I saw that cute td earlier.
Floppy, E2 is a phrase short for "expression 2". It's an in-game scripting language which works through wiremod which basically, in a nutshell, makes a wiremod computer and at the same time lets you apply force to an object. It does anything you can do with thrusters or wheels, and lets you create much more complex contraptions. If you go over to wiremod.com they have a number of good tutorials which, if you watch enough, you'll eventually pick it up with some trial and error. Released copies of code for various contraptions are also useful, as you can see how various people come up with solutions to complex problems. For a quick reference guide that even experienced players use, look here: http://wiki.wiremod.com/wiki/Expression_2 There is a good tutorial very recently done by a forum member here. I progressed. The rear is getting a better shape :

About 260 props by now.
Looking pretty nice. You think we could have a shot from the front again though? Also I progressed a bit on my Mustang. It's a bit prop messy at the moment because I just want to get an overview of it at the moment. God I need to fix the front.
looking good, mate. it reminds me of sabre or clover car in gta:sa :D
Because two ton tankettes are awesome, I made M637 Tetra. 14.5mm Machinegun 1.6l Diesel 4-20mm armor Front stops 12.7mm and 14.5mm tracer Side/top/rear stops 7.62mm
guys, why do you always put engines in those contraptions? what's the use of it? [editline]3rd June 2012[/editline] the engines. what I mean are those red and metal contraptions. I mean, you could just add wheels to make it move, right? why would you still add those fancy engines? [editline]3rd June 2012[/editline] since I never posted any PHX contraption to this thread, I made a rushed out one to even that, but it's still WIP so, it's not finished also great for transporting objects, heavy animals and dead bodies! [editline]3rd June 2012[/editline] all those that clip, I will fix it in time. PS: it's slow like real life [editline]3rd June 2012[/editline] holy s*** I am an idiot.... I put the chair in the wrong direction *facepalm*
I'm really glad you joined the Facepunch community Floppy. We need more people like you and everyone else who posts in this thread, unlike the rest of the gmod community which is probably the majority who just want to darkrp.
pahaha, didn't notice the seat until you pointed it out, would be interesting trying to drive it.
the engines add a sense of realism. They have realistic performance figures compared to the weight of the vehicle. However they add a level of complexity which is why most people start out with applyforce or wheels or such before using them. Also, iwan, you read my mind. Tankettes are awesome.

[editline]2nd June 2012[/editline] I'm special.
Hehe, I started out with thruster engines.
Me too, lol.
A little vehicle i've been working on, Still a WIP. I'm not sure if anyone can recognise it, but it is supposed to be a modified Suzuki Jimny

(not pretty sure of the latter though, cause when I see them controlling it, it seems like it's an easy contraption to drive, unlike in games) [editline]3rd June 2012[/editline]
A little vehicle i've been working on, Still a WIP. Wait, what is a Suzuki Jimmy? I think GMC made the Jimmy and Suzuki made the Samurai.
Engines pretty much exist for the added engineering challenge, least that's why I use them. If it hadn't been for engines, Phoenix and I would never have come to optimize fin aircraft like we have.
Wait, what is a Suzuki Jimmy?
Side/top/rear stops 7.62mm
7.62mm wat
7.62mm wat
Custom ACF content. Like smaller .50, max 10mm of penetration.
jack that mustang is really, really off.
i didn't know acf had custom content. Do elaborate. Also: anyone else having a problem with ad2 where you dupe something and the weights are screwed up? like I set detail prop weights to 1, but upon duping, they're back to their default weights? It's fucking annoying as shit.
jack that mustang is really, really off.
yes and because of that I am now making something that is more complex, not because I can because I don't think I can but because I may be able to. you should try making the skeletons of your cars instead of fully building a single area- work it how an artist does a painting- they sketch it out with pencil, make sure the proportions are correct, and then fill it in. [editline]2nd June 2012[/editline] proportions are the key to anything looking good. and really? you have 9 little cubes making up the right and left flat surface corners of your bumper? christ man, use some visclip. adv visclip works wonders, I need to make a video of how to use the advanced one.

It's a neat tool but it seems a bit iffy and I'd probably only use it for singleplayer stuff. Mainly considering that if you join after visclip was applied, then you wouldn't see them. [editline]edit[/editline] though the current 80 props would probably only be 40 or so with visclip, which does make me want to use it.
so just respawn the vehicle, who cares visclip saves dozens and dozens of props that not only RSO but drop framerate
