Win 2000 for your Source gaming needs. :) Seriously, Vista is a pig compared to XP, but XP is a pig compared to 2000. I am able to run stuff WAAY under the minimum specs, on high, when I am running on 2k.
I use Vista on my Acer Aspire 5630, If you put DirectX 10 on it, You can play GMod with DirectX 9 with bloom and DoF, Flatgrass is around 50fps, I used to get 100fps on the old version of GMod.

I can run Crysis on my laptop :ahaw:
I laugh at how your laptop is better than mine but I can run gmod on all medium, without lag. Anyway laptops in my opinion aren't for gaming that's why I build a desktop pc what I love. :lepard:
my laptop can run Garry's Mod on highest everything :) EDIT: aw crap didn't see the last post time sorry!
My laptop can run Crysis at 60 fps all settings high so yeah... Your pics look like HL1. Or GMod for iPhone. Edit: Oh gawd it's a major bump... Damn you Elxir.
Looks like HL1 on low settings.
my laptop has a celeron 2 ghz 1gb ram i think it has like 32 mb vram im not sure, but it runs cs 1.6 well so im guessing it runs gmod on low everything.
What about the folk that have really good laptops? Oh wait, nevermind.
My laptop is COMPLETE SHIT. 2 GB DDR2 RAM. Intel Pentium (something goes here) processor. NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS (or something like that :/) Windows Vista Home Premium (No SP DUE TO IT CANT UPDATE TO IT) :crying: 220 GB HDD and It overheats WAY TOO MUCH. If I let it run IDLE, it heats up to a toasty 140*F :( My Desktop is awesome. MUCH better than my laptop. Here are my DESKTOP Specs. ---------------------------------------- ------------------ My PC Specs: Display: 23" HANNspree HF237 ( about $200 at bestbuy.com) RAM: 4 GB DDR3 (I'm upgrading to 6 GB soon ) Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 Motherboard: ASUS HDD: 750 GB --------------------------------------- Total Price: $990.00 (Monitor Cost not included) --------------------------------------- :buddy:
I can play gmod on my laptop at around 30-70 fps on singleplayer on almost all maps, multiplayer is where the lag starts. I pretty surprised though cause the GPU is a Geforce 9200M GE. But that is on around medium - low settings.
i have a HP Compaq Notebook with Intel Express Chipset Family lol it lags a bit, but i run it on full resolution with a little lag
I have a rape ass laptop, most likely better than a good majority of the desktops on here. So Garrys Mod is not an issue for me, but I have had to scale it down to work on a desktop of mine before.
I'm running it on a Dell Inspiron 1525. 2 GB RAM / Intel Core 2 DUO 1.83 GHz / 965 Chipset. Lags when I spawn about 7 - 8 combine / any other NPC's The best graphic options aren't available (Volumetric Light / Dynamic Shadows)
It plays real nice 40-60 fps average on my Alienware M15X, mind you, I am running a funt-load of other stuff all the time... Ah, 4GB ram is a wonderfull thing!
I play gmod on my laptop, It is a Dell Inspiron 1501 with 896MB of ram and an Ati radion x1150HD with an amd sempron at 1.8 GHz
I got that same laptop!:a2m::page3:
Needs more cfg for the laptop.
I play Garrys Mod on my acer aspire 5735x laptop and I can get good graphics but terrible fps of around 10fps average.
I get 60fps on flatgrass with HP G60 almost max settings: specs: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU @ 2.00GHz 3.00GB RAM 32 bit OS GeForce 9200M GE 256MB Graphics. [editline]10:10AM[/editline] It cost £430 about a year and a half ago.
This is more of a 'holy crap, it actually still works' than anything else thread, but I fired up GM on my laptop after deleting it, and came down to this: Just to show you that all the laptop users can still play if they turn the detail level down. Many other funny visuals involving ragdolls and prop view distances, but that's it for now.
I run an AMD anthlon X2 64-bit processor on vista, with 3 Gigs of ram and an ati X3100 on my work laptop, and I run it with regular settings, while running two monitors and realplayer. Pretty much, the only laptop cards that can't handle it are the intel 945/3100s.
I got a 1 year old laptop, and it runs Garry's Mod perfectly fine. Max graphics and settings, as well.
My Sony Vaio runs Gmod at about a medium detail level. It is a little slow to start but it works fine. Over 80% of my friends play/run Gmod on a laptop.
lol. i use a laptop exclusively and i have graphics on high as welll as everything else with no lag. i dont know what type of laptops everyone else has but i suggest getting a new one. before now i hadnt heard about gmod being bad on a laptop and i still havent seen any actual reason it wouldnt be. if u ask me, this whole thread is just because someone was bored and decided to make up a subject to get some posts going. i am dissapoint [editline]06:53PM[/editline] P.S. i have over 200 fps
This actually happened on my laptop, I didn't touch the detail settings or nothing. But all of the models have gone extremely low Polygon. Just like that, please help.
works fine on mine main specs you need to know ATI mobility radieon HD 4530 series Dual AMD ATHLON x2 64 almost everything high detail My gaming laptop has recovered from errors recently
Mine, runs GMod great with ~ 2GB of addons that airport flatgrass map starts in less than 2 mins
------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 3/16/2010, 17:18:16 Machine name: GARTHOX-WIN7 Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_rtm.090713-1255) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
