except I'm paying for mine i just post here because I thought he views this thread every now and then [editline]17th November 2012[/editline] which I was apparently wrong about
Christ, what is your problem? He views this thread daily and works hard to give people free servers. Just because you're paying for a server instead of using a free one, you're not entitled to be a dick.
Got a server, I'm in australia and the ping to it is great compared to most american servers, i'm getting around 200 ping. Friends in canada and etc get 90 ping, a few in america get 50-70. One problem but i'm certain its just how the linux binaries work so i'm not going to complain about it, plus i have massive ping so i have no right to complain about it.
I hope you enjoy your server! :)
Thanks Dark! Looking for this test our your servers :)
So darksoul69, will a casual cs:go on standard map rotation not be eligible?
Thanks again man
Thanks again man
No problem :)
If I say, get a TF server and decide later it'd be better as gmod, could I do that?
If I say, get a TF server and decide later it'd be better as gmod, could I do that?
I'd really prefer you make the decision on what to get beforehand, but yes you can do that.
I registered for the free webhosting package, but I used the wrong domain from what I've seen. Can you change it to xenoyia.net? I PM'd you by the way. Still waiting for it to be activated so I can change the nameservers and stuff :v:
enjoy :)
enjoy :)
You are a god among men. [editline]19th November 2012[/editline] Sorry, still looking here for the nameservers I need to change to. Doesn't seem to say anywhere on site :v:

Thanks a bunch for the server mate, btw I have a suggestion. In the commandline options, you should have the ability to set the rcon password through there instead of having to define it in the server.cfg, I know it's possible because I've used it with another host. It's just so nobody can access your RCON password incase they somehow get access to your server.cfg. :)

Do people you hate get a server. Because it seems apparently not. Which is quite the shame seeing as your offering to "everyone" who pm's you and also is actually nice.

Which is quite the shame seeing as your offering to "everyone" who pm's you and also is actually nice.
This isn't the place to ask that. This is just a thread for people who want a free gameserver, ask questions about the service and nothing much past that. It's not a support thread, it's not a bitch thread. PM him if you really want to ask that question.

Personal Review of the past Months Hello, I'd like to share with you all a review of the free service I've been able to experience, with Elpis. If I could place one word to describe the service I've had it would be great. The power you will have from your server will most likely be better than any other server hoster, paid or free. You will not have any disturbance to your server(s) from any other client on the same dedicated machine, as far as to my knowledge; as the machines are not overloaded. The support from the owner (Tyler), is amazing. My tickets are usually answered within the hour of posting them or within the next 24 hours. With my free server, I've been able to achieve a full 64 slot DarkRP Edit Server, known as 1942RP. Some of you might have experienced this server, its generally lag free. The average player has around 5-10 entities in the world ranging from printers to props. The map and gamemode are not optimized in a good manner but the server still manages to maintain a 26 tick with 64 players, which is quite impressive. Tyler, is also very knowledgeable with the games he offers, he is great with troubleshooting any Source Engine game and Minecraft. Pro's aside, I'd like to discuss the negatives I've had with Elpis. This is most likely a personal issue on my part, but I dislike that the servers run on Linux, again this is most likely personal preference. The control panel can at sometimes be slow but this is most likely due to the control panel, TCAdmin. Overall, I believe that Elpis is an amazing host, whether or not your paying or not. Especially if you're not paying, this service should be cherished as it performs greater than many of the payed hosts I've experienced. I see many posts on this thread which lashes out on Elpis for not meeting all of their demands, but you need to take into account, you're having a free service. Generally, with free service's your on your own when it comes to troubleshooting and support. This is not the case with Elpis. Before you, take out your rage in a support ticket, you should take the time to remember that this service is being provided to you for free. This charitable act that Tyler is giving all of Facepunch should be admired upon, as there is no reason that he would have to do this. Thank you.
Out of curiosity, did you take elpisupload.com down?
Out of curiosity, did you take elpisupload.com down?
For now, yeah. My coder quit on me (or lost motivation, or something) so I just shut it down for the time being. I'll be putting the mirrors back online in a couple of days and then I'll put the main site back up once the users are done (if ever). It's always great to know that people are having a good experience :)
Between December 5th and December 15th, you may notice minor latency spikes while some routes are changed (upwards of 30 seconds). Some downtime may also occur. Our provider has made the following announcement regarding this:
BACKGROUND / GOAL: We are continually investing in network infrastructure to keep ahead of network usage growth. To date we have provided industry leading periods of 100% uptime, and to continue this trend we are upgrading our network from multi 10-gig WAN capability to multi 100-gig WAN capacity capability. This will allow us to bring in many more 10-gig (or 100-gig if deemed appropriate) carrier connections and blend them together for a performance routed network (announcement coming early 2013) of up to 100s of gigabits per second of total WAN capacity. Our internal network capacity is already thousands of gigabits (terabits) per second. EVENT IMPACT: Network downtime, latency spikes, and/or packet loss. EVENT DESCRIPTION: Migrating BGP session from datacenter level to our network level. Procedure has been rehearsed with various subnets which has resulted in no downtime nor packet loss, only minor latency spikes for 30 seconds while routes changed. Due to the complexity of the migration we are allocating a 60 minute period of packet loss and/or downtime during a 4 hour window.
Note that this will only affect SRCDS servers. Our provider will also be bringing online new equipment at the same time to allow upwards of 20Gbps+ DDoS protection. We've been able to block/filter upwards of 10Gbps for over a week straight in the past, but this will give me a peace of mind in knowing that even if someones server is attacked and it takes a couple of hours to get filtered, after that it's smooth sailing for everyone. This will likely not be fully operational until January or February however. I'm pretty excited about this overall, it's a massive step forward - hopefully you guys won't notice too many problems during the migration, but if you do please do not panic and be patient.
That upgrade sounds sexy as hell.
erie1555's free server is doing well with 82 players:
82 players? wow, i was surprised about 64, it looks like its handling 82 players just fine.
It's 128 now.
It's 128 now.
How did you even...nevermind. Anyways, did the history graphs reset for the Minecraft servers or something? I used to be able to see the player count from the past 30 days, but for some reason, it seems to have wiped the history off the face of the earth. A week ago, I saw a bunches of jaggedy lines. We aren't doing so hot now, due to finals coming up, but I'm playing on it every chance I get.
