Small random question, if I were to teach myself lua and fix/remake some of the old addons, am I to release them?
If you want, sure. Couldn't hurt, just make sure you credit maker of the original addon, and as long as they don't request you take it down, you should be fine.
updated op tools, fading door link is now working.
Almost ready to release my wheel pack, just doing some more tweaks. So far, the wheel treads are over 50% darker than in the first pics I released, I added the wheel emblem to the wheel that was missing it, I made it so the wheels' colors only affect the color of the rims. Still have to do the bump maps and see how that turns out, and I'm thinking about adding a few more models. Oh, and I still need to make the spawn lists. Note: my current plan is to only release 1 size of each wheel, and everyone can use them as holo models and just scale them for more sizes. Any complaints with this? It will keep the total file size of the pack down, not like its much anyways, and will save me a little time.

Around the phx 30-35 racewheels?
If you were to do that, about what size would the actual models be? Around the phx 30-35 racewheels?
Yea, they are very similar in diameter to a size 30 race wheel Edit: on a slightly different note, I can also add steering wheels, as well as brake discs/calipers to the pack, what do yall think?
Yea, they are very similar in diameter to a size 30 race wheel images
Yeah, those'd be fine for most people, I'd believe. Doubt you'd see 5-point alloy rims on a tank these days.

Touche.
Spent all day in 3ds max so far, so I think Imma take the rest of the night off, so I will release what I have for the pack right now. Read the readme and follow the instructions inside, godamnit Dropbox link here, cause I'm too lazy to upload it to my svn repository..
Any progress on pa or acf-tools? Spent today updating a server with gm13-compatible tools and I'd like to replace my hacks with official solutions asap :v: Also, this caused me a headache so I thought I'd share the knowledge (in case not everyone knows about it already idk); The last two wiremod updates broke the interval function in E2. This server autorun script fixes it: https://github.com/ColonelThirtyTwo/GM-Improvements/blob/master/lua/autorun/timers.lua

I Was just wondering a few things: 1. Do you use Wire for ACF airplanes or what? I never understood how people made those :/ 2. How do people mount their guns? I Usually axis a 4 squares x 4 squares block and ballsocket a PHX plate on the front but i see people with round mounts and i wonder how they do that because using ballsockets hasn't worked for me ;? 3. Are there any public E2's out right now? Before the update (and after) i used the public "Simple Tank Chip V5" but since the last Update (Not sure if its Wiremod or GMod) those E2 chips don't work AT ALL, they produce sound but they got 0% ops ;/ I'm hoping anyone could help me and give me tips ^_^ i'm not too good at ACF and the stuff i have been making has been fairly simple and made within a hour time or so ;o Like BTR's, LAV's etc. with not much interior or exterior design besides the hull itself ;/

If needed, I could release a small e2 to make the holos, you would just have to input the color, size you wanted, and model.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by number two. And for number 3, the problem with that is that wiremod is having issues with the interval function, I think somebody posted a fix for that higher up on this page.
Guns as in tank turrets I assume.

ACF planes also require careful tuning, weight balancing, fin, propellors. Answer to question 2: Most ACF planes have fixed guns. A ballsocket based turret used on helicopters can be limited with some E2 work. The best way to do a tank turret is a special ballsocket constraint that can be done with PA (you have to do it exactly perfect or it fucks up). And you have to experiment with different mounting strategies, there are many methods to mounting stuff, you just have to see which one works best for you, Youtube has a few decent tutorials that you should watch. Answer to question 3: There are quite a few public chips floating around. Tips for ACF stuff in general: -Have your gears be "closer" to each other, this means no big ratio changes when shifting, it tends to cause alot of jerkiness and no performance gain. -Do not shift at redline, most people do this and in both cars and tanks it causes the vehicle to get to speed slower than if you shift just at the end of the powerband. -Choose your engines and guns wisely, know what you are doing with the finished contraption after you build it. Different engines are better for different situations, same with guns and ammo (do not just put a 23L V12 and a 140mm gun on a 15 ton APC or it will be one shotted) -Take time on ammo mixing. You want to get the maximum capability out of each round for the distances and things you are pointing a gun at. -If you ever decide to use composites, know that THEY DO NOT STOP A ROUND AND ARE NOT INTENDED TO. Composites are meant to redirect a round or the energy of an explosion away from vital components and most of the time when they re used, they are used wrong and will do more harm than good. -Always take the time to mess with your gearing. If you know what you want and tweak your driveline to get it there, you will fair better than if you did not. -Save and save often -Know what types of props are best for armoring. Generally thin props are good for armor while thick are better at absorbing blasts and slowing down penatrators. -Learn from what you did wrong -Remember that 95% of gmod tanks are easily killable in the 40-60 tonne range. Design your tank to take advantage of your opponents drawbacks.

How do you use PA for it anyway? ;o And every public chip i've found doesn't work except badger's hover/tank Universal chip but i don't know what to comment out ;O Edit: The "Simple Tank Chip V5" will aim now but i can't drive or shoot the gun but it seems like thats a Advanced Pod Controller problem ;o Besides that, am i allowed to use ACF's files and the tool to add my own stuff? I might not be the best at E2 etc. but i'm pretty good at LUA Coding and Modelling and i was thinking of making modernized cannons and ammunition (Fuse Timed ammunition, TOW-Missiles, Airblast Ammunition So on so on) It would require E2 coding to be able to set the fuse timers since you're able to change them on the run with about a 2 second time between switching.
D: Just realized the version of the wheel pack I threw up is fucked, didn't have any problems when i tested it before. For now, I'm pulling it down, will fix and reupload shortly. Sorry guys! Thanks Jess for pointing out that I fucked up, much appreciated Edit: Derp, I didn't change the material paths in the vmts when I moved the model location Edit 2: Fixed my stupid mistakes and reuploaded, here is the new link Let me know if I have any more problems. If you downloaded the pack before now, remember to move/copy the settings folder to your main gmod directory and overwrite the old files
What I do when making tanks is use center of mass axis. I have a turret base, which is axised to the tank base and the gun which is axised to the turret. So, basically like reality, except the pivot point isn't actually attached to the front of the turret.
but what i meant with the Airplanes is that i've never got a propeller to spin using ACF ;O
Axis, propeller tool, and straight gearbox+engine Oh and has anyone noticed that the latest ACF update has broken mobility, my cars keep inverting the suspension and throwing the car towards the sky for no reason at all when before the addon was updated, the same cars worked perfectly. I also noticed that the boxer engines take ages to get to maximum RPM and its a bit ridiculous and stupid. I hope this is not another case of "balancing" because its just blatantly stupid.
nvm :<

I'm sad I still haven't really gotten any requests, but I do have plans to add steering wheels, pedals, and seats to the pack. Just thought I would throw that out there. Yall can thank Jess for giving me the idea for pedals.
A few car lights or tail lights would be nice.
Oh hell yes, trying to model lights and stuff is a pain in the ass. Also, we could use some mirrors, and other just random bits and pieces from cars like louvers and such. Maybe for the really lazy some spoilers that aren't shittily made. :D
Let's just make a DIY car pack.
A few car lights or tail lights would be nice.
Jess suggested that too. I thought about it, but since every car has different lights, I wasn't sure. I could try it though. If I did do lights, can yall give me some examples of Lights you want?
Oh hell yes, trying to model lights and stuff is a pain in the ass. I'm.....I'm confused....what do you mean? lol Edit: Thanks to NTDave for sharing screenshots of the wheel pack in use :D Even notice the APB license plate, he took that just for me :D [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/18804041/ss%20%282012-11-03%20at%2007.16.05%29.jpg[/t]
