Has anyone ever made a boat that isn't powered by thrusters? I mean, I've made a paddleboat that moved with bouyant paddles but that moved at snail speed. The problem with boats is that because there isn't a way to power them besides thrusters or applyforce or whatever, it's quite easy to abuse the system.
Wheels can power a boat through the water really fast (who says races have to be fast, anyways?). One on each side in the back. Pretty sure karbine or someone released a boat powered in this fashion.
I believe that boat simply drove across the water using floating wheels and was still thruster powered.
May I suggest that if this truck challenge actually happens that we restrict the use of the 23l and 21l, otherwise its probably just going to be a bunch of heavy trucks with the same engine. Idk kind of boring imo

Anyways, I did make a boat with ACF and fin only, it was decent but to have a proper powerboat race, the propeller tool might work better. Edit:
Wheels can power a boat through the water really fast (who says races have to be fast, anyways?). One on each side in the back. Pretty sure karbine or someone released a boat powered in this fashion.
Karbine's boat had free spherical wheels to reduce collision with water, they did not power the boat, it had a rear propeller powered by a ACF V8. I also used the same setup in my test boat. Edit2: Oh you are not talking about his airboat, you mean the thruster powered shitcan speedboat....whoops Final Edit: You do not need a 21 or 23L engine in a truck unless if you are pulling 100 tons, people need to get creative, power follows the law of diminishing returns. You just dont need a huge motor in anything..
Oh. Regardless, it still works.
Hate to basically doublepost but... [t]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/560965477574509783/1C73557F53ED4BA69149F10726F5A14883AA3568/[/t] 3D rims with black brake calipers and rotors(calipers and rotors not shown) [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/560965477574505107/F3D2DFCEA256778E9E79FD0B3D72AD1283173861/[/t] or the standard sprops 5 spoke Which one is better? The car will be 235 props or less when complete
Definitely the rims in the last picture. The fancy rims in the first picture makes the car looks like it's owned by a rapper who wants to compensate for his male genitalia, or lack thereof.
May I suggest that if this truck challenge actually happens...
Also I suggest we get more than one person in charge of judging. Between MrWhite being busy, and then me being partially afk (Working on a group project for university which would have been done if my damn partner had done their work done on time, I'm sure you all understand that feeling), I never actually got my bus timed for the race. Which was kinda disappointing. I think having multiple adjudicators and filmers would just allow for a wider window of opportunity to make sure everyone has a chance to get their lap in. I might also suggest a secondary locked server to compete in.. EDIT: Also, rims in the second picture. I think they look more realistic. I find heavily cube-mapped textures look very fake in the source engine. (They look fine in other games, but the source engine is fairly bad with cube maps I feel)
May I suggest that if this truck challenge actually happens that we restrict the use of the 23l and 21l, otherwise its probably just going to be a bunch of heavy trucks with the same engine. Idk kind of boring imo
I think rather that you should be restricted to what type of truck you're making. The one I made has basically the same engine as the one I used in the truck, perhaps tho a little less powerful. The engines are not the problem, it's how people are using them.

That's not so say I won't help any way I can, but someone else is going to start it, not me. The bus race went wrong in too many ways for me to feel comfortable in trying my hand at another competition for a bit. Also with regards to your bus not making it into the video, as far as I'm concerned you're still welcomed to take a lap around the course and set down a time even though you're not in Jelknab's video. Let me know over Steam and we'll do it as early as possible. My stomach dropped when I realized you hadn't raced this last weekend.
I just want to make it clear now that I don't want to be affiliated in any way with this competition.
Oh, I meant that as an example as to why more than one judge is a good idea. Probably should have specified that. I'll get a hold of you soon as I've got some free time. Thanks for the opportunity. Also, no worries eh? Just a bus race for fun, not the end of the world. :)
There is no nobility in truck competitions anymore. :(
Not sure what else to do with this. I just don't feel like working on it anymore. Every time I try to slope down the cockpit to transition into the body, it doesn't look very good. I might just redo some parts of it, or move it down a bit. I've made a sexy ass tron style apache. The flying is immaculate and really fun. It just needs weapons now. What can i do to make a facer/vector thruster turret work through a cockpit? What i mean is have a set distance where anything within that distance is ignored by the facer / vector thruster. Also is there anything that can offer more realistic flight? Hoverballs or thrusters thrusting upward dont really feel the same as a real helicopter. Or at least how i'd imagine it'd handle if you were flying one.
