I have finished Mars Labs Alpha and Refill Station Luna, so Now i plan to build on Earth and add a Stargate there that will lead to Mars. Earth will probably have 1/3 dedicated to housing, 1/3 dedicated to necessities, and the last 1/3 for space travel, IE a rocket platform with spawn-able rockets if possible. Earth will be key in planetary travel, and Mars will be key in making those planets habitable. Mars will create the things that make the rest of the planets habitable, and Earth will get them there and install them. Earth Moon will be for making sure they don't die in the process.
mmmmm yeah baby ohhh yeahhh oh fuck we recordin' lol? Lol i love this! ; this is sooo much the gmod10 future
We Need a Gravity Generator for the Life Support Mod. Then we can build a Station in outter Space or something :D Edit:
we need a suit where we can slowly hover around in space... WE REALLY NEED IT...for space stations and capital spaceships.
That would be a Great Idea, too. Edit2: Opps I just found A_cOp's Jetpack Tool I hope it will work fine.
OK guys i have started work on a map that is far away from earth that some lone humans have stumbled upon it will only be about 3 planets very far away from each other but they should be quite big. I have been fiddling around with the func_tracktrain to do orbiting asteroids but it's all WIP at the moment. I can't wait to see what other maps people build to.
I do like those ideas, however unrealistic. None of the PLANETS further out than mars has an actual solid surface, but what's the fun in that? (edit: Sorry, when I say planets, I do not mean pluto and the rest of the outer planets (all the weird new planets, that's not really planets at all :S), I'm talking about jupiter -> uranus) Maybe make Jupiter all gas, and make spherical moons around it habitable instead? Now that's really strange, if you're running the gamemode on the right map, WITH the life support stool, it should all work fine.
Now, Jupiter IS a solid mass, however EXTREMELY small, the surface is water (Estimated 400,000+ feet deep all around). Saturn has a solid mass, but the atmosphere is less than 5% o2. The new planets ARE planets, and took the place of pluto (now officially a orbital sattelite) Neptune and Uranus also have minor solid surfaces, but are mostly frozen over. Eris is colder than pluto, as it is on the edge of the solar system, and Ceres is a rocky mass in the asteroid belt. I don't see how this is unrealistic though... Edit:
Heres ideas: Jupiter - Stormy, ALL water Saturn - Cloudy like venus Ceres - VERY small (Luna-size), in the asteroid belt Pluto - Smaller than Ceres, Upon landing, you are frozen and slowly killed. Neptune - All ice and water, minorly cloudy Uranus - Cloudy, mostly ice Eris - Hidden planet past pluto; INSTANT kill without a large heater. Sun - Gets hotter the closer you get, need supercoolant to get near. Landing on causes an sintant kill. Objects and Etc.: Heater - Heats up people in a small radius A heat-meter - Relates to life-support, only goes down on cold planets, if dropped to 0, you die. Life support FUEL - For things like the heater. large heater - Heats more and in a larger radius Life support NITROGEN - For collers and coolants Cooler - Cools you down when on hot planets; Small radius SuperCoolant - Should only be used when near the sun, otherwise it freezes radius. Space: Black holes and nebulas - Black hole turns you to a ragdoll, destroys all objects, and slowly kills you as you are twisted. Nebulas distort your equipment, caausing them to turn off until the area is left. Comets - Icy flying rocks, with an Ion trail behind them that should disturb your equipment. Just ideas...
Updated ideas! :D

Is there have a way to exit earth without noclip because there is a invisible wall.
Is there have a way to exit earth without noclip because there is a invisible wall.
The invisible wall is only about two players high, to prevent people from just walking off the edge.

I was thinking of making the gas giants into huge water volumes, perhaps giving them their own separate map files so all the moons could be included. The Air and Heat Exchangers are intended to run on Energy Cells, but you bring up a good point about the need for a refrigerant in the case of excessive temperatures(like Venus or on approach to the Sun!) The heat bar would also be helpful, man this reminds me of the old Wrath of Earth game I played back in the 90s, scary fun times! Energy Cells could be recharged by hooking them up to Solar, Wind or Hydro generators, while Refrigerant could be run through a Compressor. Hmm....
I have started working on a Map Called New Eden Planets Earth Venus Mars Mercury Moon WORM HOLE Leads into another solar systems Planets New Eden> Mainly Lava but you can live on it > Moon 1> Mainly ICE You will Freeze > Moon 2> Mainly Rock and Water (Can Support Life) Xeno Prime> Mainly Desert and Dust (An Alien Race Lives ob the planet) No Moons Zatari I> Mainly like Earth but is very cloudy and has alot of Storms > Moon 1> Just Like Zatari I But has a Toxic Atmo > Moon 2> Small Gas giant Konora> Mainly a Volcano Planet Lava and Cloudy Atmo and Rain > Moon 1> Very close to the sun has alot of Lava and Tremors and very cloudys Asteroid Belts Comets The Sun!> About to burn out and is a little bit bigger I will post pictures soon :)!

