Crysis is not working very well on XP.
On Seven it's working totally HORRIBLY.
10fps on lowest details?
I want to stay with XP.

thats it, although the processor mite be good, my graphics card sucks,
im talking about running DX10, i can run hl2 on full everything on a crappy resolution ( yes i can stand small resolutions) but not gmod. i have an old computer with a 3 ghz processor, 2gb of ram and a 6800...sumthin crap like that, it may not be the worst pc. i can run crysis warhead at very low with an okay famerate.
but if i tryed to run something on DX10, i reckon my computer would struggle....sorry if i went a bit off-topic
Theres your problem, that thing doesn't support DX10. So obviously your aren't going to be able to run it. And your reckoning might be wrong. DX10 is fairly optimized in most games that use it apparently.
Yes. With 5fps.
OR you're talking about a "super-mega-ultra fast PC" from fall 2003.
Super-Mega-Ultra Fast PC from fall 2003. I run at 25-30 FPS.
I think it's fine.
If you can play Crysis, then you don't.
If you can play crysis you wouldn't be here lol you'll be blowing shit up or whatever you can do
i'd rather see garrysmod on a GeoMod 2.0 engine (Red Faction guerilla) That will SO improve the physics. And its so realistic :o

I have 7 too, indeed, crysis won't work. but remember, its still an BETA, not just an windows theu are gunna release. Be happy with beta, so every bug can get out, because if there wont be a beta, youll get an buggy windows :')

You're right.
I bet [NO, I AM NOT SURE!] that's something around GeForce 6600, Pentium 4 3GHz and 1GB of RAM. That should be the Super (...) PC for this date.
How come my characters clothes don't get wet when they are in the water...
And why when things get shot don't they continue to bleed and drop blood droplets?
Why can't I travel back in time in the game to 5 minutes earlirer to replay the event to see what would happen fi i did something different...
Why can't I upload my physical body into the game
water physics? Really?? The challenge...carry the goldfish in his bowl across the room while being shot at but don't spill the water, lose the fish or break the bowl...

i didnt say i wanted to or had tryed to run DX10, i said it WOULDN't be able to run it, im not arsed about it anyway.

okay, thats good. but im sticking with my current rig. its fine for me
Hello, and welcome to the flame war between two formidable foes!
In this corner, we have "The Spoiled Rich Gamers", who seem to think that everyone in America has at least $15,000 on them at any given time, and those with shit computers, even if they were top notch a couple years ago, are just too lazy and incompetent to buy a new computer.
AAAND in THIS corner, we have "The Little People", who insist on sticking with their computers until they're 100% useless, although I'm quite sure they're already 75% of the way there. They are attempting to force Crysis to work correctly on computers that can barely run the latest implementation of the Source engine.
Seriously, you guys, just SHUT THE FUCK UP.
I am HIGHLY tempted to report every post after mine as flaming if one of these factions bashes the other again, and everyone in this thread is in one of these factions.
And if this post gets me banned, then fine. SOMEONE had to man up and say it.

*ahem* we are not flaming, we are discussing, and i am not trying to force crysis to work on my computer, and i am not sticking with this computer until it is dead,( although it is as ramped up as it can get ) we have another computer that can run games better, and then thers my dads..... it has a quadro fx 4500 card and great for everything, including games, its just im not allowed to use that one, im only aloud to use the shitty one :( and sometimes aloud to use the decent one.
and saying your *manning up* to this conversation, is like manning up to grannys talking about budgies. we are NOT flaming eachother, we are purley just discussing, i would apreciate it if you admitted you made a mistake and apologised
oh and btw my computer runs every source game fine, its just when an insane amount of NPC's appear or alot of particles then it struggles, mainly left 4 dead
EDIT: oh yeah, im not american, i live in Scotland :P
Both of you get boxes.

Hey Captain Obvious, You wouldn't be able to run it because you probably don't have anything above a 7000 series card. Thus you also do not have it because you probably don't have Vista.
DX10 allows much cooler effects then DX9, volumetric smoke and wet surfaces for one.
That's cool.

Crysis on high on xp gives me average ~28 frames per second in the GPU benchmark.
7, same settings, same computer, average of ~42 frames per second in the same benchmark. ~24 on dx10.
Yeah, that's all running the 32 bit .exe, the 64 bit one doesn't work on any circumstance.
I've got ~5-10 fps less on 7.
Also, sound is screwed up on 7.

Regardless of you having/not having DX10. Valve needs to put in a serious graphics and physics overhaul. As in, move to using DX10 and implement better physics. Lets start with water that isn't a solid brush, I mean, that can't be that hard. Just waves.
Kybalt, I presume you already invented a way to do this without wasting too much performance and still looking good?
[editline]06:12PM[/editline]
Also, the Source engine is supposed to work on most computers. If they did that, it'd only work onrecent computers. Most likely even that wouldn't be enough, they'd have to be built for gaming.

GTA:SA came out the same year as HL2 (2004) and had water with waves (tides too actually). As for DX10, every card in the 8000 series and above has DX10 support. If you don't have at least an 8000 series card yet, you really should get one. They are 3 generations old. (Not an nvidia fanboy, I just don't know the ATi equivalent of the 8000 series)
For DX10, they could have a DX9 and DX10 mode, like Crysis and any other game that used DX10.
[editline]12:11PM[/editline]
Recent? DX10 has been out for more then two years.
I dont know about that, Valve creates it's engine for HL2 EP3 not for Gmod
And give me one fucking reason why HL2 EP3 needs water physics?
It's not like kleiner will give you a bottle and says: bring me some fucking water?
The game is already as long as it is, No need for it too take even longer before it get's released.
hahaha so true
[editline]12:09PM[/editline]
Has anyone else noticed this? If you place a sealed container into water, it is automatically water logged, leaving you unable to build any under water rooms. If you use the wheel tool and place a fan onto an object, that fan provides zero propulsion against the air.
Even placed in water the fan doesn't do anything of use, it leaves me wondering why put them in? Fans make terrible wheels. On a related subject, thrusters. They provide no backlash or force output from the flames, should you stand behind them. Yet they are perfectly able to blast heavy objects around the map.
Feel free to add your own pet hates with the physics in Gmod.
go easy on him guys he's probably just a 45 year old mingebag who knows nothing about lag XD
Why are you even complaining!? If you had seen your faces when you compared HL1 to HL2.... Tut tut tut.
*Gives himself dumb rating

Well lets see. H1 was released in 1999. HL2 was released in 2004. It's 2009, where is my epic engine that bests every other game on the market as HL1 and HL2 did?
True. Guess everyone is just going one step at a time when it comes to making a game revolutionary.
Is there even a game with realistic water physics? seriously, if you want good physics go to your sink and fill up a cup with water.

This is the best, the most useful, and the most intelligent post of the entire thread.
I know!
TF2! When you pull out Jarate, watch what happens inside jar.
On the other hand, it's not realistic. It's default animation.

i agree with this, but they are probably working on it, also it would be good if they had an option to enable/disable DX10 rendering, because sadly not everyone can afford or be bothered to buy a card capable of running DX10 perfectly.
water physics is possible, look at blender, and a game coming out later in the year ( i think ) called hydrophobia, i dont think it can make air bubble by putting something in upside down, but it replicates water pretty good.
