Mine is really erm,.. original. I saw it in some magazine, a year lateri thought back and thought "Why not visit the website". WHen i went to the website it was the release day of Gmod 10. And it was around 2 days free to download till Valve asked money for it.So i got Gmod for free, but it wasnt steam supported so i bought it with TF2, my best buy ever.
I used to play the really old versions, where you'd hit the buttons to spawn the props on these little spawn pedestals. I didn't own HL2 at the time, I was using my brothers (Or it may have been a friends) so I couldn't keep up with all the versions, but I got HL2 and CSS and saw that garrysmod was in 9.0! Then he released 10 and I bought it ASAP.
I was a LAN gaming store, and I stumbled upon it when I was looking for good games, loved every since.
Saw it in PCGamer years ago, probably back in ~2004 or early 2005 or so.
I was looking at something called bones(?) that enabled you to manipulate models in the GldSrc engine and I found screenshots of GMod
Tried to find counter-strike: source movies on youtube, found Gmod. :smug:
My friend...
When i bought and completed Half-life 2, and had been playing counter-strike: source for a while, i found this thing called "mods" for half-life 2 (google'd for "hl2 mods" and found this: http://hl2mods.co.uk/ ). So, i went ahead and downloaded a few of 'em, including SMOD, i think, and Garry's Mod 8.03b :] Those were the days. I remember being totally hyped when Garry's Mod 9.04 came out, it was a blast! All the features, and the spawn menu had been updated and everything! But when i played Gmod 8.03b, there was this thing after you install it (..or was it 9.04?), that popped a site up which said "YOU NEED COUNTER-STRIKE SOURCE or HALF-LIFE 2 DEATHMATCH TO PLAY GARRY'S MOD". And there were a link to this site i remember, forums.facepunchstudios.com...Either there was a link for garrysmod.org there, or i found it here. The latter is most likely :]
Back when I first got HL2, I just googled "HL2 mods". Gmod 7a was the latest version at the time.
People from CS:S told me. "Gm9 is a good game why not try it"
Saw a youtube video then asked a friend who knows alot about this stuff and he told me and i was facinated
My buddy rebel began playing it 1 day and he hooked me onto it XD
When I first bought HL2 in Grade 8, I searched "Cool Hl2 Mods" on Google. My world was flipped upside down.
ModDB, but I don't remember why I was on ModDB that day. I just remember finding it there and I came here to Facepunch.
I first heard about it when I used to play a differant online game. People used to diss it and say it sucked. I then googled it, saw Idiots of Garry's Mod, and thought it was hillarious. So I bought it in the pack with Team Fortress 2.
I was looking on "how to" videos on youtube, then I came across a video where a guy built a plane, and I asked what game it is. Then I forgot about it, and years later I remembered that video and garry's mod.
I found Garrysmod when I was watching a youtube video about this person who was making giant shit w/ world of warcraft stuff. So in the comments it said "Did you use Gmod for this?" since I was interested in the video I decided to look it up and that my children is how the wraith of minge started!
I found it mainly on YouTube, and thought it looked pretty cool. I was also looking around at sandbox/physics games and Garry's Mod was the most prevalent thing that came up. I have yet to, mostly, regret buying it.
heard about it on youtube but i saw random and stupid videos on it so a year later i got the orange box then a month later i got gmod long wait
Cs:s
Relative.
I was reading an article about Gmod 8 (I think it was in a PC Gamer) and I joined in the night of Gmod 9's release.
I always saw people playing garrysmod and thought it was some sort of HL2 Singleplayer mod with a different storyline of some shit.. then i clicked it one day and viewed the "low-res" trailer through steam and was like "holy fucking shit *jizz* "
My friend wouldn't shut up about it at school. I told him that CSS was better and that I'm gonna buy that instead. He's like, yeah you can just get CSS and GMOD together for an extra 5 bucks. He was apparantly addicted to it. 3 years later, he hasn't played it in 2 and a half years, not interested in it at all, plays CSS all the time. Me, I hardly ever play CSS, and play Gmod all the time :P
Saw my bro playing it back on v8, not long after I started playing it.
Yeah, same for me.
A very good friend of mine told me about it, i started out in Flatgrass using muscle and motor i created this thing out of a Northern Petrol container and clock-wheels, that fucked up flew all over the map, then i started making garbage trucks with the jeep, dumpsters and rope, and a few shitty catapults later, and now im starting to really get the hang of it. =]
When steam introduced GMod 10.
I was watching a rube goldberg garrys mod video on youtube.
I saw a picture where Dr. Kleiner gives birth to a baby
When i saw new releases on mod site