I keep trying to make a hand turret out of AFC weapons, but after a few welds, ballsockets, and moves the wiring on them stops working. Does anyone else get this?
ahoy just finished up my new airship base model [t]http://i.imgur.com/uYKY3CG.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/4lypEVs.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/SrYqDi6.jpg[/t] larger and heavier than my other one, twin engines and no hydraulic rudders (two engines means I can use differential thrust to my advantage and lose the extra complexity) again uses the same technique to stay afloat - you can pack tonnes of ammo onto it and fire off some of it, lowering the mass and it will compensate by decreasing balloon force blah blah, no constant computations or anything, just a trend equation Excel spat out now I can branch off of it and create an AA/light ground assault version as well as a heavy ground attack only anti-armour version
Finished mah triumph tr6 173 props 2.2l I6 [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/919002284734718893/710996C76B5EDD5C8D1626E913D5367F51C3FE9A/[/t] [t]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/919002284734720709/3685BD391EBA497C0FD84C4ADFBF35F2726F80AA/[/t]
Giving a friend of mine drifting lessons :p,
Ghost (aka Snail) with his truck, transporting my stuff. No welds. [t]http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii113/Frankess/Gmod/gm_freespace_130002.jpg[/t][t]http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii113/Frankess/Gmod/gm_freespace_130009.jpg[/t][t]http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii113/Frankess/Gmod/gm_freespace_130013.jpg[/t][t]http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii113/Frankess/Gmod/gm_freespace_130003.jpg[/t] We really need truck comeptition. It's so much fun.
Giving a friend of mine drifting lessons :p,
It feels like you've just turned the wheels to ice.
It feels like you've just turned the wheels to ice.
They use jeeptire :o.
They use jeeptire :o.
for drifting just use rubber, less traction than jeep. not rubbertire 2, that shits annoying but just default physprop rubber
for drifting just use rubber, less traction than jeep. not rubbertire 2, that shits annoying but just default physprop rubber
But it works perfect the way it is now.
I keep trying to make a hand turret out of AFC weapons, but after a few welds, ballsockets, and moves the wiring on them stops working. Does anyone else get this?
Ive done this like 4 times, you are better off making a rifle with propcore and ACF stuff and things
So, I ended up pulling the Monarch apart and making it wider by 6 inches and taller by 2 inches. [t]http://i.imgur.com/idmCy0K.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/YwAqfh0.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/Yxdj17m.jpg[/t] Also laid down the beginnings of an interior. Still needs work but it's about waht I had in mind. [t]http://i.imgur.com/XnSH13l.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/wdymacZ.jpg[/t] I'm quite happy with how the rear bench turned out. [t]http://i.imgur.com/hW37HcV.jpg[/t] Also roughed out some of the specs: Monarch, with 6-speed manual transmission and a 3.6L V6. Monarch D, with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 4.5L Diesel V8. Monarch S, with 8-speed semiautomatic transmission and a 5.7L V8. Monarch SR, with 8-speed semiautomatic transmission and a 7L V12, optional carbon trim package. They'll all weigh more than 2 tons and come with some fancy E2 stability control package nonsense.
That is some sexy ass interior.
best interior maker 2013 all years [editline]edit[/editline] Is the wood from your texture pack? It looks lovely.
Yeah, all those materials are from my texture pack except the seat material, which I believe is from SProps. And thanks :3
Door handles and side mirrors [t]http://i.imgur.com/86eVYds.jpg[/t] and headrests and door panels [t]http://i.imgur.com/nzPXzvy.jpg[/t] and a nice big rear armrest [t]http://i.imgur.com/IfNyOP7.jpg[/t] Ignore the broken holograms in the first picture and the lack of color.
