updated acf today. i added that missing turbine sound. --1.2 & 1l engines buffed and changed to 1.5 & 1.6l engines --1.8 and 2.0l engines replaced with bigger 3.1 & 3.7l engines --Sounds for 16l, 4l v12, 3l diesel, 1.5l & 1.6l changed --Added Dual clutch differentials --Added 8 speed gearboxes --Added 2 speed gearboxes (transfer cases) [editline]15th May 2012[/editline] i know there's a lack of reasonable 4 cylinder displacements, but whatever. the 3.7l makes around 250 horses, and the 1.5 around 80.
all these cars tho we still need more tanks.
all these cars tho we still need more tanks.
no we don't. also the thread title is now fullfilled, time to request a new one. brb
A little project I've been working on the past few days. Not quite finished. Still needs mirrors/lights and of course the shock absorbers, which will be tricky considering the weird setup they have.
THIS IS INSANE! but aw, now I can't make my own hologram suspension, I had great plans.
no we don't. also the thread title is now fullfilled, time to request a new one. brb
I think in previous threads we had enough tanks. Planes and helicopters are rare. Maybe the next topic title should be: "Post Your Current WIP V.3!: I want more flying things!" EDIT down: Just "Post Your Current WIP V.3!: Redreaper is very optimistic edition".
"Post Your Current WIP V.3!: I want more flying things AND redreaper is very optimistic edition" does that fit
Currently I lack ALL the motivation to make anything useful... want to make a new sand buggy though...
Me too! Haven't built a full contraption since 2011 :c

Small question regarding ACF on my own local dedicated server and on singleplayer, where do I need to place the sounds for them to work?
"Post Your Current WIP V.3!: I want more flying things AND redreaper is very optimistic edition" does that fit
On it. If phoenix would come around I could finish the boxwing a lot easier, but I'll have to do it without him, seeing as he seems to have abandoned us. I'll have to dissect his propeller systems
Toying around with applications of the larger ACF Diesel engines. Of course the first thing I went to was trains. BECAUSE TRAINS ARE FUCKING COOL. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/wjKth.jpg[/thumb] Two engines, each with four 21.0L V12s [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/juoaI.jpg[/thumb] They sucked pretty bad to be honest, it took two of them to pull 140 tons at 5.5MPH. They could do about 12MPH unloaded. I'm not sure if it was my ratios just sucking, or the locomotives just being underpowered. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/u13gw.jpg[/thumb] Also, any chance we will get XL Engines/Transmissions at some point?
What ratios were you using? Surely 8 diesels had enough power to move faster than that.
Update, Most of the Marlin is done now, it flies under its own power. All that's left to do is install the brilliant retracts Iwan came up with. Features: Fin-ness GPU PFDs avionics cooling fan and cabin circulation ambiance radio chatter mouse wheel based trim
What ratios were you using? Surely 8 diesels had enough power to move faster than that.
Something relatively half-assed like 1, 0.5, and 0.25, and their opposites for reverse movement, with a final drive of 0.1, and a 1:1 gearing through the diff. Though I really suspect that the issue is that the engines' power band is so low. High ratios kill the engines' torque, however they redline at a relatively low 2500RPM. Real locomotives hook their diesel engines to AC generators and use traction motors to power the wheels. This allows the engine to run within its powerband at all times, without constraining the speed of the train to a fixed speed of the engine, while also eliminating the need for a full-on multi-gear transmission and a clutch capable of transmitting enough power to start several hundred (or thousand) tons moving.
Took a couple sexy pics of it now that it actually rolls. Going to be a while before I finish it though. So yea I've been around this thread for some time now just watching you peoples creations, and I wonder if some of the stuff you upload here is built in hammer (Or anything similar) or everything is done in the game. Been a while ago so i must keep up-to-date, and I've worked with hammer before. Thanks in advice.

While you guys are building cars and shit, i'm having a nostalgia trip. Silly drivin' eey.
oh god nostalgia. Mario Kart 64 and Perfect Dark were my teenage years.
oh god nostalgia. Mario Kart 64 and Perfect Dark were my teenage years.
quit lyan u 12
I decided to release it tomorrow but I went fuck it and released it today anyways. Not sure if it's all that useful to you guys in here but I was told to do a tutorial on this too so I did that. Next tutorial will be suspension / steering / applytorque engine if I can get around it. [editline]edit[/editline] oh god I just realized that the first clip after the intro is pitched, I shortened the video so now the first clip makes my voice higher pitched fuucck. live with it. Use physprop_material jalopytire if you want more grip.
waitwhat I was always told that jalopytire had way less grip compared to jeeptire.
waitwhat I was always told that jalopytire had way less grip compared to jeeptire.
Hmm. I always got better grip with jalopytire.
I've never seen that demonstrated. Jolopytire has always had more grip than jeeptire, and I've seen proof of it on several maps. The material of the ground matters, and on the same materials jalopytire always wins out.
Hum, do someone have a tutorial on how to make the most efficient car base(I mean, suspension and steering) Edit: Nevermind, i found one.
Hum, do someone have a tutorial on how to make the most efficient car base(I mean, suspension and steering) Edit: Nevermind, i found one.
There's a ton of tutorials on stuff in the OP. Maybe I should mention that in the title of the thread. [editline]edit[/editline] also if you have some tutorials you want added to the OP, shoot me a message or something. I'll add them.