Will there be room for such a big map?
After messing with this mod a bit I must say that it really gives a purpose to role-playing situation. One server that I was on had people from mars transporting "rocks" for raw materials back to earth to be converted into materials to construct ships and bases. I found it kind of odd that the air compressors worked on other planets (especially the moon). And then unlimited distance on compressor/tank connections... Another poster mentioned other resources that would have to be available for successful space operations. I think that they are all relevant, but will only add to the complexity (and load) of the modification. The thing that I beleive everyone missed was booster fuel. Attempting to get several thousand pounds off of earth (people who use shipping crates know what I am talking about here) takes serveral thousand units of thrust. In the topic so far people have made a mention about fuel/energy cells, and I feel that would be next step in making things more immersive. The way I could think to do it (other than using wire mod, which is already possible) is to have a seperate source for fuel (could be a tank or barrel) that needs to be connected to a thruster for the thuster to operate. The way to balance this is that thrusters for powers under 1000 can run without fuel, but any thrust over 1000 needs to be connected. The draw on the fuel source would depend on the power requirements. A pair of 90k thrusters pushing a 10,000kg battlecruiser would need dramatically more power than a 250kg launch. Just some ideas.
Me and my friend made a spacestation that flew, here's thread http://forums.facepunchstudios.com/showthread.php?t=291000
V2 of the jetpack is released, it's ALOT more useful now, and looks better too :D Grab it here, the absolute must for space stations and capital ships/freighters: http://forums.facepunchstudios.com/showthread.php?p=4736107
Me and my friend made a spacestation that flew, here's thread http://forums.facepunchstudios.com/showthread.php?t=291000
Whaha, did you just detonate my C4 explosive in that thing? I never knew the effect looked that good in space :D
You may have adressed this issue, but when I go to a few servers, the air doesn't seem to get sucked out of the lungs in space. Like, I can float around without airtanks at all.
Uhh... So where is this download link I cannot see for some reason?
Things that shoud be in a new 1 More planets 2 gravaty Generator 3 and maybe someting like the spaceships on RP_bah(can not rember name but the space)
Things that shoud be in a new 1 More planets 2 gravaty Generator 3 and maybe someting like the spaceships on RP_bah(can not rember name but the space)
I think the map is at its biggest, so adding more planets would require the planets to be closer to eachother. I think he's working on gravity generators, if not, I'll give it a shot :) It's named SpaceBUILD, having premade spaceships would kinda ruin it, eh?

As soon as all 3 factors reach parity I'll upload the new stuff.
And then unlimited distance on compressor/tank connections...
Yeah I find the unlimited distance for life support a bit cheap. I was playing on a server, and people on Earth linked up air compressors to tanks on Venus, and ran it through air exchangers also there, thus making Venus habitable. But it was a heckuva long distance for the wires...
The thing is though is that when you stick a life support device to an object, then connect it to another one on a different object, and start building off those objects, it causes major errors and will cause a black hole effect if left untamed.
Where should I extract this too? Addons didn't work. EDIT:I fixed that.

where do I extract the file?
OK I don't know if it's me but it seems to have happened on 2 servers I have been on and then again on a server that I hosted. I made a transport ship out of phx materials it was capable of carrying several people to planets. I left the atmosphere first then as soon as someone else left the atmosphere I crashed in the case of my host and the servers crashed in the case i was on them. My ship was composed of. Outer shell: 4 4x8 plastic sheets Divider: 1 4/8 plastic sheet Door: 4x4 Reinforced glass sheet on a 2 winches Front: 5 4x4 " " " 5 phx seats 1 in front 4 at back Hover balls for stability and thrusters It is weird and only happens on earth I think it is a bug with either the hover balls leaving the atmosphere or people seated in or out of the atmosphere.
It is weird and only happens on earth I think it is a bug with either the hover balls leaving the atmosphere or people seated in or out of the atmosphere.
I've done that a billion times, works fine.
Gamegasm. I'd love wooden wars in this. Build on earth, leave the atmosphere and fight! I made a small corvette that had 2 rotating turrets, one with a turret gun that has full force but only one damage against small things like fighters (Attempt to make the enemy's ship spazz out or get off course) and the other one has a prop cannon that fires propane tanks to damage the bigger slower stuff. The cockpit is on a crate. This crate has keepupright and when destroyed, the cockpit flies away and the ship becomes uncontollable. I might post it in the contraptions forum but it's a little late here.
Extract it to garrysmod/garrysmod.

I think it has something to do with the atmosphere, too, because the moment I exited, my comp completely froze.
