It's that time of year again for me. I'm going to be offering anyone who wants one a free server. They will include FastDL, MySQL, the works. I'm not going to limit you guys -- other then Minecraft, I'll take any request provided the server runs on Linux. I could care less about the slots, resources, whatever. The catch is that you have to actually have active players -- if it sits there idle for a couple of weeks I'll just remove it.

The server is located in Dallas, Texas on a E3-1230 and 16GB of memory.

If you're interested in this offer, please PM me and let me know what you're looking for in terms of slots/etc so I can set you up. I'm looking to fill this box so please don't hesitate at all -- if you're interested, I'll more then likely host you.

As for why I'm doing this? I believe everyone deserves a chance to get a community going. If you can't afford to pay for it, well that just sucks. I remember back when I originally started my first gaming community for Garry's Mod 9. Managed to get someone to actually give me a free dedicated server for seven months and built up quite a impressive community back in the day. Long since over, but perhaps I can give someone who desperately needs a server but can't afford it a chance.

I don't know if your be willing to give me one as I am still a new member to facepunch even though I have been a browser for a long time and have accumulated around 2,800 hours on garrysmod.

The reason I would like a server is because my friend hosts a ttt server 67.162.28.77:27015 which is a 24 slot in his house. At night we completely fill the server right now only 12/24. The current issue is that it sucks up a lot of the bandwidth he pays for and the computer is not the best. We went through 2 ddos attacks that made his internet come to a crawl where it came down to him using an old modem to get a different ip. I would like to get this for our little community so we do not rack up the owners internet bill and because im sure it will be far more stable. In the past we were hosting ttt and a sandbox server on his pc but due to popular demand we increased the slots on the ttt server and we could not host both. I'm saying we have been attacked twice. It was when we were running sand box and ttt at 12 slots for ttt. Apparently when we banned a little kid for rdming in ttt he started getting ddosed and it knocked us offline for an hour. It couldn't have been to strong since the server is running on a home pc. From the tone of your writing it seems as if you are stating we are getting ddosed often which is not the case its just the two time we have been ddosed which were all small scale it made him surpass his allowed internet bandwidth which is why he had to unplug and swap modems to prevent the ongoing attack.

Also for the record there has not been a ddos on the server in a long time and that was when the server only had a few regular players.

I was talking to him on Steam earlier, original OP said anyone could have the server but he recently changed because people just registered to host cracked gamemodes, didn't get the servers used at all and just forgot about them, etc, so he's changed his policy so that he doesn't have to keep looking through the servers all the time, just think of it as a security check, if you were in his position you can imagine the amount of kids that would sign up just for a free server, it's understandable

Also since it can't hurt for me to ask. What if we could work something out as in the first time we are using a lot of bandwidth or something you can just pull the plug. Also if you were to allow us to pay to rent a server how much would it be because as it is the owner of the little community is paying $40 a month more for his internet then it would be if he was not hosting it because no one wants to play on a server with slow speeds.

I'm sorry that you are upset. I've made the decision to not give people with low post count a server for a variety of reasons and I will not change that decision. Disagreements are all well and fine until you get half a page worth of posts from people who can't understand what the word no means - that's when I start asking you to stop posting and take it up over a PM with me.

If you can't get a server from me for free, accept it and move on. Everyone who has asked me so far has received one unless they have an extremely low post count/low post count relevant to the age of the account.

If you don't get a free server, I suggest just buying one from this site, they are awesome AND cheap <3
