How about you try reading the thread.

The site is (almost) finished! I need to test it before I release it! Give me tomorrow and it will be out!
I honestly don't see why we get some torrent downloads set up for all the Gmod addons... I mean, with how many people playing and if people aren't jerks and setting upspeed at .001 kb/s... >.>

I'm sure that would be flirting with that the forum calls "un-doable" because of the legality concerns with torrents.
Sounds like a good idea--but I don't know in practice how well it would work. :P
So, before I release it, I have a few bugs that I found. :) Good thing that I found them... :P
Here are a few pre-release photos:

Anyways, hopefully the site will be all ready for a release later today. (Monday)
This project looks really future full, If you wanted I could try and make a Desktop uploader on C# but I'd still need some + knowledge on the thing

Hehe, that was my next project. :) But yes, I would love for you to!
I also had another idea that would entail some 'hard-core' coding. :P
Basically allows you to download any of the files directly from an application and install them into your addons folder. :D

Torrents are not inherently illegal, but they are most widely used for illegal purposes.

As long as it's optional. I wouldn't want to be required to use a GMod files site via that method.

There are no legality concerns with using BitTorrent to share files that you have the right to distribute. BitTorrent is not illegal.

I'm not saying that it is. I'm saying that with the high level of people doing illegal things with it makes it look a little less of a polished idea.
I have to admit, it would probably be the fastest way to download Addons, assuming people seeded, etc.

Yes, it would be an alternative route that some could use. :P It definitely wouldn't be the only way to use the site. That would be dumb... :downs:
Public torrent trackers are exactly as dangerous as file upload sites with an index. The illegality potential isn't any higher with a torrent tracker.
If he can't make a up-loader in VB. It'd be a web page with a uploader, guarantied to work. Also, I might make a small downloader tab too, I just found out how to unzip in it too <3

I think I could easily make it to download the files :p course i'll have to request username and then it's just %programfiles%\steam\steamapps\" + username + "\etc..."
Sorry if I've missed this, but I have some questions:
1) How is this hosted ?
2) What kind of limits do you have on your hosting ? (Disk space, bandwidth and connection speed.)
3) How will the files be moderated ? (To protect from illegal and / or harmful files.)
4) How will you deal with legality ? (Copyrighted files, etc.)
5) Can your hosting really keep up with the amount of Gmod users and files which will be uploaded ?
6) Do you have DOS attack protection of any kind ?
I only ask because it's one thing having a few files which are hosted faster than they are on garrysmod.org, but it's another to offer the promises that you do (Fast downloads, 1GB of space, free, etc.) and actually meet them when your site is going to be used for the volume of files which this community can use.
Good luck.
I can answer some of those:
1 - Dedicated box.
2 - The size of the hard disk?
5 - Yes, I know this for a fact.
6 - Yes, the datacentre's border routers and internal switches have a level of denial of service protection.
Why can't I see his post... D:

He deleted it.
Anyways, I took today to polish it up. It would have worked how it was but I wanted to have it nice and clean. :)
I hope you enjoy it after I release it. I'm still looking into getting a new Dedicated Server for it... I just need a reputable host. :-\
I'm sorry that the release is delayed, I'm just interested in having a fast site that's competent to hold all the files. :)

Easy. Just because it's a torrent doesn't mean it's illegal. Torrent software is often used for freeware applications due to the fact that it completely limits the needed bandwidth by the server.
Anyone who has a mod (like PHX or Wire) would download it from other users, instead of from one website. If we did that, we wouldn't have to worry about the various security flaws in an SVN program.
With the Gmod community so strong, I don't see why this isn't possible.

What?
What?
I'm saying I don't trust a whole bunch of elitist teens and twenty somethings that run a repository of constantly updated content. With all the crap that's stuffed into, say PHX, you probably wouldn't notice if someone inserted a couple extra files in there.

That's not a security flaw. And if you really are that paranoid use a antivirus or go through the files everytime an update is released. Or just don't download it.

And torrentz are better? And how do you update them after they're downloaded.

The default link colors burn my eyes. Could you perhaps use these instead?:
Link color: #336699
Link hover: #46b11c
Link visited: #141e5d
Here's an image of them in action. (I do hope you know how to actually implement it, as it's pretty basic stuff)

Anyways, it's past monday and it's not up yet. Are you having troubles with your host? ;D
(Oh, and I unofficially specialize in web graphics, if you want to take a look at my site in progress: http://www.insertcoins.info/)
Your site isn't too impressive.
As for the link colors I think that would be a good change.
if you want to take a look at my site in progress
I started it a couple of days ago, and haven't had time to work on it more as i'm starting college next week. I know it looks like shit right now :P, but at least the first image that I have is decent. However I may not even be what I stick with. Thanks for the criticism nonetheless. ;D
Oh, and the download file button in this picture isn't center-aligned. It's somewhat askew. I just know it's going to bother some people (like myself). ;D

I might be able to host it at a VPS for free, but it would need being .tk or .no-ip.org, maybe .com if I figure out some of my available functions.
Note that I'm not sure of the up/down speed but I don't think it is bad, and the Bandwidth (not sure how to spell) is unlimited as far as I know.

No.
Quite a direct answer, no problem for trying to help :\
Here is my direct answer for that.
Ok.
How about making the background of the site a bit more white? IMO it would look much better
