I liked the idea mentioned about showing ice/fog on your screen when you start to get too cold. I'd like to mention the things that would be different from running the game from the belt and further out.
First off, things are a lot cooler, period. There is no natural source of oxygen short of generating it from ice asteroids (with the right amount of energy). Likewise you are considerably further away from the sun to the point your current solar panels would be considerably less effective! Doing the math real quickly, (e = 1/R^2) if you get 10 energy a second near earth, it would drop to 4 energy a second! Suddenly you need quite a few more solar panels to keep yourself alive! Wind is an option on the planets, but that is not portable. Hydro isn't really an option except on some of the moons of jupiter and saturn.
So what do we do?
Ok. I start up garry's mod. Set the gamemode to spacebuild. Load the spacebuildV2c map. Spawn and there's no damage from space or planets. All the Life props are there in Q. Need more? I'll check if it says that I have the mode on or not. Be back in about 7 min. Ugh.
Edit:
Ok, TAB says that Spacebuild is on. Help?
Everything SHOULD be up to date.
One thing that would be nice for the next version of the map, would perhaps be some func_physbox solar sails, to stick onto your ships and stuff to provide surfaces for the solar panels.
You could even stick the panels onto the sails when you spawn it, seeing as you can place SENTs in hammer.
Edit:
You could add a few different func_physbox spawnables, would be really useful for building, and might even reduce lag by making you need fewer props.
Interesting... What's a physbox? :)
Oh, I forgot to add. I've seen how the game mode works on servers I've been to, so I know. And it doesn't work. It says it's on. Oh! 700th post! Cool. lol
How do I install this?
I'm no good with stuff like this... :(
This game mode made me purchase X3
MY LIFE HAS BEEN AFFECTED
(which is an AWESOME game, if you have alot of patience)
This is my first time in this thread, and like hell I'm going to read through 24 pages of posts. So don't rub my face in shit if this question has already been asked.
Will there be a version of SpaceBuild that will be larger then the current one? It would be nice to actually make a effort to get to other planets, rather then just taking a trip from earth to mars in under four seconds...
The planets could be bigger too, but I think it would be better to get them spread far away from each other first.
Well, I know how to model quite well. I am currently helping Ta16 with his C&C_Onslaught map. I do not really know what do with the .3ds file after you finish modeling it. If someone were to provide a video tutorial on how to go from .3ds to .mdl, you might just get your wish.
You can use Mixerman3d's site, it has the files you need to convert .3ds to Half-Life 2 / gmod models:

Very nice Shanjaq, keep up the good work! :)
huh, this may have been answered, but there are so many pages I don't think I could find it if I tried O.o
For some reason, there is still gravity out in space. I checked to make sure I have everything installed in the right place, and I'm pretty sure I do.
Any thoughts/ideas?

Someone?
Try reinstalling the game-mode. If that doesn't work, reinstall the game maybe, a mod or something is messing it up.

Just reinstalled the mode and air. Deleted and reload.
I just had a dumb idea. Maybe the map?

Honestly, my philosophy in a situation like that is "When in doubt, reinstall Gmod." Of course, this has caused me more problems than it's solved, and in retrospect it should really be, "When in doubt, back up your important files, THEN reinstall Gmod." Ah well, I didn't really like those screens anyway. But I digress.
Chances are what's causing the problem is something very small and discreet, and you can either spend four days trying to figure out what that thing is, or you can spend half an hour downloading Gmod and reinstalling your mods.
And make sure you're extracting Space Build and Life Support to the right locations? I believe the Space Build zips are both extracted to the garrysmod folder, while the Life Support needs to be extracted to the addons folder. It may seem like a stupid suggestion but it might be what's causing the problem.
Geez I ramble a lot. I'm going to quit now.

If I have to.
Likely.
Yes I'm sure.
Yes you do. :)
Had a think. Yes that was intentional, but the point is, do you go V2, V2b, V2c? Or can you go V2, V2c?
Also copying then clearing my addons keeping air. Try that.
Edit:
Ok, I'm the biggest noob in Gmod. The addon wasn't overiding the old support pack. Kill the 3 .Lua's and BOOM! All fixed.
The models used in the video and in alot of screenshots, what are they? I mean the ones used to create the base itself, or the space station, or the fighters... you know.

Those models are from Phoenix-Storm's Model Pack. You can get it here.
Maybe in the next space build you could put a blackhole, wormhole or an actual star.
I'm working on a map it is looking pretty good so far their are some bugs which I have to iron out. Also I have started work on an asteroid belt that spins around the home planet. I have got a couple of asteroids to work but compile times are becoming long. I might post hammer screenshots soon.

A blackhole might be interesting I guess i could make an invisible planet with gravity set to 50 that sucks you in! Then a trigger_hurt in the middle so you die? That might work.
One thing that might be a good idea to put in the first post is if you got the old Life Support that wasn't a addon, you have to get rid of it first before you get the addon. Or set override to "1"

imagine when the whole ship will be crush and will spazz, the server will lag and/or crash
Not if you have a trigger_remove brush entity at the center. Although that would cause havok with players in vehicles.
Wow. This is the coolest thing i have seen so far for GMOD 10. Simply astounding. Can't wait to see what's next. Winner!
Anybody secretly working on a new map yet?, the current one seems to build up lag over time (few hours)
Ok I tried searching the thread but I got no luck so please don't bite my head off if it has been solved before but...
When I try and join a SpaceBuild server I get to Sending Client Info then as it's about to finish it crashes the game. I don't know if this is my fault or someone elses but help would be very much appreciated. Also I can start SpaceBuild in single player and after playing in single player I can sometimes connect sucessfully to the server but that is no longer working. I don't really want to have to reinstall gmod. Also if it helps I just recently installed PHX because the server has it...
Any ideas?

Oh, wow. Me too. Help!
Anybody secretly working on a new map yet?, the current one seems to build up lag over time (few hours)
My map is looking better I have done a couple of asteroids around the home planet that do 100 damage! So watch out when you are taking off! However it is not even close do being ready for a release because I am not completely happy with it. Also I tried that black hole idea it didn't work. I forgot that the gravity in the game mode is always downwards so you just go down through an invisible planet and are not drawn in to the center. Also I am agreeing with everyone about the fact that your ship gets deleted when you fall in! That would kinda suck if you spent ages on it.
Also It is a bit smaller! So hopefully less lag?

I had the same problem except I DID find the answer. All you need to do is sign out of steam and then sign back in, BUT... signing out and back in is different then restarting steam. Just be sure to remember your password when you do it.
AMAZING!!!
Not sure if anyone else has caught this, but do you play EVE? Just wondering based on your song in the video.
Anyway nice script :)
