I have an idea, but I don't know much about source so this may not work, but heres my idea: I know that gravity only goes down in source, so you have to make planets with only one side but there is this sent called a "black hole" that sucks things in. Now, I know it doesn't work on players, but if your in a vehicle it will suck you in, so my idea is what if you made a "vehicle" that no-clipped to everthing and basically you could do anything you could do normally but now you could be attracted to a force at the center of the planet and then planets could be like normal planets and "suck" you in from all sides. please tell me if this would work. Oh yeah, also you could have it so your feet always go towards the center of the planet when you are in the "vehicle". Sorry for the long post, thanks.

Sorry for the long post, thanks.
There is already something like that here http://forums.facepunchstudios.com/showthread.php?t=244099&highlight=planet the problem isn't that the gravity only pulls down. They got it so props and players are pulled toward the center of the planet and you can even launch things into orbit if your talented, the problem is that source doesn't support upside down walking so when you try to walk around the planet you get to about 45 degrees and you start sliding around the planet on you head. Other problems are; ragdolls, most sents other than the bouncy ball, and all the vehicles except the airboat have no gravity. Finally even though you have gravity with the airboat and you try to go to the southern pole you are pushed back like a slingshot. if you really want it even though it has the problems do a little hunting around on the thread and you will find a download. I know for sure it works but it may take a few tries. Make sure you get the Uplanet gamemode and sphere.bsp, also you might want to try Avon's gravity script but I've seen no difference in using it. Edit: Found where to get the scripts and map from http://ulyssesmod.net/gravity/
Here is a download link for 2 high res skyboxes one contains planets the other in plain stars http://www.sendspace.com/file/r6eqn5 I uploaded to sendspace because gmod.org wouldn't upload it after i tried several times.
That's a pretty snazzy looking fighter ya got there. I demand a link. Now.
Hey I'm gonna make a small 3 man server.Add rapperkid04 on steam friends and we'll make a server.
The SpaceBuild gamemode is extremely intuitive and fun to play with, but it does not fully support all styles of gmod gaming. It is ideal for role-playing and simulating an economy, but it is lacking for those who are more interested in the business of ass-whooping. Thus, there are a couple things that I would like to suggest for addition to the SpaceBuild gamemode. First off, I think that the ability to create laser cannons would greatly enhance the combat experience. I am sick-to-fucking-death of people who create a turret with the green contrail, no spread, and a fast fire rate and then call it a laser. A new, better looking and acting space-based weapon is in order. (Cannons are REALLY quirky in space) Something along the lines of the crazy stuff seen in Star Wars is in order here. And of course, if you've got lasers you need shields. Spherical shielding poses the problem of props clipping through it when turned on and off, so flat panels of energy-barrier-looking materiel (with a projector, of course) would probably be the way to go. So, how would this be different from the current set of .lua files that we are currently able to use to kill each other? Simple: make them need a power source, like the life support equipment. This would make it harder to have some kind of super-weapon. In keeping with my Star Wars take on this, what would it be like if EVRYONE had their own death star? Think about that for a moment. Ok, so instead of blasting away at your enemy, then suddenly realizing that you are simultaneously freezing to death and suffocating, make weapons and defenses have their own power source. Plasma banks, or something that would automatically recharge, so you don't have to lag yourself up with various components needed for generating the power to fire your sweet new gun. Naturally, all these would come in different sizes (and shapes, in the case of shielding). A final note on size, the laser cannons themselves would probably need to be big enough to prevent people jamming loads of them into a small space in order to create the mother of all lagfests upon firing. A good example of size problem-full-ness: the large energy cell. The volume to energy storage ratio is greater for the small energy cell than the large energy cell. Has no one ever herd of Costco? Thank you for listening, and if you read my entire post, congratulations. You have a longer attention span than most people I know.

Okay, has anyone else had this problem with SpaceBuild? I have the most recent v2b patch, and LifeSupport v1.4. When I start a single-player game in SpaceBuild mode, everything works perfect. The trouble is, after loading a saved SpaceBuild game. After loading, it reverts to Sandbox mode, and all of my solar panels are OFF. Hitting E doesn't turn the solar panels back on, nor does "sv_gamemode spacebuild" do anything. Has that happened to any of you guys? Is it caused by a steam update or anything?
Paragraphs, do you speak it?
lol No, it's better without them.
Okay, has anyone else had this problem with SpaceBuild? I still have the problem that if I shoot with toolgun anywhere, the sky turns white and the planets turn gray, heelp mee! Please! I want to play spacebuild with coloured planets and sun!
I still have the problem that if I shoot with toolgun anywhere, the sky turns white and the planets turn gray, heelp mee! Please! I want to play spacebuild with coloured planets and sun!
That usually happens if you have the flashlight on.
:crying: I still don't have all of the life support devices :tinfoil:
WALL-OF-TEXT-LOL
I totally agree. We defiantly need lasers, photon torpedoes, warp-drives, shields and stuff! :D
where do you extract the files and the patch please shanjag the next thing you make tell us where to extract the files.

