Oh well, I gotta start posting some more.
I requested a server back when I thought a gamemode was going to come out a few days later, when in reality it was going to come out a couple of months later- What can I do to keep my server alive up to release?
Possible to get a free 8 slot server for developing on? :>
Dang charitable offer. I tip my hat to you, sir.
One big annoyance is that I can't seem to upload any dlls to my server. I tried changing the file permissions but it overrided them. Any thoughts? I really want to upload a vehicle fix for my buildrp.

For other modules, you would have to contact him about having it added.
So how would you feel about hosting a MOO server?

Okay so updates: I am still offering this, but I'm only going to host new requests if they show real interest and thought. If you don't know what you're going to use the server for beforehand and you have no idea how to host one - please don't apply. Out of the 250ish servers I have given out, only around 30 have players. That's unacceptable to me - if you request one and do not get a reply to the PM please refer back to the above and send me another PM. PMs can take up to 48 hours for me to reply to as my schedule has gotten significantly more full - but you will get a reply if you take your time to think out what you are going to use the server for and actually want to build a community.

I still don't know what tower you're trying to make xD Guys. I've been using (paid for) Tyler's hosting services for a quite a while now. I'd truly recommend his hosting services for those who want to make a good server with no lag and full uptime. Better yet, he provides a great hosting support to ensure that you get an answer within minutes! You guys are lucky he's giving out free servers ^_^
Out of curiosity how many of the servers you hand out are actually populated? I'm curious to know how many people just forget they got a free server.
Like none, I ended up removing all but 30 or so due to inactivity.
Like none, I ended up removing all but 30 or so due to inactivity.
I've sent you about 4PMs in the past weeks, but you haven't replied to any of them, so I'm just going to try again here. I haven't been able to set up my server properly because I need some binary modules to be uploaded that are required for my gamemode. You've replied to my first PM telling me to send you the links to the modules as well as the IP of the server, which I did. That was about a month ago I think. I've sent you another 2 or 3 PMs in the meantime, but you never replied to any of them. I'd just like to know if you've actually received the links and if you're going to upload the modules eventually. I really appreciate what you're doing, but I can't get any players on the server if I can't even get my gamemode running.
Which binaries?
gm_aigraph, gm_cvar2, gm_glsock, gm_sentences and gm_tracex. All of them can be found in the lua section, I had to recompile some of them for linux though.
Surely the gamemode can run without them, why don't they run without?
gm_aigraph - Required for my SNPCs. Without it I can't use my custom nodegraph and most of them won't be able to navigate properly on most maps. gm_cvar2 - Required for the weather effects in my gamemode. (I'm using some fog_* commands which are marked as cheat by default. This module allows to remove cheat-flag from them.) gm_glsock - For communication between servers. Things like player info, chat, server messages, etc. gm_sentences - Also required for some of my SNPCs. It allows to load additional sentence files without having to modify the sentences.txt gm_tracex - SNPCs again. Gives more control for traces. My gamemode is based a lot around NPCs, so gm_aigraph is the most crucial.

I can't remember the full details from the PM though.
i will make a pwd server much pepole serach a pwd server
Some funny guy thought it'd be fun to send a 4Gbps DDoS attack at the node on and off for two weeks overwhelming the existing DDoS protection. Downside is the IPs have to change now. Good news is the free servers now have 10Gbps DDoS protection. Again offer is still going.
So the ip's haven't changed yet have they? I was about to send in a ticket but I realized you didn't say they changed yet.
The servers can be started but they can't bind to a port it seems.
So the ip's haven't changed yet have they? I was about to send in a ticket but I realized you didn't say they changed yet.
Going to be changing them over to the new IPs in an hour or so.
The IP listed in tcadmin and the IP that srcds returns arn't the same and you can't connect to either of them :(
The IP listed in tcadmin and the IP that srcds returns arn't the same and you can't connect to either of them :(
Please PM me so I can resolve this for you.
The IP listed in tcadmin and the IP that srcds returns arn't the same and you can't connect to either of them :(
This IP change hurt the traffic of our server severely. I'm glad you now have more protection against DDoS attacks though :)
This IP change hurt the traffic of our server severely. I'm glad you now have more protection against DDoS attacks though :)
Yeah, I know. It was either do the IP change or drop the free gmod servers - not going to drop them because someone got upset at a server owner or another player.
It's not too much of a problem right now, but if I upload a new version of my gamemode with the same folder name and everything -except just some shared / clientside files are changed then restart the server and run fastdl it doesn't work. It says stuff like this (Which means fastdl didn't work): [img_thumb]http://puu.sh/MKbF[/img_thumb] I just reverted the version and it works, so I guess I'll just use the older version until it's fixed.
