Toybox is SCRIPT cloud. So, it should be limited ONLY to scripts.
Directly from Garry's official blog, before this was even called "toybox":
This worked out pretty well, so in the future you can expect other downloads (maps, models, saves) using this cloud system.
http://www.garry.tv/?p=1930
I don't understand - what do you mean? Clogged up?
Unless Toybox works differently, I was referring to addons taking up space and increasing load times.
They're not addons, so don't increase loadtimes.
Automatically download content? :gizz: By the way, is the content downloaded automatically deleted, stored, or a possibility to change bethween either?
'Nother question, If you finish with a weapon/entity, do you keep the materials/models? Cos i'm thinkin' that you could get a slower computer... So it is it possible to automatically delete them when you don't use them, or when you finish single player? And you can download them all over again. :D
Yes but then what happens when a weapon you wanted is removes from the cloud? It seems to have already happened to one of my favorite weapons, the "Flechette Sniper"
Downloading content from the cloud doesn't slow your computer down. They're not addons.
good job garrrrrry
Will there be toybox props? or maybe spawnlits.
Will there be toybox props? or maybe spawnlits.
All of the major model packs such as SBEP, PHX, etc should be downloaded via official source for ease of usage. Any other models that arn't in huge packs probobly don't need to be used for anything other than other addons such as SWEPs, and entities. So the models to said SWEPs and ENTs would be downloaded via auto download when the entity/etc is spawned.

Wasted a lot of time doing this.. [hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eubOzhGViOo[/hd]
dammit... why did I just delete GMod 4 months ago? This looks neat!
What's Virus? :o
Eh? I fail to understand what you are trying to say to me!
Wasted a lot of time doing this..
I like it.
What is the ETA on the upload dialog being done, Im kinda on a tangent here :P
- Odd browser fuckup -
I just saw this today I was like :O wow great job on this one garry, you really out did yourself! :D
I really like that new download effect...but I kinda miss being able to see the filenames. Perhaps have it print "(filename) has been downloaded" to the console for each resource that finishes downloading? Or does it already do that? I haven't been able to keep up with this stuff because my GMod suddenly started getting some "Failed to lock vertex buffer" crash.
i think this is awesome! good work garry :buddy:
hnnnng
If we can use these out side of the cloud now, I may just start warming up to it. If we download an entity from the toybox, will it appear in the entity tab upon next boot up?
although it most likely is going to flood your servers, but i throw the idea out there anyway. Well, you go to servers where there is alot of custom content. The server doesn't have sv_downloadurl setup, and you wait for hours for it to complete. What about a dedicated server for all garrysmod addons, so if anyone uploads something to garrysmod.org, the zip file is automaticly unpacked (easy) and then put onto the dedicated server (maybe even compress it automaticly with bzip2) and instead of everyone needing to create a webspace to host they'r files, the content is downloaded from one place. + SVN stuff Or, not downloading the content until it's actually needed. PHX model pack is like half a gig exported. But instead of downloading the huuuge package, you only download stuff that is spawned. Although when i think of it, the spawnlist must be redone every time, something is downloaded. Make it dynamic spawnlist, what updates itself quick. Just for future "Multyplayer funtions"
=snip=
sweet, I was waiting for this. I'll make something when the next update comes.
Something I would like to see is to have resource.AddFile entirely removed ( Or maybe made optional ) for models, and instead use this system to download each model existant on the server when it's used, removing the need for content packs which usually don't cover the whole content used anyway.
I noticed in another thread that you mentioned that content downloads are compressed, what compression method are you currently using?
zip
Because we're using zip
