For eating a melon
someone called the admin a tosser and i agreed with him 10 seconds in from joining
I got banned from a basewars server. Me and 2 of my friends joined and were messing around when we found out we could use the color tool to make each other invisible. We all went around with a knife raiding peoples half built bases and killing randoms. Then we came across an admin (not knowing) and all tried to shank him. We all got banned perm. for trolling.
Wait, you think that's a stupid reason for being banned? You shouldn't be a dumbass. He was right for banning you, even though basewars is total shit.

Nearly got banned on a TTT server for, and I quote, "Taking my sniper. Only I can have the sniper."
Playing Gmod for the first time in a long time (2+years), playing stranded with a friend. Made base, didn't really know how to play, a kid (yes literally a kid) named Fluttershy managed to get into my base somehow and steal our iron, moved the fence a bit, he flew away and died. Screams propkiller, whole server starts raiding my base, we're getting spawnkilled and such. Forced to propkill/prop-push, however 'ya want to call it. Admin appears half an hour later after prop fights and random kills and such, probably banned, disconnected before I could see. Halleluyah Gmod!
How about I give you a stupid ban reason in a video format? [hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHiDushdnpo[/hd] Put in HD because you have to read chat. I'll send a PM to munch with this video. He said he had a script that did this.

Did you just recorded it on a Windows system or did you did some tweaking?

You're a huge asshole who acts extremely important when your not. And it would be nice if you stopped editing DarkRP and let someone more mature like Drakehawke do it. Was playing TTT if I remember right. Killed someone, and turned to my friend and said, "shot that n-gga." Banned.
That's not a stupid reason, just a shitty detection system, which you're abusing on purpose.
The ban reason is stupid because it's "I got banned because someone else prop killed himself". But yeah, I am abusing it to prove a point. I know a whole clan of people that abuse this as a hobby. Countless players have been banned this way. This script is retarded. I should have included a reference to my knowledge of prop killing. I am not using an authority of importance, I am using one of knowledge. I've been a prop killer since 2008 . I'm administrator on the prop kill group which has the best prop killers in Gmod. The reason why I use this authority is to be able to say the following: I've seen countless people get banned this way when I was in a server with my friend crash. I've heard even more stories about the most hilarious ways that minge buddies crash and v0bob got people banned. It is not an argument of itself, but it adds a ton of weight to both the reason why I'm so adamantly against these scripts and my arguments.
im gonna go out on a limb and just say that whenever anyone says something like this it usually never makes them look good
You're right. It doesn't make me look good. The thing is, I've tried debating server owners, but they won't listen. I think this issue is very important. I have to find a way to convince people. I've tried limiting my damage by immediately demanding the person to be unbanned. I'll contact Ross to apologize. Some of my friends who have seen the video, have asked for the ip of the server. I didn't give it to them. Sadly, it's not too hard for them to find out. Fortunately, though, the owner of the server is cooperating, which is very nice. The system on munch' server is worse than the one in the video, as it automatically bans. I've contacted him through facepunch pm's, but we're still discussing it. I sincerely hope I can convince him that these scripts are terrible. Prop kills need a human being judging the situation. It appears to be impossible to determine the prop killer automatically in an accurate way.
Prop kills need a human being judging the situation. It appears to be impossible to determine the prop killer automatically in an accurate way.
That is about the only thing you've said on the subject I'd agree with. In order to track it via a script you would have to check so many things. However the most popular seems to be pushing there own props into you, I guess you could add an on touch check to see if someone else touched the prop within a couple seconds of you dying. But then there are other ways and eventually it ends up an extremely complex situation that wouldn't exactly help the server performance. However the other point people argue is that you turned off sv_allowcslua in your gamebase by default in my opinion such a childish and selfish move. You claim you set it because clientside scripts are needed in DarkRP, that they can be helpful. While this it slightly true, we used to give a selection of scripts to our higher ranked admins that helped keep watch of to many entities / wire e2 ops / general mingery things. You tell people to use your svn/git version of DarkRP as it is best suited for the less knowledgeable server operators. The ones who don't want to maintain there own branch of a gamemode, yet you hide something so crucial inside the code? Why would you do that, at the VERY least make it a configurable option in the admin menu. If you have already done that then apologies I guess ;). However the simple harsh truth is you just want to hack on all these servers because you enjoy using such devices.
I will not discuss the sv_allowcslua default value here, as it is unrelated. The only reason the allowcslua argument was brought in this discussion was to make me look childish. About the collision checks, I've tried making it before, in a prop kill gamemode. It still wasn't accurate, if you fling a prop which hits another prop before hitting the player, the wrong person will still get the blame. This happened quite a few times in the gamemode.
How about I give you a stupid ban reason in a video format? Put in HD because you have to read chat. I'll send a PM to munch with this video. He said he had a script that did this.
I completely agree with you about the fact that it can be abused and probably has been abused in the past but I do argue that my system is better than the one shown in the video and I will also argue that such a script is doing more good than harm for me right now. System: Munch propkills Bob, all of munchs props are frozen, the player is frozen and given a huge red screen telling you that you have propkilled, it is against the rules and that you have another two chances. After the 30 seconds wait time is up you are forced to write "I am a propkilling retard" you are then unfrozen (your props stay frozen) and can continue playing. The fact that the propkillers props are frozen means that you cannot go back to that prop and use it to propkill yourself, it requires for the propkiller spawn another prop and leave it unfrozen on the sidewalk or whatever. Hopefully the person who had just been falsely accused would have realized that it isn't a good idea to leave props hanging around and would not spawn anymore meaning you can no longer propkill with his props. Users banned by system: 271 Complaints about the system: 0 Bare in mind if 271 people have been banned by the system that means in total 813 players killed by props, imagine how many bans an admin would have managed to hand out without the system? In a server with 40 players and 3 admins it's pretty tough to find who has actually propkilled who, console is spammed with people building and so on. As I've said many times in pm's and so on, I respect that you have a lot of knowledge about this stuff but I just wish you would understand that my script is doing more good than harm.

I do understand why you did it though, when GM13 came out and I decided to keep sv_allowcslua on it was so annoying to do things on my server without SaitoHud. So insanely tedius, specially when bug finding. So one of the first GM13 edits I did was to add them serverside to active for the higher rank admins only.
Stuff
I thought you only froze the prop that killed the other person. I'll check out your server to see how many of your claims hold up.
I complained only a page ago about your system!
Lol? You flung someone up in the air resulting in him being propkilled by your prop and you blame it on my system wtf. :v: Btw, I really don't need all of this brought up again lol.
A little off topic but why is the HUD on munch's server ripped off from Pistachio :v:
A little off topic but why is the HUD on munch's server ripped off from Pistachio :v:
Munch's server is using the default DarkRP HUD as for now. The server FPtje recorded his video on wasn't Munch's. Also, his propkilling system acts a bit differently.
The measures seem the same really. My personal belief is that if you truly want to stop-propkilling you need to start from the root of the problem. The present way of building things. Look at F2S: Stronghold, it's some of the most hyper-active fun you can have, and it's building system is very straight forward. Take out toolgun, aim and place. This system could also be revised for usage in RP servers by making it like the PAC Editor when building things. You build your house, spawn it, and whatcha know? You stop all forms of propminging with one swift kick to the ballsack. This type of system would also allow you to apply base/building restrictions via coding, therefore stopping any unnecessary bans against players who probably didn't want to read through 500 rules for one simple thing.
Or just stop props from damaging players?
Or just stop props from damaging players?
Would you rather have short term fixes or just fixing the problem entirely? :v:
