to be patient. If you can't live without a game for a day or two, you seriously have a big problem.
How would you know, exactly? Do you work for Valve and know their internal processes for publishing updates?
good point.
If you can't live without a game for a day or two, you seriously have a big problem.
I can. It's just that I've been "in the zone" for the last two days and I'm very close to finishing my car. It's kind of throwing me off my rhytm.
you know what's bad? Italy had 2 goals, germany had none until now.. Thats worse than having to wait for Garrys Mod to work again... HAAAAAX!
off my rhytm.
lol
Anyway, I'm sure we will be seeing a fix soon. This has happened before and it didn't take too long.
Valve, it doesn't release many large updates, but when they do, they don't work.
lol
Ok... I checked in the dictionary. Here's a correct version of that: off my rhythm.
Someone send Valve and email.
check for malicious code and the likes.
I'm fairly certain they don't do that.
Why can't anyone be patient for the next update of Garry's Mod to be announced, it'll might take a few hours but it might be up and working again in no time.
People have gone to the extent to try and fix it? I saw the source update and I knew it would break GMOD from the get go.
Someone send Valve and email.
That won't help anyway.
Garry posted on www.Garrysmod.com that he is working on the problem. Come one guys.

You know the update that caused this problem was released about 18 hours ago
When the update went live, it was late as shit in the UK. Garry was probally passed out.
Any approximate timeframe? When will Garry's Mod be fixed? Hoping to get back on my own server :P:wink:
Riot pls.
