MOST stupid reason you got banned from a GMod server? - Garry's Mod

the reason i got banned from a server was this i saw a guy prop blocking on a sandbox server and i told an admin to come and look he didn't come and 5 secs later i got banned reason: he said it was a load of bullshit

For "Suspected DDOSing" on a server I had used to be a Super admin on >.< or "Propkilling Zombies" Because kid admins got really mad at me...

My friends and I use to shout 'BARRELS' on TTT before we would get into a massive brawl with props, and start tossing around flaming explosive barrels. PewDiePie comes a long and screams about it while playing ATDS, and now every damn kid gets up in arms defending PewDiePie saying we stole his concepts or overusing his 'jokes'.

This is why every single application for admin on my TTT server has to be reviewed by me, personally. I have to see them play. I have to see how mature they are. I start everyone at operator and promote from there. Sure, it means I only have a handful of ops/admins at the moment, but I KNOW each one of them is mature enough to handle the responsibility.

I think that if you apply than you can never become admin, in fact. You ARE allowed to suggest or be suggested by someone for Trusted, who have basic kick/noclip/god privileges, and many a time Trusted members will be promoted to admins. Although sometimes a player will be made admin right away Needless to say with this system there has only been one case of abuse that has happened in recent years.

Banned for trying to get people to follow the rules in the !motd while no admins were online. Permanantly banned without being talked to for "impersonating admin" When in fact all I did was explain the rules of the server at spawn where everyone could hear me. When servers ban you for something like this take it as their loss not yours

I also have a Trusted rank, but that's just a title and carries no additional powers. It's also a title that only I can hand out personally. I've also thought about requiring people who apply to first acquire that trusted status. I'll probably keep the application system in place, though. If it's a name that I don't really recognize, I'll basically just skim over it and move onto an application from someone whose name I DO recognize.

I don't usually hire admins that ask either, since they are obviously just power hungry.

I don't have sexual attractions is what I mean. If you had seen the other thread you would realize that "coolness" is low priority for me.

E.g only moderators can become admins with approval of 2 of the 3 superadmins and there can be only 3 admins. All moderator and up ranks have odd numbers for voting. Nobody is allowed to ask for promotion. This seems to work well for us. The rules ensure that only trusted and liked people can become an admin. We do not accept any donations.

Ok so I wasn't actually banned but I have a friend who was banned from all of Garry'sMod for hacks he didn't use (GAC much?) I heard that there are many other people who have fallen victim to this thing that don't hack, and even if they do hack I don't know how you can possibly justify putting them on an international ban list I actually made a thread about this in Help and Support questioning why such a system was even thought of, and it was only locked by garry for being a "crap thread" I really feel sorry for my friend though, all of his games are on one account, meaning that he would have to re-buy all those source games plus gmod if he ever wants to play MP again Seriously, isn't this illegal or am I just really mad?

You're just really mad. It isn't illegal since it is in the terms of conditions.

Although, I'm a little worried about my friend; he's become delusional-ish; claiming he's "26 years old" and a "hitman" and that he's going to "kill garry" when I know for a fact he's like, a 12 year old (given the fact that he's an admin on Greenzone Servers) :pwn: I guess I really wouldn't really give a crap about him any other way but honestly, auto-banning someone from every privately-owned multiplayer server in a game by default seems really harsh, especially considering that its just for "hacking" that you supposedly have "proof" of.

...But they all do that? VAC, Punkbuster, Whatever the hell it is EA use that literally deletes your origin acct: If you cheat on the game you get removed from the game permanently. Besides, it's not automatic. Garry deals out bans by hand.

I thought VAC was more of a detection system than a shared blacklist.

I once joined a TTT server with my friend. He was CitrisOrange and I was CitrisLemon. The mature sounding admin decided to ban me for a month because he found it confusing telling Orange and Lemon apart.

They would RDM, and then accuse "Noah" of RDMing, and no one knew which one they were talking about.
