Argh, gamemode scripts are extremely brittle I noticed, it's so easy for them to slide off the stack.. I'll see what can be done to minimize the problems it causes.
This gamemode is perfect, the map is perfect. The roleplayers will love this. I played it like a zombie for 2 hours yesterday. Awesomeness.
wicked sick!
I am so going to make a comic out of this.
I was messing around in solo again. I made a very stable Saturn V. Rocket that got about 110 MPH (thanks to the speedometer hud addon from night-eagle I believe.) I took it to each planet in good time and no accidents, then I crashed to Mars and set up My own Oxygen Farm, and then after a large amount of construction, I now have Mars Labs Alpha. It is just the Air Farm on the outer rim, then half way to the center is a set of four sleeping rooms, then right behind that in the center of Mars (still not quite finished, it has no ground supports) and about 20 feet up is the actual labs. The Life Support was a bit of a problem and caused several issues with the welds, the freezing, and it didn't look great in the end up close, but it is better than having to sprint back to the ship every 30 seconds to be able to breathe. I plan to move to the moon next, then keep going and build a little system of inter linked planets.
Earth: Residential Planet for people to live on.
Mars: Science and Research Planet.
Earth Moon: Half-way point between Earth and Mars.
Mars Moon small: Air refill station for passing ships.
Mars Moon large: Mars defense station.
Venus: Military command base.
Mercury: Alien Military Base.
I may build a mobile space station or two and give each planet it own immobile space platform for Ship-to-Surface transfer (tele-portals come in here.)
Instant win.
I love your maps.
there is no sound in space :D
Yeah, We should make the EASY WELD TOOL and MAGICALY SPAWNING PROPS OUT OF YOUR ASS soundless too :o
Maybe I'm dumb but I really don't get how to get in space with my ship. How do you pass the sky?

Physically travel through it? :D
That is so Freaking awesome! cool, gold star.

There is an invisible "guard rail" of sorts around each of the planets to keep players from walking or jumping off, if your ship can clear the height of two players it can leave the atmosphere.

This looks a lot like that thread's concept
Meggido got player views working, you should talk to him, the current map he's using only haves 1 planet, and the more the better heh.
Also yours has a very nice skybox.

I definitely will talk to him once he gets the player's collision models synced with the view angles, because that'll be totally necessary for gravity-plating on ship decks(so you can walk around in your ship and always have "up" oriented to the ship angle!)
Shanjaq, any tips for building a ship that is easy to control in space?
I was hosting a spacerp server on this map just yesterday.
Good job!
Wow! If this were combined with a good rp script it would be the best gamemode ever!
Holy fuck, night and day cycles and atmosphere, this is truly awesome.
I have a dedicated server running, but I keep getting this error:

It spams that every second or so.

Oh baby. You're working on that?
-drools-

strange, does it do that immediately as the server starts or does it start happening after certain entities are spawned?
I haven't been watching, but I think it's after some peeps have joined.
Nice gamemode I am going to put it on my ded server tommorow :D
Nice gamemode, though some of it is astronomically incorrect, for example, Venus is warmer than Mercury because its atmosphere magnifies the sun rays, so you should get more burning damage than Venus then on Mercury, otherwise it's fun, it'd also be fun to use that planet thing, where gravity is towards the center, that'd be amazing.

Everything is astronomically incorrect... especially the sizes / distances.

So far in my tests I can only get that error from magnets, which are broken anyway(anyone else notice magnets fail to turn on?)
It also could be that the script is detecting players connecting but not spawned as actual entities yet. Can you see if the spam goes on forever without stopping, or if it clusters around player connection activity?
I can feel a star wars mod coming...
Awesome gamemode. Just the mapping leaves a little to be desiered. ;)
Some suggestions:
Tell me how you got the no-gravity in space, so i can make a new map
Combine this script with the Global Gmod planets which allows diffrent planets to all have gravity to themselfves, so we could make spherical planets.

It does the same for me. And entities still have gravity in space for me.

It only seems to happen when someone has joined, and it keeps going even if there are no more players.
:argh: So what keeps gravity off in space, what do i need to do in Hammer to get it to work right?
This is one of the best things to happen to Gmod since Gmod 10
