To be a good RPer, you must follow these important steps: 1. random DM 2. demote ANYONE for killing you for ANY reason 3. break into the police station at every possible moment 4. ruin someone else's fun at every possible moment 5. kill cops and the mayor at any possible moment without reason 6. call the admins abusive when they punish you for any reason
As true as it is I loled [editline]05:02PM[/editline]
You forgot to spam votes untill your cop, then claim IM A GANGSTA COP and shoot/arrest everyone
Lol yeah thats a classic one. Also join random rp servers and keep voting cop if you don't get cop after two tries give up and join another random server. Ive seen this alot, well what are the cops for obviously abusing
Go to a server and choose a public flag on DarkRP that has a spas 12 as their default loadout, then start DMing, so you can teach the admins what are they doing wrong,
ReichRp sucks, I get on and I hear about people getting raped
:q: On a serious note, kuroScript is a decent RP Script, try and find it's CityRP server, it's quite an okay server.
HERES HOW YOU RP YOU GO ON A SERVER AND CUSS LIKE NO TOMMROW YOU DM ADMINS YOU BUY POWERFULL GUNS AND HACK THE DARKRP SCRIPT (My fav)
Let's rephrase shall we? If your actually looking for RP guys don't come and play Garry's Mod. Cause the person I quoted probably doesn't realize that you come into a roleplay server and your already soul bounded to be signed up for a gamemode war or flame war.
Pfff. Roleplay is fine in gmod land. You just have to find it.
Good luck with that...
Good luck with that...
... I found it.
... I found it.
Good job. All you have to do is believe.
How to roleplay, with ----------- So assuming you're new to roleplay, and are most likely confused beyond belief what this, you may have been kicked, banned or told to visit this thread. Well thats good. I suggest you read all of it. But, you most likely are not willing to dedicated to reading it all. Part 1. Your first experience You've just joined the server, and you have created your character. A few things you need to make sure. Your name needs to be capitalized. So, it cannot be like this: otis anderson The correct way is Otis Anderson. To change your name, use the command rp_changename in console. (~). Or, you can create a new character by press F3 and choosing the character menu. Next, it needs to be a serious name. So no famous persons names, and nothing like Ben Dover. Now that you're strait with that, you need to learn the most important part of roleplay. Separation of IC and OOC. Assuming your saying whoah! slow down. IC? OOC? Heres what you need to know. IC. It means In Character. Which is, something in relation to what the person you are pretending to be is saying. Let's not forget, we are pretending here. Taking on the role of another person. Not ourselves. So we use IC to show the difference of the person we are pretending to be's actions, and our own, real life actions. OOC. It means Out of character in otherwords, simply everything thats not in character. This is just a chat that you can get out of in character and discuss things in real life, and not pretending. The importance of these two is that they must not be mixed. You cannot say something IC, OOC. For example. IC: yo bill u hear the mets suck. A proper way to use it: IC: Those Civil protection units, they...they fired on citizens just walking. No reason at all. Notice how it retains to Half life two, and something that you would be saying if you actually lived in the HL2 universe. Part 2: Actually roleplaying Now that you've got the basics down, it's time to actually get into roleplaying. You need to realize, that this isn't a game for 12 year olds and below. This is a serious roleplaying game intended for the mature. So let's get started. Our roleplay takes place in Buffalo, New York. Now City 11. After the 7 Hour war, the city was made a focal point of combine activity. The year is 2011, the start of Civil protection. Here is a good time line that pretty much sums up HL2 and where we are. http://members.shaw.ca/halflifestory/timeline.htm The main points you need to know as a citizen, are that the Combine have stun batons. They hit you with this once, and you'll be in pain for days. Suggestivly, don't get it. Next, you need to know there are rebels. That doesn't mean you need to be one. Being a with, or even near a rebel will most likely get you killed. Know what you're getting into before you get into it. The final point of this part, is character development. Dooho. What's that?! Well, it's what ties roleplaying together. You make a character, and have events influence their lives. Your character is not you, and you are not your character. Think of a personallity, how they react to situations, and why. If your character is attacked by a rebel, how does this influence them? These are important points to ask yourself. Part 3: The power of /me Still here? You must actually have a brain and want to learn. Good work. Now, we move on to /me. What is it? How does it work? Why? To sum it up, /me is a command that pretty much let's you explain what you are doing. This command is a lovely command that revolutionized roleplay. Using the command /me to show what you are doing generally makes you look cooler, and makes you a good roleplay. You need to pretty much /me anything you are doing. Failure to do so makes you a poor roleplayer. Part 4: Metagaming and power gaming These are two simple terms of rules you shouldnt do. Metagaming: Using information you have learned Out of Character to recieve an in character gain. Example: [OOC] Bill: i dropped my gun at the nexus yomg Then you run and grab the gun because you saw it was dropped in OOC. Powergaming: Using /me to put yourself at a high advantage, controlling all roleplay. Example: /me grabs the CPs arm, twisting it and breaking it instantly. The proper way is to do /me reaches for the CPs arm attempting to grab it. Then waiting for a response from the other roleplayer. New Life Rule: Perhaps the most simplest of the rules, when you die an In Character way, you respawn forgetting who killed you, that you died, and any recent events. You of course, remember your friends, any structures owned and personal.
long tutorial
Isn't that a little script (and HL2RP) specific? Most of it's fine, but the beginning talks about creating a character through the F3 menu and using rp_changename.
Well, it's generalizing with TacoScript, and TacoScript 2 commands. It's generally about HL2RP, too. The guide as a whole represents most of the key important roleplay facts though.
Find something like Cakescript, kuroscript and other ones that aren't GmodRP, DarkRP and Light RP. Avoid Dark, Light and GmodRP because. 1. They lie, It's not Roleplay. 2. It's RDM with money. 3. You'd be better off playing Counterstrike, Same thing as those so called Roleplays
What the hell is the difference?
Well, it's generalizing with TacoScript, and TacoScript 2 commands. It's generally about HL2RP, too. The guide as a whole represents most of the key important roleplay facts though.
We need to be more general.
