mine is small. I'm very hesitant about awarding you a gaybow after that less-than-enthusiastic reception. You, sir, almost lost yourself a rainbow. So, I'm new to build, what is a good parenting stool? Also, is there a FinTool that would work with Gmod12? Or something similar. If you're going to suggest wiremod, suggest me a tutorial.

wait I just realized I forgot to add fin2 + dmans fin tutorial to the OP. let me just do that. [editline]edit[/editline] if someone has the SVN links for ACF, post them and I will add them to OP.
alright that's enough. Not everyone wants to use ACF, mainly because some people can actually do applyTorque properly. That means not having "infinite grip" (where did that even come from?) or having instant max RPM. I personally use an automatic E2 gear changer that changes the gears on the applyTorque flywheel. It also doesn't have "infinite grip" and "infinite torque". It all comes down to preferences. I mean christ, what happened to opinions? Just because ACF can be neat, which it is, doesn't mean everyone should use it because people have different opinions. It's an electric truck, as far as I know ACF doesn't come with stuff that allows you to make a realistic electricity vehicle. It would sound like some diesel or petrol and feel like a diesel or petrol, not electric.
Waaaaait up a minute - I think i have been mis-interpreted - I was not attempting to make a "LOL ACF IS BEST EVERYTHING ELSE IS GAY FAG FAIL LOLOLOL I'M SO RAD" statement. Sorry if that was your interpretation! I was just commenting on the highly unrealistic features of nutsandy's truck... Also, Jackpody, http://acf.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/
Im not trying to advertise but I do have ACF on my server if anybody cares to check it out. It plays surprisingly well on a server, I have not noticed any substantial increase in lag.
Meanwhile on the other side of the world... Been looking forward to acf naval battle for ages. Still a WIP, so far so good. It will have 5x100mm guns, 4x20mm cannons and dual 2x12.7mm machine guns. Will be powered by acf engines too. Still thinking of a name for it...

Also, Jackpody, http://acf.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/
So petrol\diesel engines on an electric truck are more realistic then? [editline]23rd May 2012[/editline] Also, you're commenting on how unrealistic his truck is, mainly by saying that it's not ACF. Any way you put your comment, you really can't justify your original comment.
Im not trying to advertise but I do have ACF on my server if anybody cares to check it out. It plays surprisingly well on a server, I have not noticed any substantial increase in lag.
This man speaks the truth; his server runs surprisingly well. Actually, there have been a lot of servers that have popped up the last few months or so that are actually really good. [editline]23rd May 2012[/editline] So, I made a mistake with the code I posted earlier in that I forgot to include an argument that would shift the transmission into park on startup. See, the code revolves around gearCounts, or selections that tell the code how to handle shifting. The code is supposed to start in GearCount 3, which is Park (gear 1, range 1, full brakes), but it instead started in GearCount 0, which doesn't exist. This isn't a problem if you just shifted into GearCount 1 or higher, but you aren't supposed to need to do that, so I updated the code in my post. If you had any interest at all in trying it out, it works now. Go grab it.
I don't have a lot of time atm but I still have a content full post. take my washing machine. [editline]edit[/editline] specs: 0-60 RPM in 9 seconds, top speed = 120 RPM, automatic door shut mechanism that starts the machine when you close the door. the door also stays closed until you pull it, if you pull it then the washing machine stops. this is the best thing I have ever made.
You fags made me build a car. I hate you all.
Vas is das?
I was in the process of working on an engine and it occurred to me after watching a video that people are able to achieve much Higher RPM's than I can. It seems like my engines cap off around 540-565, anything more than that it's just spazzing. Is there some setting I need to achieve higher RPM's?

That addon is a must! There is some code you have to put in your console to make it "work". Also if you use your engines on a server then you must contact the admin to get the performance your looking for. phys_airdensity "0" phys_maxvelocity "500000" phys_maxangularvelocity "500000" After you enter that, the magic begins!
or just build low-rev high-torque engines like I do.:v:
or just build low-rev high-torque engines like I do.:v:
In my experience, it's kind of nice to have the insurance of a higher operating RPM so that if the engine is going to stall, it has a ways to go before it stops. 1500rpm engines are best engines.
snip Complicated, We must have a naval battle sometime.... How heavy is that ship? I have a ~400t destroyer. BTW, how fast can you get that sucker going? 13mph seems to be the highest I can get...
i don't understand why what is your idea of "realistic"
Tracked vehicle steering is a very complicated subject. Non-maybach double diff regenerative steering should be added (continuous torque bias from an external input, a la hydrostatics or allison crossdrive), and I don't think the differentials work quite 100% right with torque splitting. . And clutch-brake steering is very sluggish unless you "bend" your tracks to change your ground contact patch, which then means your vehicle rocks back and forth violently unless you add dampers. On a semirelated note, I figured out a good way of doing suspension for tanks without the issue of wobbling due to makespherical's weird contact patch. Tutorial will be up whenever I feel like it. V-twins get me lotsa torque and work better than I4s imho. If you don't give a fuck about balance you can use an eccentric crank.
Why would you ever use an eccentric crank

Maybe you made a have designed a physical means of timing or "firing" of the thrusters. Explain that a bit more. What is an eccentric crank?
Tiny update on my car, along with some information, which I didn't share before because I was tired to hell. It's not based on a certain model, just something I've put together from my imagination. However, I'm sure the front does resemble of something, but I don't know much about classics so I can't tell. It'll be ACF powered and stuff. Also, this is basically my first car that doesn't suck right at the beginning.
Why would you ever use an eccentric crank
Building a Walschaerts valve gear.
Building a Walschaerts valve gear.
I would love to see that when it is done!!!
Building a Walschaerts valve gear.
Ok then, let me rephrase; Why would ever need an eccentric crank [editline]24th May 2012[/editline]
What are you talking about so far as ignition points?
Yes, grab this: http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=89384.
Whoa, can't believe I've never heard of that before, thank you. Is there some secret or method to maintaining stability at higher RPM's (Anything past ~600)?

Is there some secret or method to maintaining stability at higher RPM's (Anything past ~600)?
Extremely high build precision, and no hard ballsocket constraints. Only constrain the axis of rotation. No rotating welds, either. [editline]24th May 2012[/editline] What have I done: [T]http://i.imgur.com/FLsTk.jpg[/T] 2 hours, 20oz Red Bull, Precision Alignment, and Physgun Buildmode don't mix. To be fair, I fleshed it out a bit more and I'm kinda liking it. I can live with the front end, but the back still looks like someone fucked up a snake: [t]http://i.imgur.com/YnWGp.jpg[/t] I actually need advice on the back if I am to even consider keeping this and making it work. I don't like how it flairs out at the bottom, but I'm not sure how it would look if I tucked the edge in, either. Any thoughts? Ha, I also figured out that I can realize the same shape for the back with 5 props instead of 50.
