Ok, as I said I have the content now and I'm off work, so here you go. It's a knock off of the Rex from Metal Gear Solid I wanted to make a new Mech but had no ideas. Came up with this.

I did a bit of optimizing and I got it down to a fairly respectable 188 props while adding a bit of detail (that's down 10 props from the last WIP build)

I've tried to keep the vehicle to scale with the player.

Things I still need to finish are the tubey exhaust system and the interior, as well as the rear lights and the code to control everything. Other than that, I think it's shaping up quite nicely. Much better than my earlier attempts. Go!
And yes., I'm still working on that turret..
Looks fine. How many props?
And another question, to all. What in your opinion is the best engine for 10 ton truck? I tried 9.2L V12 with 16 gears but I couldn't climb with that anywhere.

From most of the community here, and I'm speaking for a few of us, we generally don't use ACF's engines for crawling or climbing. The throttle response is odd and it's too lagged. I mean don't get me wrong, you can try it, but it won't be as responsive as a applyTorque chip or something. ACF's engines are great for speed and jumping dunes and stuff.
If I had to say though, that engine would probably be the best, you just have to mess with your weight settings.
Changing your gear ratio's might help a little too.
Steeper angles affect penetration ability of rounds, and rounds lose penetrative ability as they pass through props. A shot that penetrates 90mm of armor against 3 plates that have 35mm of armor will stop at the third plate. Composite armoring works for that reason.
I looked at the code, I didn't see any reason why it would stop functioning after the magical number of 6, I believe it just ran out of penetrative power at that point.
Six penetrations or your example has nothing to do with this, try it yourself, 10 plates at 45°, weight each 1 Kg and any caliber AP or APHE(does not explode) shell will be stopped(disappear).
By average it took 3-4 plates to stop, 6 was max.

With low enough gearing anything can climb anything if it has the traction. For crawlers, why don't y'all try limiting the rpm by applyangforce? Artificial resistance?
Also that's a crusader. When finished that looks like it will be...riveting.

Post a vid. I've not had your results. I also can't see how this would matter, I mean what're you gonna do, stick 9000 stacked plates around yourself and wait for people to chew through them?

I think this was 10 props, one just disappeared when shot. I still don't see the error. The only possible explanation would be each plate slowing the round down. I can take a look at the acf code later today, see fi I find anything.

Uploading exactly the same test, only where it did stop the shot, only 390 minutes left, the joy of living in country side.
video should work in 6-7 hours or I'll have to fix it in the morning

160 props, last I checked.
But I have yet to optimize it, but trying for _at least_ under 150
no drama, I'm just a grouchy bastard. I'll take a look at it when its up.
I have committed the uvw change to every prop except for the cylinders and and fittings, which are still giving me
some issues with the edges of materials being clearly visible. I think it was there before too,
but the uvw resolution was so high it wasn't noticeable. The default grid on those will look odd compared to the rest
of the models until I can figure out what to do about the material problem.
You will probably want to delete the garrysmod/spawnicons/sprops folder and settings/spawnlist/sprops_*.txt files before updating.
If you find any bugs/problems, let me know.

Also, people keep asking me why the models in their game don't look the same as the ones in the pictures. The cylinders, tubes and most of the models in misc
use LOD models, this means the further you are from them, the lower quality they become. Apparently, this is also what the
model quality in video options will switch to if you set it to anything other than high. You need to set model quality to high in order to see the real versions
of these models.
I added a full alphabet, with numbers and symbols as well. I think they could be pretty useful, especially paired with the newly fixed hologram scaling (no longer rounds numbers below 1).

I think I will start on some wheels now.

the Jgpz E75 is a work between kyle and I
our work is pretty heavily meshed together in it. The 500cc kart and Jgpz are also my first use of sprops, which are pretty neat.
my 500cc kart, also made with mainly sprops:

Decided that Holopad is finally good enough to release it. It's still in development and definitely not final but I figure it's good enough for people to start using it.

how the fuck does the clipping pane work, i couldn't figure out how to move it. it was just stuck and i couldn't move/remove it
Works just the same as any holo, you select it by clicking its circle and then you move it around with the draggy arrows :v:
(you need to click on the holo that you're clipping before the circle for the clip plane appears, it's one of the ways i'm cutting down on circle spam)
ah. Also, I recommend adding some kind of layer panel, or a list of all your holograms. When you get two holograms inside each other (example: I was making a balkan cross, meaning the two bars intersected) you can't select them properly as the little circles are perfectly lined up.
just an idear