(Not done) IDEA: You should make a seperate map but on earth global warming is happening and everyone needs to evacuate to a planet and live there. and then earth blows up or something.

I love this gamemode.. When is chapter2 coming out. I think Endor Vs. The Death Star. And hows about some full planet rotation? It would make takeoffs and landing just that much more fun!
Rotation is not possible due to the surface of the planet being made of displacements.
I have a bug: All my air tanks start with 100 air! I need to air compress them to get it to work, was this deliberate?
There was no saving bug because the whole saving system was never implented correct me if I'm wrong.
Just use the advanced duplicator to load your ships. It should come with spacebuild (or it did for me).
I can't extract the map to garrysmod\maps, it extracts the entire folder to garrysmod\maps, how do I extract it there?
Really quick, let me re-cap a problem that another person and I were having with SpaceBuild that i first mentioned on page 19:
Okay, has anyone else had this problem with SpaceBuild? Now saved SpaceBuild games will not revert to the Sandbox game mode after using this command:
Maybe try setting "sv_defaultgamemode" to space build before you open the save game?
That should probably be mentioned in the first post. It would help a lot of people out! Thanks again, Galaxy. -------
Puddle Jumper! (Not done)
I love the puddle jumper! Might I suggest giving the body more of a gray color (With the material tool). Make sure you setup a network of aVoN's gates on the planets -- that's what i'm working on. You could be like the ancients! :)
Puddle Jumper! (Not done)
Coolest ship EVER. I totally suck at building, and that looks like a model, not a bunch of parts of one thing. There's only one word to describe that: AMAZING. Edit:
Sorry, I'm pretty sure I saw it lying around somewhere, but I can't find it; what is the command to change the maximum life support items?
Yeah, I posted this four days ago and waited for a response, but I didn't get one, so I'll ask again, if you don't mind. What's the console command to change the maximum life support items?
i know all the life support commands. Max storage devices : sbox_maxreceptacles Max Life supports : sbox_maxlifesupports Max Energy systems : sbox_maxenergysystems I wanna be admin of Shanjaqs Wired Space Travel server :( Any way my server is called different things but right now its called FaSt DoWnLoAs Another Wired Space Travel (FaSt DL!) || <bla bla bla and there's some other stuff here> Edit: Ill tell you the IP in a sec
SUGGESTIONS I love Space Build in fact my server is pretty popular with this great gamemode, in fact it's very widely played n GM10 servers all over. The problem is it does get limited and have heard several players say "I'm bored and gonna get off", Now here are some suggestions to keep some people from saying this.
Inter-Server Interstellar Travel
Explanation: By this I mean we could use some kind of method of teleporting players and their ships from one server to another though it may be difficult; or just only Players.
Role-Play
Explanation: I know many of you are going to do this: Space BUILD, but I'd like to see an update where we could choose a job and earn a living, for example maybe in it we could have Planet Directors (mayors), we could make money transporting people back and fourth between planets, or run a shop selling life support stuff, etc.
Bigger Planets
Explanation: I'm sure some of you mappers are going to say "Hey a planet any bigger will lag!," well try and find a way I would love to fly into unknown galaxies and discovering new planets. In fact when I can build a freighter that is long enough to support a few ships and the freighter is longer then EARTH, you know the size of the planet is wrong. :)
Life Support
Explanation: Well now that there has been a zillion Life Support updates we're required to have our Ship's totally covered with a crapload of Life Support things, maybe certain Life Support can be assigned to Certain types of contraptions/buildings.
Life Support Adjustable Wire
Explanation: I hate having a tangle of wires all over my Ship so could we have adjustable width, or the easy wire placement like in wire mod where all you gotta do is right click and you can make wires not that messy.
Power Supply
Explanation: Ok I know, I know we got the Life Support dependent on Sweet Juice of power, why not Hydraulics, Winches, lights, Buttons, and everything else that would require power. In fact it would make scence Other Ideas: Someepguy I would like to add my idea that I posted in my wall of text a page ago. Summery for those of you who can’t be bothered to read a bit: Add lasers and shields that draw from a power source that auto-recharges and is incompatible with life support. Like plasma. Different sizes of lasers (lasers for fighters and different ones for capital ships) and different shapes/sizes of shields. If I have more suggestions I'll add them, thank you for reading :)
