You should make it a solid color, change it, or change the text/info color to blend and go well with it.
Ugh, that background can be straining on your eyes. You should make it a solid color, change it, or change the text/info color to blend and go well with it.
That background is a placeholder. I'm going to have a more generic patern.
Yeah, it looks like a stock google images photo. Anyway, I'd love to help code this - add me on SF at disseminate.
You should have a model for the background, and draw over that.
Coming along nicely grea$emonkey but i agree with kevin, you should have a model as a background
It would add a better look and a more customized element to it, What you have isn't bad but it isn't, right.
i made the communities thing, just thought i might add.. anyways ya, you didn't put the others on grease?
I personally think the background would look better as a plain colour, such as grey.
I personally think the background would look better as a plain colour, such as grey.
Maybe just a EASY background. not only gray, maybe from gray to black or something.
Haven't updated in a while, so here's a list of stuff you should know:
I start school tomorrow, but here are a couple of the kiosk screenshots to tide you over. No matter what dimensions the subcategory image is, it will scale to fit that box. I'll hopefully get a better background soon. Also, these interfaces will be usable soon. Like buttons and such.

Barrels are just my placeholder model. Here's what the kiosk will look like: Compliments of Dr. Fire. I'll hopefully be getting screen models soon.

I can't seem to get my 3D HTML panels to work. I feel pretty stupid since it seems so simple. Anyone wanna help with that?

I've started some SQL code for this. Hopefully that will work out.

I still don't have a server querying system. I read the valve docs but still can't figure out where to start. LuaSocket made no sense to me and sounded hard to set up. Regardless, I'm going to need a helping hand with it.

Once I get the screens working and have the 3D GUI interface implemented, I'll have a few more things to do. Assuming I have the server queries working, I'll be getting to work on my helper-bot. If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's a brief explanation: The Helper-Bot will be an entity located throughout the map. Probably located in corridors and lobby areas. They will simply patrol those areas answering the many questions new players may have. They will have a 3D interface that pops up when players use them. From that menu, players will have access to a variety of functions:
General Information: What this place is, where you are, what you can do here, etc.

FAQ: A list of more detailed questions and answers.

Directions: Players may get lost in the map and have no idea where they want to go. So the "ask for directions." When the player selects a place they'd like to go to, the helper-bot will deploy a sprite that leads you to the destination of your choice.

Communicate: I'm thinking of doing a global chat between servers. Optional for those who apply to the Master Server listing. I give them an addon and poof they can chat. So perhaps players can use the helper-bot to do that? My thought was to have it be a derma panel where you select what server you'd like to chat with.

What else? Not sure. Suggest some things the helper-bot could help with. Since I haven't started on it yet, I'm open to suggestions.

Anyways, that's about it for now. I can't guarantee much work for a little while, but I'll do what I can.
Sounds amazing! My clan is starting to open up a whole network of servers (4+) you could add them to it xD?
Its only going to be useful for people in the same country that the server is hosted in. Why join an American server to connect to an Australian community? (just an example) Maybe a good idea is to have several different maps/server selections, each for different countries? And I realise that you said you would not be releasing the source, but maybe only release different versions to a few people in different countries, so they can get local lobbies set up. Just a suggestion.

I'm also going to try and add a language library so multiple countries can join and view text/information in their own language. ALSO: The creators of "Master Lobby," which by the way was a total coincidence in design/development and concepts, has joined me in the creation of Master Server. We are merging some of our code to speed things up. Obviously will be credited.
i better still be main design guy :) lol
This better come to Australia or I'm gonna rage.
This better come to Australia or I'm gonna rage.
Here's the problem I face:

I am not made of money. In fact I'm quite the opposite (not poor, just not especially rich).
In order to do this, I need to run a dedicated server. Now I'm starting to realize that people will want at least one of these servers in their own countries.
The problem is, dedicated servers aren't cheap, especially ones that run GMod.
I'm looking at about 28 bucks a month for a 32 slot server. And that's on the cheap end, but even if I do that, I'll probably be running exclusively from London. I'm in the USA, mind you. It would be nice to have a US, UK, GE, and AU server; but again, finding a reasonably priced server in each of these countries will be difficult. Now lets look at the things I can't do:

I can't publicly release this. I have my reasons.
I can't let individuals host this. Don't get me wrong I've had a lot of offers, but again same reasons.
An ideal situation would be having a dedicated server hosting both the game server, and a promotional website for it all-in-one. Complete with SQL databases, a fastdl linux server, and all that other fancy crap. The problem here is that all hosting services tend to charge no less than about 300 bucks a month for decent dedicated server hosting. I have $180 reserved for a start-up cost on this. That's it. That could get me through maybe a year of some crappy cheap hosting, or almost a month of some decent hosting. I hope people are starting to see the issue here.
I don't see why people are so fussed where the server actually is, I mean, the only thing it's really gonna affect is loading time (from clicking the connect button to actually getting ingame) and ping. Ping doesn't matter ingame, since all you do is walk around and look at stuff, and as for loading time, there isn't all that much difference anyway. So just 1 server, in UK or US (whichever is cheapest) would probably do fine.

Connect to server Or at least, that's the impression you were giving off. So high-speed hosting doesn't really make much difference.

What if some idiot idles around? And high-speed makes a huge difference.
Idle kicker?
A MMO area so you can build a base, Like empires mod/runescape/gmod! -EM = Up view? -RS = Skills/Resources // In house you can walk around cause its a model or something, And you can smith weapons for little gamemodes inside MS(Master Serverz) -GM = Something

No, really. You completely lost me for what you meant by this.
