I should make a script that permabans people who changed their rp names haha. This is ridiculous.

When was being made/first out people kept changing there name during the round when called out as a traitor, using a name system such as rpnames is also a good solution but needless effort so slay/kick is the idea solution over a ban anyway.

Never program automatic repercussions when it could be avoided so easily. You can easily make it so name changes aren't seen by other players, in a similar way darkrp handles rp names. Just use the name of a player when he joined and stick with it until he rejoins. Kicking, slaying or banning are highly unnecessary, cause a lot of confusion (as posted above by someone surprised to be banned). And it fucks up the genuine player.

I got banned for prop-killing in TTT. I wasn't even near the guy who got killed and I was in a completely different prop.

Something else that is annoying is that people prop kill a lot on that server and I haven't seen a ban for that. I think it was mod that banned me.

Or they could be using some ass backwards admin mod that can't ban by steam ID. And, as immature as it is, "8==D" is typable. I try to ask people to change their name if it's abnormal, but I don't kick/ban over it. If they refuse I just copy their steam ID in advance. Why? Because I've ran across too many people with abnormal names that just join to fuck up your day. So it's better to assume no one with an odd name is safe.

Going from partial name matching, to tab cycling there name in a console list to a simple gui menu.

In the worst case, you could still get the steamid from the console the normal way.

You would be somewhat right if you feared toolgun exploits, but if you froze the person you wanted to ban first, you would be fine.

"5 minutes to learn how to spell the word rasist" It's quite funny because I was the one spelling it right (racist), so I argued with the admin about it and....yea. The admin was some 13 year old Alabama kid on a DarkRP server.

But regardless, yeah it takes time for it to zombify, but it also takes time until one notices it's lagging really bad because normal people don't spam out in the open, and usually try to pick the laggiest crashiest prop they can for quick effectiveness, like canal bridges. Seen those the most. Unless they were spamming babby's first propspam stuff like melons or what have you, it almost is immediate. By the time you notice that it's starting to lag, open console to see who it is, and then get their Steam ID, the damage is already done and it's incredibly hard to recover from. When that stuff happens I usually have to get another admin to spam the cleanup button on the offending user and I have to keep spamming a chat command* to ban them because neither will go through immediately because the server, by that point, is pretty much frozen. *Tested GUI banning, it takes even more time and attempts to go through than chat commands. Do note our server is pretty slow and fragile to begin with so they're more vulnerable to spam, but that's what happens when Vilayer shoves you onto an already-crowded-with-DayZ-servers box and has molasses slow support. Eh, it's a free server, so get what you pay for I guess...

I corrected an admin's spelling and got myself perma'd. Stupid 12 year olds.

One time I way back in 07 when I first started playing gmod, I had randomly joined a server. On the map flatgrass the server owner had set up a little area where he could spawnkill from relative safety. He had hacked the game so you couldn't leave unless you alt-tabbed out. Eventually I got away and was able to create a contraption that kill him. I got banned for "Trying to stop me from spawnkilling."

At least you got out the server without alt-tabbing :v:
