MOST stupid reason you got banned from a GMod server? - Garry's Mod

Well alright, I was of course on a darkRP server. I was a drug dealer, sold shit in the shadows and to crooked cops. Well one of the cops happen to report me that I gave the drugs to had a warrent for my arrest. Well damnit, I had to pack my drugs up and run. I was trying to find a spot to run, well I ran into a guy and I said here man take these drugs there free(and yes this guy was an admin)he took the drugs, but didnt put them in his pocket.... And basicly got drugged up out of his fucking mind and died. Well I was laughing and all of a sudden BAM. Banned for reason: Drugging and Raping Admin. Really? Edit: For the life of me I cannot remember the server, it was a few months ago this happened.

Pantho. Do me a favor and add the Radio Broadcaster job to ByB. I would love to do a few talkshows on your server regarding rules and such. Anyway... RDM is a bigoted fallacy which is only brought up when someone is apart of a loosing party. Not to mention it's impossible for something to be 'random'... Cause and Effect should be taken in account when ever you kill someone in an RP server, and in most cases cause and effect usually has reason.

Another ban out of hand: I was a hitman on rp and someone gave me 4000$ to kill mayor. I killed he and he "wanted" me. In that server there are NLR, so the admin was ignoring the rules. I asked he about following the rules and he banned me: Kicked from server: Im an admin and I do whatever I want. Fucking retard

I don't accept the term because its used simply for blanket terming. As you have said yourself... It's up to the admins. Third parties which may not understand, nor care of the circumstances if it doesn't benefit them. This isn't only limited to the admins either. Players also use the term 'RDM' when they are on the losing party so that they can have anyone who objects them or doesn't benefit them to be banned or demoted. I personally do not understand why anyone would keep a rule like this if it's main purpose is to break apart the roleplay.

I said the term is defined by the admins. I didn't say the admins are the only people who can use the term. Anyone using the term "RDM" in a server, will have the term interpreted as defined by the admins. This definition is pretty much the same over all servers. I have never seen anyone use the term "RDM" because they were on the losing side of a battle. I have, however, seen RDM used in situations like the video link I posted above and the situations I have mentioned. The RDM rule does not break apart roleplay. RDMers do. Look at the video. This asshole is killing [b]everyone[/b] in the server. He is a [b]MingeBag[/b]. He should be [b]banned[/b] because he is killing people (read: deathmatch) without a valid reason (read: randomly). He shouldn't be banned for killing people, but rather banned for hacking. Why not let players deal with players[Police?] as such would keep an RP enviorment still rolling.

I do agree that having a `serial killer` style RP would be acceptable, but lets face it -everyone- would want to do it -all the time-, thus making it awful for a server.

The other option is organised role-play, you pre-plan it and pick someone who will do the whole serial killer role properly, and then put cops in who will actually do it realistically and not just chase him down a busy street spraying a machine gun everywhere. Some people think that pre-planned RP is bad because it ruins creativity, but if you do it correctly it can be really good, you don't plan it down to every detail, but you set up the general roles and situation then people can still be creative within that situation, and even change it completely providing their reasoning is realistic. In all honesty it's best to disallow it. It's a similar thing to hitmen, although in a real life city there probably would be one or two around, you've gotta scale things down to 40-50 people, which means it's very very unlikely in a sample of that size you'd find a hitman. Although this means that occaisionally a hitman in a DarkRP server would be `appropriate`, if you added a job for it or allowed it, it'd be full 24/7 with people wanting to use it.

14th January 2012. I own my own dedi, so I have been running various servers for a long time. I used to run a GMod sandbox server with quite a few STools, but nothing huge like model packs. As I was new to GMod at the time I 'hired' 3 admins to help me out with the server, all 3 of those are facepunchers who I shall not name. Any way the deal was this, I was busy with [I]very important[/I] personal family stuff at the time. My cat had just died after having her for all my life, as well as my mother who had just broke her foot a few days before and I had to to pretty much everything for her while she was in that state. 2 of the 3 admins who I had hired didn't take to it very well at all, they were thinking I was lazy and useless and that I couldn't run a server for shit, even though it was ranked as the #43 GMod server on gametracker for months. I came across this in the logs for that day, and as such I began to look further and further back, to find all of these admins have been harassing me behind my back for weeks, and breaking many rules such as advertising other servers and banning people for stupid racist reasons such as "too black". Needless to say, I was very upset after all of this and invited all of the admins to a group chat, where I was greeted with a simple "what?" by one of the admins. I tell them what I found and what they did wasn't deny it, but just started harassing me there. I have a bit of a log here: Admin1: what? Xenoyia: You guys think you can get away with this? I trusted you all with helping me with this server while I'm still learning how to do this properly. I looked in the logs and all 3 of you have been flaming me while I was offline. Admin3 has left the chat Admin2: rofl what Admin1: yeah so what, u are always not on the server and u dont update it or anything.. Xenoyia: what? I've been updating it constantly. I did a lot of work on the server this morning even, I just haven't been that active recently because of a lot of personal reasons Admin2: lol you come out of the closet or smth Xenoyia: excuse me? Admin2: XD Admin1: well we dont want to be admin for u anymore unless u give us ftp now Xenoyia: I'm not giving anyone but me FTP access; that is a huge security risk on the server. Admin2: hahahahaha XD Admin1: well u cant trust us so were leaving. Admin1: oh and have fun ubanning there 200 people we banned. Xenoyia: you did what? you know what, I can't deal with this, I'm banning all of you now. Admin2: have fun :3 Without having console access to unban at the time and feeling really under the weather, I went on to the server where I was greeted by 2 of the 3 admins (Admin1 + Admin2) who decided to permanently ban me and then everyone else who was on the server (16 people total). They left, probably got bored, blocked me on steam and then I've never seen them again on facepunch or steam. I managed to figure out how to unban a few days later, but ever since I've never properly trusted anyone as admins on GMod. ;'(

Is it bad to feel sorry for people getting banned for stupid reasons and/or the way I write when I comment on the bans, Twitterboy?

I have another stupid one I just remembered. It was on a sandbox server with ACF, and well as everyone knows if you shoot ACF at a door that was created by the door tool it imitates a crash showing the red disconnection in the top right corner of the screen,but doesn't crash the server, anyway. I was on the server with 3 other people one guy being respected and the other guests. Server took place in Gm _construct and one of the guests boarded up himself in that small bunker place right beind spawn, well I was making a Mech on the only flat surface of the map on the left side where the big brown building is. As I was doing it the respected person was shooting ACF all over the fucking place, and I told him " Hey man watch out of the doors if you hit them it will break acf, and of course he said " I KNOW THAT IM RESPECTED"(and had the worst fucking 5 year old squeaky voice on the planet). Now I bet all of you can guess what happend, he shot the fucking doors..... Well after the short lag I asked him if I could restart the server by crashing it and in turn fixing the ACF problem, he said fine go ahead. Server crashed I got back in an admin joined us, that respected kid yelled over the mic to the admin and said "HES THE ONE, HE CRASHED THE SERVER". I'm like fucking great... before I could say one fucking word. BAN Reason: crashing server and breaking ACF. I'm not even the one who broke ACF... :/ Fucking children sometimes.

I was on ByB #1 yesterday. The admin there was pretty good. (Martin was his name I think) I know this is just one experience, though.

Depends on the server. There's 6 semi-serious servers and 1 serious RP server. Also 2 TTT servers. 2 Zombie RP servers and 2 CS:GO servers. Choose.

Time to go on RP and just screw around, this has stirred up some memories!
