your argument went from "we're doing nothing wrong" to "sue us" uhhh
It still remains that we're doing nothing wrong. We have permission to create the game. But I'm not gonna argue with idiots on if we're right or not, so if they wanna keep going that's my response. But everyone in gamemodes section is destined to find everything wrong with creativity instead of support.
sure is good thread around here
You got it.
sure is good thread around here
Pretty much became argument, cause we have too many genius's around here with sooo much knowledge to share.
I know this is Facepunch and all but that ban was pretty uncalled for. Kat has a legitimate point there about getting permission from respective authors. I think the moderator might want to rethink the difference between disagreeing with someone and having a healthy argument about content permissions. Pi Mu Rho Would be the one you'd need permission from to use or package in any of the default ZM maps. In most cases maps can be freely used but here it is laid down plainly for all to see that permission is needed. Also please don't lower yourselves to the level where you just say "I'm using it, sue me." That's just wrong and you know it. If that's how you feel about permissions then I'm not so sure I'd want my ZM maps associated with this. Other user created maps are totally different from the default ones as far as usage goes. When a user decides to release a map to the public and says nothing regarding permissions then it's free for use. This however is different. These are considered property of Pi and it is expected of you, since you're remaking the original game in a different medium and using it's content, to contact him and make sure he personally agrees with you using the maps.
We're not making money off it, it's all for fun, to give Zombie Master a new light.
Here's what you can do, Have your mapper buddies that you care so much about contact their lawyers, and mail us the summons.

It still remains that we're doing nothing wrong.
sure thing buddy
Lets get back on track here.
Hey guys look what i made. You only get 12 ammo per ammo can you pick up. So pistol clips make more sense.
sure thing buddy
Yeah we have 100% permission from an Original dev to remake the game with use of the maps. Tell me what's wrong here. We're taking a game people like, and adding more to it, and if you really can't support it and want to complain about bullshit, then click the fuck out cause it's not gonna fuck stop us from making it.

We aren't out to personally insult you even if that's what you've been doing to us. But it's only right that you understand BKU, the dev you contacted has the authority to give permission for the code, not the maps. The mapmaker himself is the only one that can give permission as says the README file. That would be Pi Mu Rho and no one else.
Okay.

I'm sure mappers won't care if their map as originally made is being used, We're giving their map more life.
Swearing constantly in your posts will hardly make people take you any more seriously or legitimately, you know. Regardless. I do hope you do not use any of the weapon models, either, as that falls in the same line as the map stuff. In anycase, I always thought a flame thrower was necessary. Also a special chaingun.
I swear cause I really don't fucking care if you take me legitimately, We're making the game and we're making it fun, don't like it? Then don't fucking play it. Anyway, we are adding flares, and are working on other new weapons...
Finally someone constructive, thank you. We do not plan to steal their weapon models. And I'm going to be modeling most of them. A chain gun seems like a great idea, it will be heavy and take a while to spin up. It would add to the gameplay tactics.

It says clearly that the default ZM maps that come with the mod itself are to have permission from Pi for usage. This means you must contact HIM before using it. I'd hope that you at least put some effort towards doing things legitimately and stand out among the many content stealers of Gmod.
Stop derailing the topic please.
content stealers of Gmod.
So it's stealing, using it on our server is stealing? Nope. Stealing is decompiling.
Just throwing this out there citizen what your going on about is basically saying like natalya's CSS Rp mod cannot use the rp_ maps from gmod. Does that matter no. The map maker most likely loves the idea someone is using their maps.
That is not derailing. This is directly related to the mod and it's content. If there is another thread better suited for me to post in about this concern please direct me to it, otherwise this is where I'm going to bring it up.
Just throwing this out there citizen what your going on about is basically saying like dark rp cant use gm_construct as an example a mod someone has created using a map they didn't make.
No, this isn't the case at all. Garry never said anywhere that he wanted permission from him personally before anyone could use construct in a non-sandbox gamemode.
I don't see you talking about the mod, you're talking about stealing. Anyhow I'm working on a flare weapon model, lets discuss what it does. I think you should throw it, and it will ignite any zombies that come within 3 feet of it (Even while it is laying on the ground). The ignited zombies should not die however. Should it be able to light the way in your hand?
So it's stealing, using it on our server is stealing? Nope. Stealing is decompiling.
Going against the direct conditions of use of the ZM mod's content IS stealing. Using it on your server is no different than use on anyone's server.
Going against the direct conditions of use of the ZM mod's content IS stealing. Using it on your server is no different than use on anyone's server.
You mean the same ZM mode who gave us permission to do so?
You mean the same ZM mode who gave us permission to do so?
You got permission for the CODE not the maps. BKU is the mod's coder. He had no hand at all in making the maps therefore he can't give you permission to use them.
Naelstrom thats a great idea you should also make it so you can place the flare on the wall with like duct tape or something.
