Finally getting around to working on wheels. The rim needs work, but I am pretty happy with how this turned out. sexy wheel pic
Been awhile since I posted here, but those wheels look great. I would definetly use those over the stock phx race wheels. The material on those is shiny for some reason and it doesn't need to be since rubber does not shine like plastic. Nonetheless, great work. I was thinking of hacking (not literally) a few wheels off of flatout2 cars and making them into GMod models. Any thoughts?

The plastic PHX ones are just awful.
This would be great to happen, especially for people like me. I only have 8gb a month, and I can't download model packs or anything without using lots of internet :( but garrys mod is unmetered content for me, so if it came with garrys mod that would be most excellent. I really want to use these models :(
Its ~80mb, download it at the end of the month? (Would that even work? I don't know how bandwidth limits work.) Anyway, if my model pack were to be implemented I would likely not be able to maintain it; I would rather that didn't happen. If anyone wants to check out the wheel I made and give me feedback/suggestions, I would appreciate it. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/10388108/modelpack/SP_BETA.rar Goes in addons. model can be found under Browse>Games>All>SP_BETA or type "gm_spawn models/SP_BETA/tire_a.mdl" in console if you are lazy.
So is there a working version of precision alignment at the moment?
i don't care for the variation in the tread's texture; i think you should have the variation parallel with the wheels' rotation, not horizontal across it (dirtier in the center of the tread than the outer parts?)
I like the wheels a lot unrezxt, but on a different note..... am I the only one having a problem with even PHX racewheels (every other wheel too even the hl2 ones) sinking into the ground horribly in Gmod 13 even at really low speeds at least at 100 or less weight?
Yes but servers would have them as well that way, I have never come across a low ping server with custom models :(, plus I use most of my internet on dayz which drains way to much.
Despite the wheel weirdness, I managed to cobble this together. Got it up to a whole 32 mph bouncing like crazy because of the wheels... how I miss makespherical. If makespherical and precision alignment were on 13 I would be set. i made a little GUI for presets and Shortcuts, because i cannot save presets anymore D: this includes following settings: Adv ballsocket X Y Z Lock Adv ballsocket X Lock Adv Ballsocket Y Lock Adv Ballsocket z Lock Adv ballsocket z 25° Lock (steering clamp) Physprop jeeptire physprop jalopytire physprop phx_rubbertire2 physprop gmod_silent physprop gmod_friction physprop gmod_ice shortcuts to -luapad (if installed) -material browser -wire soundbrowser just bind a key to "shortcuts" (example: "bind p shortcuts") put in lua/autorun http://pastebin.com/6jE2jCsQ
Is it easier to make custom physprop materials now? Anyone know?
Is it easier to make custom physprop materials now? Anyone know?
It was easy, it is still easy just make a file on your Server in script/surfaceproperties and name them "surfaceproperties_<your prefix>.txt" and put this example into your file:
"super_friciton" { "base" "rubber" "friction" "99999" "elasticity" "2" } "extremely_bouncy" { "elasticity" "9000" "friction" "0.2" "density" "90000" }
Here are some commands: friction "float" density "float" elasticity "float" impactsoft "sound path" impacthard "sound path" bulletimpact "sound path" base "string - base material like rubber" scraperough "sound path" scrapesmooth "sound-path" Ok back to topic YOU WANT MakeSpherical?? Here you have it, i freshly fixed for gmod13 First apply Make-spherical, then constrain the wheel to your car, this MS remove constraints https://www.dropbox.com/s/hel46qjadlsf767/makesphere.zip
*gets on forums excited that found you can fix old MS with just changing from info.txt to addon.txt, sees post* :suicide:
*gets on forums excited that found you can fix old MS with just changing from info.txt to addon.txt, sees post* :suicide:
had to change usermessage to net stuff, to get correct render offsets & tool names (language.add)
Just a start. No attention yet on aesthetics. There are some serious issues with the ACF swep base. But they do actually work, are balanced, and have acf damage.
If anyone is interested in garry's mod content (like hl2 ep 2, portal) please contact me, can't paste the website, steam dose not like it C: Edit: Seems that people doesn't trust and rate me dumb, well w/e. Just wanted to help some people.
So, i decided to put some of my contraptions on here. I guess they're WIP since i have to make them compatible with wiremod when it's (officially) released... Ka-50 'blackshark' S64 sikorsky 'skycrane' (co-build with Chippy) a10c 'warthog' i hope this satisfies the op's need for flying things?
^ looks great, how'd you manage to get the skycrane flying smooth with a heavy weight attached?
how I miss makespherical. If makespherical [...] were on 13 I would be set.
MakeSpherical has been GM13 compatible for three months. Download the latest from my GitHub (either git clone the repo or just download the zip from that page) https://github.com/Falcqn/makespherical
^ looks great, how'd you manage to get the skycrane flying smooth with a heavy weight attached?
It's using a 50K unit weighing baseprop with the winch attached directly underneath its center of mass. Technically it can carry any weight under 50K without trouble, provided the applyforce can handle it.
On the topic of GM13 compatibility, I've just finished with Holopad. Any important broken tools that nobody's paying attention to? I could handle a few things.
^ I'm still getting script errors when I try to use the set-radius thing. Does anyone know how Advanced Duplicator 2 saves things? Save field is gone. And it's giving me loads of scripting errors...

any word from wire devs about fixing wire? e2 still lags like an asslord
I'm not sure what everyone is talking about with E2 lagging as I've never found it to lag or stutter, but there are a lot of features missing or broken from Wire; UWSVN is practically a must nowadays, but as far as I can tell it's nonfunctioning in 13. I do notice that it takes a while to paste and update E2 chips, though, and selecting an E2 code in the Q menu and trying to paste it doesn't copy the code correctly and you're forced to double-click on the code to open it. On another note, I'm getting script errors from ACF, even though I've made sure to install it properly. The error is stemming from some sort of "ACF_torch" whatsis.
E2 can cause servers to grind to a halt. the acf torch has always made a script error- ignore it. also, added an old extra mats list to the workshop; some of the GGG dudes made it ages ago. adds a few hundred mats to your mat tool.
