where are the console tool commands?
I finally got into the building mood again. This is an expedition vehicle.

This train is insane! It's pulling 1,122 metric tonnes! Uses Hydraulic engines. Still very WIP and I'm working on the bodywork.
The Lever simulates the power the hydraulics output, and when I'm done it will have loads of small stuff like that to indicate different values.

Resize your images please. Not everyone has the luxury of using big monitors.
Done, Although I did warn about large thread.

Update on the design of the train. The train itself weighs 84 tonnes.

Well, released model pack. I will be adding more, but whats there right now wont
change, so its safe to build with them now.
Another contentless post :v, I am working on a new Dreadnought, will post when the progress is reasonable.
how do you use hoverballs
slappem on with weld, wirem up
how do you use acf
slappem on with weld, wirem up
how do you use applytorque
slap e2 on, wire it up.
gee, you don't even weld the chip, that makes e2 easier.
applytorque scenario:
vehicle doesn't have enough power:
increase torque multiplier
vehicle has poor climbing:
increase torque multiplier, decrease wheel rpm limit
acf scenario:
vehicle doesn't have enough power:
reduce vehicle weight
put in a more powerful engine, which may require the chassis to be reinforced and suspension balanced
vehicle has poor climbing:
reduce gear ratios
put a transfer case in to create a low-range multiplier for the gearbox
make vehicle lighter
redistribute weight ballast to front of vehicle
now, which one's more realistic
I always seem to enjoy new posts in this thread, even if it is drama...
notice how i'm not saying which one is better, just one is more realistic than the other
remember people, i'm not completely against the use of anything but acf, people can use whatever they want. i don't judge peoples' shit based on how it moves, i just get bothered when someone portrays a different movement system (usually applytorque or e2 simulated engine) to be more realistic than acf
it's like someone trying to defend need for speed as more realistic than gran turismo
I'm better at sandbox than all of you :downs:
/oh wait you're talking about what's more realistic? My Daewoo is the most realistic contraption in this thread. Zero lag, piston engines, consumes fuel like acf engines. It takes the best of everything.

uhhhhh
uh
are you serious or are you just being an arse right now, cannot tell.

did not expect this, let me get content.

also I think I did a fuckup. karb, you may be able to answer me on this. so roughly 700 props, I get 60 fps looking at it which is pretty much just fine for me. now I parent it to a gate on the roof and all of a sudden, I get 12 fps whenever it moves like if it was welded. I've had roughly 1000 props move without lagging more when moving compared to static. it's pretty weird.
however, I remember magnetizing ~100 props of it with every part of the magnet tool turned to either 0 or off. would this be a problem and is there a way to remove magnets?
Fucking legendary and worthy pageking.
Sup homes, i just wanted to apologise and whatnot for the completely irrelevant post with the 300 guy and the 4chan and the trawlin n whatnot, i got a little carried away which got me off topic and into trawlin mode. my opinion stands tho :U but right now i am working on a jeep mighty fc concept, i dont ahve any pics atm but give me a week when i get back from colorado and ill have some pics.
and for those who where pulling a fry farnsworth yes... all the nonsense that was unrelated was trollin. kinda hard not to when you guys are on a hare trigger.
Your opinion has been shown to be based upon literally nothing by several people. You also pointed out the placing props by hand being tedious idea. There are many, many contraptions posted before those tools were even though of and they still stand today.
Either keep your opinion to yourself or don't share it on a discussion board where people are going to immediately pick up and comment in it.
And can you please stop using the lingo of a 13 year old steam community furry, my eyes are burning.
That is a lot of props
That much you should see
700 will cause fps drop
700 is an RSO for me.
Visclip can drop speed
It saves props and time
visclip is used by me
This shit's hard to rhyme.
Kibbles take your faggotry
and go elsewhere please
Stop acting like you're three
All posts should now be poems you see.
[editline]30th July 2012[/editline]
also gmod has been recently fpsdropping randomly for me. No idea if it's the magnets or what jackbrody.

quite fascinating because I can make the whole parented body move around in the background, out of my view and still get roughly 60 FPS. I get 60 FPS looking at it while it's static. As soon as it moves, 12-20 FPS. I have no idea and this is fucking annoying because I WANT TO FINISH IT
[editline]edit[/editline]
karb helped me fix it, now moves without lagging!
No idea then, I've had no issues with my stuff in that regard but then again I rarely exceed 150 props. My little tankette was like 60 props, a quarter of which were wire.
My Panther weighs in at about 75 props, I get standard physics lag when using it.
I have been absent a while,
Ever since I went to Hawaii.
I cannot construct in props an isle,
and I've been rather distracted by X3.
So without ideas I come to you,
oh imaginative collection of builders,
to provide me an idea to see through,
such that I may construct unbewildered.

I'm better at making buggy scripts then deleting them and starting again than all of you
Some of you guys might remember an old pageking which I advertised Holopad with. Well it was buggy as crap and I had uni work, so I started again earlier this month and now it's a lot better. Holopad is a 3D studio for holograms and I'm hoping it helps people to optimize contraptions and make fun holo crap really easily. Here's what it looks like right now;

My target audience consists of builders like you guys so once I finish the next beta version would you be interested in links here to help test it? Right now I've got one expert builder on the beta team but I'd love a spread of opinions.
acf doesn't use fuel

also pac except for holograms fuck yeah

Pretty amazing you still get 60fps with 700 props. I get 25fps if I exceed 400...

After Karb helped me out a bit with the strange FPS drops, I get even higher FPS and it's hitting roughly 800 props right now.

check the fraps fps thing in the topright corner.

how did you manage to fix the fps drop?
how did you manage to fix the fps drop?
Was just ticking off 1-2 options in the dupe 2 spawnmenu. The "Disable props physics interaction" in the experimental section was the one that really cut the cake though. Pretty much stopped fps drops when I moved it around.
