WOTS only can happen when you let your mind prove to be insane and you let all boundaries leave. Once all that is done you enter a state of paranoia believing that all are against you and after you. As soon as your paranoia sets in you go into a state of belief that in Gmod 9 a real minge war happen and you had part in it. If you don't snap out of it towards the beginning it usually takes about eight or so months to end your belief.
I'm talking out of experience I did have a time where I believed I was Ssgt. Skylynx of 2032nd Artillery Barrage. It's a real fucked up place to enter dude. Never believe WOTS happened. You lose a lot in the end.

I have a theory as to where all minges(not just in rp servers, but in ANY gmod server) come from. No one's pointed this out yet, so I'll put my finger on it right now.
First of all, making of a minge is contributed to by 4 main factors: Age, provocation, anonymity, and boredom.
Age: Yes, statistically speaking, kids under the age of 14 are more likely to become minges than any other age group. You probably know this already, so I'll move on.
Provocation: A person may become a minge because of something another player has done(I.e. Killing on an rp server) and will try to get back at them using cheap tactics(propblocking, spamming, rdming, etc).
Anonymity: Normal Person + Anonymity + An Audience = Total Fuckwad
Boredom: now this one might be the toughest out of all these to explain. Keep in mind that most people who play gmod probably own cs:s or another source game as well. Now, in it's advertisements, it states that "Garry's Mod is a sandbox game with no pre-determined goals.". I think this is gnod's biggest flaw as a game. The same can be said for the darkRP gamemode. When I play on an rp server, I usually have to deal with the minges trying to rdm everyone and perform other bouts of faggotry first. After about a few hours of this, after the minges have either quieted down or left, I am faced the usual "Well, now what?" Seriously, it seems like rp has no real point to it, I mean sure, you get a job, sell things, and make a small profit, but what is the real goal besides making money? Most people realise this early on, and and eventually suffer from one of the biggest threats to a gmod server of all time: boredom. When someone is bored and they just spent 30 minutes waiting to download the mods needed to join the game, they think "Damn it, I waited this long, so I'm going to get SOME entertainment out of it, at least.". Once again, keep in mind that most gmodders own cs:s or another source game. Bored and frustrated, they revert to doing what cs:s has taught them to do for many years: shoot at ANYTHING that moves, regardless of what they had done to deserve it.
Eventually, this starts a chain reaction of players killing each other, because one person will get killed, go back for revenge, end up killing another player in the crossfire, and then THAT player will get mad, and so on.
So anyway, I hope this sheds some light on why every rp server eventually erupts in gunfire.

Well sorry for going off subject here but I would like to have a RP server without minges. As long as the map isn't your usual hometown, downtown, oviscity (Maybe or maybe not). I would lik emaps like csdesert amsterville so on.
Back on subject. Ya like most of you said it's just because they think it's cool or the four reasons that OrDnAs brought up.
Anyway, EVERYONE complains about the kids on garry's mod but there is no way to stop them from buying it, they just get their parents to buy them HL2 or CSS or whatever all of which are 16+ so a failing on the parents part and obviously it is appealing to the kids but for different reasons to us, we see hundreds of posibilites and numerous fun ideas to have, they see an opportunity to act like pricks.

Well we can try to make one but if you go to the Pulsar Effect Roleplay Server #2, Serious, the map is rp_evocity2_v1 (note that its not evocity1_v2d from garrysmod.org), you'll find that there are minges there but guess what, instead of bugging you, they try to rad out other players to get them banned by recording demos. So if someone actually does rdm, they get banned and PERP is so far the greatest MODERN roleplay server alive.

NLR mingebaggery can go both ways: One way is that they will go on a killing spree because they know that NLR can keep the idiots off their back after death.
I can imagine if a person who isn't used to the concept on NLR would be so pissed that he just wants to ban or crash the server. Unfortunately, most people do posses that ability.
Part of the joy of killing is the knowledge that once they're dead, you have set in motion a chain of events that will travel in a direction completely different from the normal course. Where he may have had a family in ten years, his future wife will meet someone else, the house he would buy will be sold or torn down, the job he work at will be given to someone else...it's just so exciting. Then there's the act itself...sorry, you guys are talking about Gmod, I was talking about...something else. -_-
as for dumb shit like that, you may as well log onto a fps, find a hacker, and ask him why he hacks. is it because he has no skill? Is it because he thinks it's funny to see other players bitch? or does it just make him feel like he's got power? I think that's it, bullshit like this, bullying on the internet, gives kids a sense of an enlarged e-peen.
I use to play on aserver where being an assassin was a job, me and my friends would rp it very well, we would set contracts, times and dates and the like. I would usually set a bomb in the targets apartment/building in view of a window, I would then schedule a meeting with the target in his house, then when he enters I shoot the bomb.
Then the little 12 year olds came and instantly went to hitman job and mowed people down in the street.
And so the job was moved to admins only...
