I wish I could get a fin plane to fly right. I can never get them to balance properly. I've gotten a few close but they need constant trim correction to fly level, and that only works at a single given speed. :\ Parenting the bodywork to the wire chip allows you to repaint it without unparenting it.
Use nolift for everything, and look up how wings are placed on real aircraft
>:O and I agree much on you about heli weight, my heaviest heli is 7 tons, the one I posted. Its got 3mm armor, but a heli isn't meant to take hits. Nothing I can't stand more than a 20 ton heli with around 40mm armor
green. Put together a new aircraft chip. Handles planes, helis, and shit in between. Opcount is ~150, which is higher than expected, but still about 1/10th that of badger's heli or plane chips :v: Been doing some brain storming for balancing helicopters and aircraft, decided that to balance helis vs tanks, a heli should be 1/3 the weight (since it has the maneuverability & speed advantages, and no engines). So a ten ton tank would face off against a ~3.5 ton heli, a twenty ton tank would go against a ~6.5 ton, a thirty ton would be against a 10 ton, etc. This seems to fall roughly within realistic helicopter weights as well; loaded examples being the 8.3 ton Cheyenne, the Super Cobra at ~6.5 tons, the ~10 ton KA-50, the ~8 ton Apache, etc. Thoughts?

Did you mean to leave the Tach at x100 for prop engines? (I'm pretty sure prop engines are much lower rpms then acf ones but I could be wrong) Or are you going to use it for acf too?
I initially started with x100 because I use RPM-meters mostly for the fin propellers I put on my planes. But I'll make both x100 and x1000 versions available, x100 for those who want to see the 'real' RPM of a rotating object and x1000 for those who want it for ACF. That should cater for most needs. :downs:
Here's a hydraulic V8 I made, coupled with my transmission. Still needs a bit of fine tuning. Chassis is just for testing This is going to go in a can-am style car. Think this:
RATOP
and look up how wings are placed on real aircraft
I'm already fairly aware of this. I have a 72" aircraft hanging on my wall, been a bit of an aviation nut my whole life. I'll try the no-lift thing though, I do use a lift-by-plane-normal fin on the main wing when I build a Gmod plane. hydraulic engines always seemed like cheating, like they are akin to just attaching a wire wheel to make something go.
Not really. They do have their limits. They are just a crap load more stable than thrusters IMO. There's a little more to it than just attaching a wheel. They can be built in different configurations and gives me a little more to do building a car. That's why I like it. And besides, is having an engine you built in a car not cool? I tried thruster engines once upon a time. But they liked to break on me all the time. I have seen people get ample performance out of thrusters, but that's just not for me. Not trying to have a go at ACF. But I would honestly like this car more if I made the engine and trans as well. Without throwing a premade engine in there. Ah well, each to their own.
i guess the majesty behind thruster engines is the amount of skill in precision it takes to make an engine run well. it's like having a 60s ferrari engine vs an electric motor... hydraulic engines just don't have any class. they aren't fire breathing, angry, violent, convulsing hunks of props that threatens to kill everyone in a 20 foot radius while pushing a car at 60 miles an hour.
never liked hydraulic engines either, always felt about as fun as bolting a thruster to your vehicle.
Tough crowd.

The only time I found any sort of long-term enjoyment out of hydraulic engines is when the hydraulics were pushing on pistons. That configuration takes quite a bit of work to get right.
I might even convert it to a thruster engine sometime if I can manage to make it half decent. Anyway, enough about the engine. Here is some pics of the body coming along. Nice and schmoove. Only thing I'd say about it is that it's a tad skinny, but that might just be me.
hydrostatic drive. Not hydraulic engine. yeah my tiltrotor takes 20mm AC to the front with the slope but otherwise is pretty much vulnerable to anything above .50, or even some .50s.
hydrostatic drive.
I'm sorry but what are you even talking about? To be more clear, we're discussing the use of the wire hydraulic constraint being applied in such a way as to act in a reciprocating, rectilinear fashion about a crankshaft, inducing a rotary motion in order to do work. A hydrostatic drive system would make use of this rotary motion in the compression of a fluid, traditionally through the use of a positive displacement pump. This compressed fluid is then sent to a motor (often similar to the pump used to compress the fluid in the first place) that is able to convert the pressure of the fluid into a rotary motion and thus do work. The two are hardly similar.
Firts i tired to make TD but then i got problems to make gun move only up and down so i used the hull to build small Infantry support tank. Its heavy and very well armored for its size. Armed with 50mm Autoloader cannon and 12.7mm mg btw what i need to do for this to make gun move only up and down? Any good tuts on hydraulic engines? I've always tried myself and can never make them.

Sorry, retard question here. What props did you use for the headlamps. I can't find them anywhere, are they damn hl2 props?
I think they're CS:S map props. I'm probably wrong.
they are from hl2, I think you can find them by searching lamp or light
Sorry, retard question here. What props did you use for the headlamps. Download and stick in your C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\[Steam Name]\garrysmod\garrysmod\data\Expression2 folder, if you need any help setting the code up, just message me
btw what i need to do for this to make gun move only up and down?
Sorry, retard question here. What props did you use for the headlamps. I can't find them anywhere, are they damn hl2 props?
Yeah, just search for the word "light" in the search box and you'll find quite a bit there. Actually, there are a lot of really neat props buried in Source games. Certain keywords bring up a lot of useful stuff from door handles to radio bits. The search function is so overlooked these days.
Would be nice to have a spawn-list with those hidden source props the build community deems "useful". I know there are some really neat props buried in there, can never seem to find them when I need them, though.

Adds a little plus next to a few new categories of props.

We should have this engine in ACF.. Because.

I don't like the fact that it seems almost designed to look like a face in the front.
