Ok. I downloaded SpaceBuild 2 and all the other downloads recommended or required for SpaceBuild 2. Unpacked everything to Addons and then played the game. Then it says I need the Resource Distribution Mod to play!
I'm going to check if they should be caked in the game, instead of setted up at Addons file. Because I think I did that with SpaceBuild 1 too.
We'll see if things are working after that. And if not, I don't know what to do next.

Umm I did! I got both Resource Distributions, but when I got the second one in the addon file it says I haven't got any of them.
I got the following stuff (not in addons folder, but spread out in the Garry's Mod folder):
SpaceBuild v3.
SpaceBuild 2.
Resource Distribution13.
Resource Distribution 2.
LifeSupport 18c.
LifeSupport 2.
Hydrogen Systems.
Combat Damage System.
WireMod451.
If I miss anything do say so, because it's alot of mod files and it's very confusing what to have and what to leave out!
It gives the same error messages as before, saying that the resources don't work. I also get a error message from LifeSupport if I fall to the ground.
If anyone can set up a list of mods I need to have for playing SpaceBuild, It'd be very useful for me and perhaps other people too.

I'm pretty sure it says in the instructions that you shouldn't have more than one version unless it's a patch.
Only use the latest versions, don't have more than one at a time.

Neither was there ANY instructions to be found in any of the zip files. I did read trough the starting post of this topic, but that didn't clear up all too much.
I guess I'll have to reinstall Gmod?

Oh well, my first venture onto Space Build... and all I can say is HOLY FUCKING SHIT. Garry must be proud right now.
Garry's mod was a little broken... I reinstalled it now and placed the right files in the right folders. Now it works (spacebuild 2) and...
It rocks! I love to make spaceships which have fully self-sustaining life support and space stations are very fun to build aswell. Great job on everything!
Although it is too hard to get Air, and waaaaaay to easy to get Coolent and Energy. For Air, all I can do is transport it (bleh, dependent of others.) or place LOADS of Oxygen Scrubbers, and those don't always work aswell.
All you need for coolent is a little energy and a coolent compressor, that's just too easy. You smash 6 Coolent Compressors together and you can live next to the sun! Energy is also too easy, you place a fusion reactor and use a little coolent, and because coolent is too easy to get, a reactor is very easy to use aswell.
I love this mod, but this imbalance is a little off.
I'm also getting pissed off on lan servers that the admin can use Noclip, and I cannot do so, forcing me to build another space ship with adv duplicator (laglaglag) and then fly all the way back there, reactivating the life support quickly and hope I don't die again.
But still, great job on the planets and asteroids and stuff. I love the mod and apart from those imbalances, it's really fun to play.
I'm having the same problem as Bulska however before i uninstall Gmod i just wanted to check exactly which files are needed to run spacebuild. I've installed all the files in the down loadable guide but it still didn't work and i kept getting error messages about the laser pointer. Any advice would be much appreciated :)

You need SpaceBuild 2. Unpack the 'SpaceBuild2' Folder to Garrysmod/Gametypes.
You need Life Support 2. Unpack the 'Life Support2' Folder to Garrysmod/Addons.
You need Resource Distribution 2. Unpack the RD2' Folder to Garrysmod/Addons.
That's all, but, you need to delete all other SpaceBuild, Life Support or Resource Distribution files. If you installed one of these in any other way then by placing them by Addons (or gametypes for SpaceBuild), then you got to search the files and delete them.
To find them, you can re-download the old files and see which ones you got to delete and where to find them. It takes some time, but its worth it for SpaceBuild.
The Smartness on this forums confuses me aswell... but I figured it out a little. If you mistype something, you get a big draw from your smartness points. To fix this, just edit your post, your smartness rate won't show back to normal, but I think that takes a little while or gets updated after you post something else. (also refreshes when you edit again without changing anything)

Wow. All I can say is that this mod looks absolutely epic. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get this one downloaded correctly, or for the map that comes with this mod to show up either. I've got this extracted into my addons file, along with resource distributor 2 and lifesupport 1.8, and the wire mod thing. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? THIS LOOKS TOO EPIC TO MISS!

I've spent 2 days so far trying to get Spacemod and all it requires to work together with no luck either. But with all that headache I have learned a few things.
If you use Life Support 1.8c (LS1) then you need (RS1) Resource Distribution Mod 1.3 (or 1.2 as it says in the version history after I download it).
There is also (LS2) Life Support 2 and (RS2) Resource Distribution 2. If you have LS2 or RS2 in your addon folders you CANNOT have LS1 or RS1 or Gmod will say you don't have Resource Distribution at all. I'm not sure but I don't think you can mix LS1 with RD2 and visa versa. Stick with version 1 or version 2 and delete anything from the other or they will conflict with each other. Each set of versions has gas,water,oil addons but they don't mix either. I've heard of problems trying to run the Hydrogen addon for version 1 on RS2 and LS2. And you can't run the newest v2 Oil addon on RS1 and LS1.
I have the same "invisibility when linked" problem even with the hotfix and advanced wire features installed on version one. Version 2 of RS and LS don't even show up in my tool bar when installed.

After much faffing, I got it all working and had a mess about with the new toys. I didn't know what some things did so decided to venture online to learn from other people. After waiting for some 900 lua files to download, I got onto the server.
This was all well and good and I had some fun online, until someone on the map decided to blow the moon up and killed the server. Iritated, I started a single player game and nothing worked. The life support menu was still there, but I couldn't spawn anything. At all. Pissed off, I deleted the garrysmod folder and started again. After placing all of the folders in there relvant places, nothing worked. I tried moving stuff about, but with no joy. I've just been playing with it all again. After loading a game, life support wasn't working properly. I have a fusion generator and cooland compressors connected to a large resource cache. Despite the compressors showing a power available of 30,000, they wouldn't switch on. The fusion generator would run, but smoke as it had no coolant (Despite still being connected to the cache). I was getting funny lua messages when trying to re-connect the links.
Wire was also being funny, not linking props properly. It wouldn't allow me to run the wire across the ground, start it at a switch nor select the different in/outputs available. The switch also wasn't staying on (The lightswitch model - as seen below (I assume it does)).

The problem is somewhere with RD2. It might be that some old file (that has been removed from the current Wire SVN version) is conclicting with the RD2 files. Check the RD2 thread for it, TAD2020 might know what is causing it ;)

The problem I suspect most people have, is that they locate their downloaded files in the wrong place.
The SpaceBuild 2 Download goes to GameTypes in Garrysmod folder.
All the other stuff goes to Addons, if one doesn't have a folder of their own already, make one yourself. Many people who upload their stuff are just too damn lazy to add a readme in it, or offer any help on how to install the mod properly.
Never, never unzip all the files troughout the whole Garrysmod folder with a mod, that only screws alot up but there is a little chance it works.

It's not always that.
This file is located in the Gamemodes Section, so it only needs a little bit of common sense that this needs to be put into the gamemodes folder.
If people would read the first post they would see that the exemple folder for the SVN is locaed in the garrysmod/gamemodes/ folder!(SB2)
This is SB1 and is outdated!!.

You downloaded the zip right?
Well the folder inside the zip should say Spacebuild2 an the one in your gamemodes folder is called Spacebuild (which is the old version and isn't compatible with SB2).
Hmm, I'm sure I downloaded the latest versions from garrysmod.org. I take it spacebuild_v3 isn't actually v3 and contains v1? Or something like that :tinfoil:
