Yeah no. I use it only for mirroring and that is not as fast as I'd like.
Pretty much everyone builds without using precision alignment for every prop, I prefer to build than mathematically align every prop.
PA has a steep learning curve. It be used quickly and easily if you know how to use it.
And using PA only for mirroring is like buying a universal remote to use only for a tv.
It has a lot more features than just mirroring.

I usually abuse smartsnap, easy precision and the rotate tool at 5 degree increments.

PA isnt just an over complicated Easy Precision.

so if wnana make a high prop car you would manually place props one by one on each side instead of using PA? sounds tedious
Oh god. Must have save DL. Please.
This thread needs more people who will share their fantastic work yet able to rip the living fucks out of anyone dumb enough to steal.
enjoy trying to start it up

paste that in a .txt file and throw it in data/ad2. not entirely sure if it'll work
i always read your name as "shadowpenis"
I used to be against PA until I learned how to use it. It's like every single building tool built into one. I've used it to constrain, place and clone props. I've used it so much that I've gotten to the point where it's faster than every other tool I've used, and I'm only bottlenecked by deciding the props that I use.
i feel like using ep and pa yields best results. pa is slow and precise, while ep is quick and easy.
And that's why you build like shit.
Says the guy who pretty much defended the turret size of my contraption a few pages ago.
My point to the guy who made that is that you don't have to use stuff like precision alignment, because so long as your physgun work is well done to where the edges are mostly perfect, it's fine.
Some people with precision alignment will beg to differ, but it has an annoying learning curve and for the times that I actually spontaneously go into gmod and start working on stuff, it's not worth the time for me to actually learn how to use all of it's functions perfectly.
Anyway, now I know my contraptions are shit, care to give me some advice on the bad areas of them in the screenshots so I can improve?

My contraptions' props are placed almost solely by PA and EP nudging. I got to a point where I can touch-PA because I memorized where the buttons are on the screen, so it doesn't really slow me down at all. I have been known to physgun place things like engine nacelles though, as long as the prop I'm placing can then be mirrored to the other side.

So it's applytorque vs ACF now?
Well, farewell thruster engine age...

What? Where did I do that?
I wanted to make a tankette, but it sort of became a failed attempt.
Instead, it'll become an RC explorer. (Chassis not final.)

no its thruster and piston engines > all imo
i was too lazy to make an i6 for it and plus do u really think i made that chassi well enough to deserver a motor?

OBJECTION!!!
there are 0 weld constraints on my car. i parent the parent to the baseplate and the rest is PA elastics
He's not hating on it. It just looks like a funny face.
no the jeep's suspension looked so rigid, like it was welded, and the what picture is only being used because it looks like a "are you fucking kidding me" face
ALSO paddy those models, i like their overall design, but your modelling skills could use some work. your smoothing groups are a bit messed up.
Hey Amplar, is there an ETA on when missiles will be added to ACF, or indeed additional cannon models?
beggars can't be chosers. :|
Also why are the turbines so fucking huge? Packing problems out the ass.

That little thing on the front bottom that looks like ass, the grayish-brown snail, the FRONT part, puts out 1500hp. What the shit.

Oh yes, I should also mention that there are binds to make you really fast at PA.
That and the stock shortcuts.

Sestze said that missiles will be worked on once he solves out his computer issues and gets enough time with his dayjob. He says the hard part will be working with the derma and the tool menu. I'm not a lua coder, and he can speak for himself, but I'm just giving you a timely response.

used the smoothing only for rendering.. this thing had about 3000 faces.. too much so i decreased it to ~2000

Chevrolet M38 Wolfhound?
I got bored so I opened Maya.

Loosely based off a Honda GY6. Not really please with the pipes, but I forgot to turn my smoothing groups on before rendering.

aheuahe
PA, ECS, and Physgun Buildmode are the best.
