Wow, you even got the npcs to turn from friendly to agressive, I've been waiting forever for a gmod roleplay gamemode which actually has objectives, but this is amazing.
Yup, we have a karma system. So if you have good karma, he'll love selling weapons to you. If you have neutral you still can get weapons. But if you have bad karma... Well I think you know what happens:dance:
this is awesome, now all you guys need is a way to switch between first and third person and this will blow every other rp gamemode out of the water.
There was 3rd person in very early versions, but I ran into a lot of problems and removed it. I'm sure I can revisit it though in the future. I'm considering making the mod a little more like TF2, where Enclave and Brotherhood are at war with each other and players can fight each other, construct turrets and claim areas in the Wasteland. Do you guys think that's a good idea?
The little megaton-esque building was cool, but the trees need to have no leaves, there needs to be hardly any grass, and the road needs to be the nearly destroyed one from halflife2... Seriously, you have all the textures and models you need really... You can easily make a wasteland with enough effort and persistance.
Applied for the Beta (did the test) and can you add me on msn or email me (nick@kerplunc.com) *NOX*<PSycHo?
but the trees need to have no leaves
That was rp_evocity. :-P
Actually, could there be 3 factions? one neutral faction and 2 warring factions in this case, wastelanders, brotherhood of steel, and enclave. but it would be awesome if the person building an rp save could change the faction names to whatever they want. And could there be doors that the gamemode changes the map and rp save,(only for singleplayer though)
I'd just keep it the way it is. But hey, if it's a great succes, and you get lots of donations, you can open a second "war" server perhaps?
The gamemode seems interesting, but that map is just terrible, it's blocky, fullbright, looks like it took about a day to make...
I would rather if the end result of the gamemode allowed people to build their own roleplay games for their own servers and singleplayer, but fallout being an example game hosted on the gamemode team's server. So how that would work is, a server admin (or anyone for that matter) would run a sandbox match by himself or with his friends, make a landscape with ordinary props with any map, then use a customized stool would: -place nps -allow you to write the script for the dialogue for npcs -adjust their inventory -turn any prop into a container and place items in the container -decide when those items would reappear -place teleporting doors -place trigger volumes around all of the props that only spawn if you are sent through a certain door -place enemy spawns -adjust enemy inventory and health And then the person building such a game would save it all under a specific file. When the server starts up a predetermined server admin (known by a list of steam ids, or the singleplayer) The admin must make his way into the server where the map is loaded but everything is deleted, he is given a menu to choose these game saves which will then place everything throughout the map as if it were adv. dupe. Then the admin can leave the server until the map changes or the server crashes, and maybe if a server admin isn't online for 45 minutes after a server starts, ordinary players could vote between game saves. This would be expecting quite a lot from an ordinary lua coder, and I must sound like a "noob" by describing this, but seriously, if even half of these suggestions were accomplished, this would make gamemode of the year for sure.
Do something similar to what bethsoft did in fallout 3/oblivion and use a "levelled list". Essentially it's a list of items that can appear in a specific container. You'd set the container to read from that specific levelled list and choose some items at random from that list. Example: Medical Supplies Container reading from the table "MedicalSupplies" and using a random amount of items from it so it isn't always the same items and it mixes it up a little bit.
Are you going to release to the public I mean the gamemode not the map.
I doubt it, To be honest IMO, that is a stupid question, almost all gamemodes like this will never be released, although my statement can be reversed, I would never release this, it will probably be leaked, however.
I thought what you were about to say was to use more or less items depending on the player's level, that would be sweet.
That's what the levelled list does but I can't see that working well like that in a multiplayer game.
This looks great, I'm diggin' the quest system.
So whats up in the NoxFallout world?
Tried to do the Quiz, but got interrupted while doing so, so I didn't get to finish it. Also, 1 minute for 18 questions? Come on!
Gota be fast :cop: We also have a metric fuckton of testers, so I dont think we need more.
I would be happy to animate for this GameMode - i already animate for the AoC team (that's Age of Chivalry if you don't know).
Looks butt-ugly so far but I really do like the inventory and the notification and the hud.
I redid the derma panels recently from the default silver garrysmod look to a more fallout 3 style, if that's what you mean.
If you put the letters RP anywhere in this gamemode, I'm never touching it, but good work so far.
He prolly means the map. And to awpers, is has rp aspects, but it is an RPG.
Cooool !
We could sure use a mapper if anyone is interested. I can only do so much in lua. :-P
My last map was something called Fort Longcat, it's premise was -to retain the image of fort longcat from second life -to create a fully playable rp map with stores, and enough appartments for a very large server (I think this map has 48 apartments in all,) a small police nexus, ...and a local pool -to create a theme of an underground society...in the shape of a strange cat, exterior view of the inner shell is publicly surveyed for added security. The map also has a few secret passage ways and secret rooms. It's apartments and stuff seem to be a bit vanilla, seeing as they have no props in them, but making a bedroom set for 48 rooms would reduce fps, and I would image that it would take away from the creativeness of players. Hell, even the stores are empty most of the time. here are a few pictures:(pardon the muzzleflash bug while the pictures were took) Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=38QPGXQF Steam name: halocemappers
