I'm having a bit of trouble downloading the Space Build map/gamemode file (server reset errors) and I'm wondering if this could be uploaded else where? Thanks!
Please disregard my previous post, I just discovered you needed Live Support Systems for it to work correctly. Thanks anyways!
This is beyond ridiculous, env_sun is so screwed up I've wasted hours tying to get something working under all possible angular conditions... Positive on the X axis makes it go down opposite the side of the angle indicator ray in Hammer, while positive on the Y axis rotates it counter-clockwise to the world. So in Hammer you have a ray pointing down on one side, while the sun actually goes down on the other side; opposite side *and* opposite direction, whereas on the Y axis it's just opposite side and *same* direction! Ent:GetAngles():Forward() only works with ideal values, every honest mistake on the part of someone positioning the sun will kick things into an entirely different frame of reference... *Strangles env_sun somehow* Isn't it great when you bend over backwards to accommodate deviance then bang your head against the perverse code that resulted from such efforts? Edit:
Please post a list.
Nothing is set in stone.
I'm most likely not going to get around to finishing the gamemode that went with this. So I converted it for spacebuild. I'll release it sometime tommorrow after a full compile.
Holy fucking ass-crackers! That's incredible! That's... it's... beautiful... That, Jinto, is a work of art. Is it a new map? Or a new addon? Or both!
How do I start up my server with this gamemode? I use a dedicated server.
How do I start up my server with this gamemode? I use a dedicated server.
add this in your server.cfg/autoexec.cfg: sv_defaultgamemode spacebuild_v2 for command line: +sv_defaultgamemode spacebuild_v2
Fusion reactors! :O!?!? Do tell.
We arn't tellin. ;-)
When Fusion Reactors run out of coolant, they make pretty colors, and go "KABOOM!" I love your server, Shan!
Can you finish the tall order soon, Shanjaq? I'm itching for an update, seeing the new features.
Maybe these mystical "Fusion Reactors" would explode if shot enough. If an enemy ship shot through your armor (with breakable welds), everything connected to the reactor would break its constraints and asplode.

Jinto said he would release it yesterday (he said tomorrow and yesterday was the day befores tomorrow.) I'm getting sick of you stiffing us, Jinto. Where is our fucking map?
Please release some news on this map! (http://forums.facepunchstudios.com/showthread.php?t=289298&page=26)(Bottom of page)
Okay, I'm reporting a bug that has crashed Gmod several times. Basically, it seems (at least sometimes) that when a complex contraption launches from a planet, all of the constrained objects keep their actual position, but their rotation resets completely, and individually. My friends and I just worked for a few hours on a complex spaceship, launched it, and saw this occur. On other occasions, Gmod simply crashed before we knew what happened, but this time we saw the glitch happen. The ship left the planet at an angle, an suddenly all of the props were parallel with the x/y plane. We tried nocolliding things, but then the server just crashed competely. Please see what you can do. In the meantime, we're just building in space. Sorry if I've been redundant in this post, but I just wanted to be complete, since I know how annoying pinpointing problems in code can be.
Me too. What's up? [ Edit: b]Edit:
Hey guys, I have a problem. Is it possible to run the SpaceBuild gamemode in single player? If it is, I've tried everything I know how to do (based on looking at the original gamemodes), and the gamemode shows up and all, but depending on what I did, the player either spawns with no physicis gun and no tools at all, or just sandbox mode.
You download the old Life support? If you did go in to the garrysmod/garrysmod/lua folder and look around for three life support files. Ditch them and make sure you have the new ver. Or just set the addon info.txt to overide. [
well when the Fusion reactor runs out of coolant it starts to smoke and stuff then after a while it starts to fade black and spit electricity and go KABLEEWIE with cool blue explosion effects similar to the nuke by Teta Bonita. If i remember right we could speed up the process a lot by shooting Rockets n' stuff at them.
Really awesome, I got more creative in using this maps of what you can do in different planets! But, It's hard for me and the computer to stay together because I crash when I die because of when it plays the wav.
I have a serious question if anyone have the idea what I'm talking about. In space I always have trouble stabalizing a ship without using a lot of wire mod thrusters (makes laggy). On earth or any planet, I use Helix Snake's stool for advanced physics properties. Setting drag ammount, speed dampning and rotational dampning to props to help keep if from spinning out of control. See when I put 30 PHX props together and weld them, seems that when you weld multiple props around like with smart welder, it can sometimes create a strange pull that can set an object in space to begin rotating or moving in a direction without any thrust. Or cause it to become hard to control when moving. The thing is these properties modified in space don't effect the props. Speed dampning, rotational dampning, doesn't work. Has anyone found a way to stabalize their space craft? Also seems to be drag on props even in space. I think the max velocity is 1500ish speed but props will slow down considerably even in space. Is there any way to play with that?
Has anyone found a way to stabalize their space craft?
To be honest, I oftentimes use Keep Upright. It keeps it upright!
Kinda wondering whether it was gonna be a surprise or not, but since it's been detailed anyways, I might as well tease you all just a little more. ;) KADOOM! Fusion reactors rock, by the way.
Mental and I just thought of a really neat idea. What about a submarine gamemode? Like, have it on a map that is almost all water. Then have like life support systems and pressure regulators, ect. That would be fucking awesome. Water could have increased pressure and be colder at deeper depths.
Life support works under water
Yeah, but like, one actually dedicated to it. Don't just blow me off. For instance, as I said systems you need to survive pressure, ect. Reactors.
Life support was originally designed for submarine games
Ok ok. I just think it could be much more complex. Like even maps designed for it.
There is one called blind fight, wich shanjaq got the idea from
Shanjaq, please post up the version with the fusion reactors. There may be bugs, but they're probably not MAJOR ones, right? Please, in the regards of the oh-so-many visitors of this thread, release the update.
Minges and fusion reactors don't mix. D: Well we were playing earlier and we were asked to throw out a few ideas. I came up with a couple I'd like to expand on. 1: A laser linked to air and coolant tanks which takes energy (or not) to shoot a prop. The prop disintegrates and you get coolant and air. 2: Water. (Some one else came up with this, I'm just expanding.) You need water tanks for coolant compressors and to water hydroponics. This also eliminates the fusion reactor makes energy, which is what makes coolant, which is what makes the fusion reactor work, paradox. Also add a water extractor. It only works on planets with a habitable atmosphere and is the air compressor equivalent of water. Best I can come up with.
I love putting like a hundred big props on a planet, nuking them all, and making huge debris fields. (on single player of course, I wouldn't do that to someone's server) Anyway. Those fusion reactors look awesome.
