What's confusing your eyes?
My opinion is any form of documentation shouldn't have pretty writing, it should be simplistic and easy to read.
I like it a lot more now.
Like, I think I still prefer monobook and vector, but the new skin is not that bad anymore.
With the new spacing it's quite easy to use and might at certain points even surpass the old skins. (Like the list of globals, for example. However, most libraries don't look quite right...)
One thing, though... can you make the links have an underline on hover? Makes it easier to click on a specific link.
Java docs:

MSDN:

W3Schools:

All of the documentations of things are easy to read and have a nice navigation bar on the side and then there's the GMod wiki:

I love MSDN. It's fucking easy to get where you want (even though sometimes the stuff you want is hidden behind multiple "folders"). The font is simple and really easy to read. There's no emphasis in beauty and meaningless stuff like that. The current Wiki's color scheme is good. I just hate that font for the titles. That and the lack of a list on the left, like every good developer documentation website should have.

The standardized JavaDoc template is still pretty clustered if you asked me. I wouldn't mind if the GMod wiki was layed out like W3 though. I love that site.
So what we're saying is that this is bad

How about we get the community to design the wiki and we all vote on the aspects.

no we're saying we would like something like this:

and we'd prefer that over having a fancy sleek look. But since you've already put the effort in to create the nice look, you might as well keep it and just add the little sidebar. Please?
3 different opinions there ..
What I think we're saying is that the Garry's Mod wiki lacks any form of navigational functionalities such as navigation sidebars seen on the MSDN website.
And that it needs to be toned down, we're not saying plain unformatted text, we're saying tone it down. Anyone with half a brain cell can tell the difference between a slick easy to use website such as MSDN and the hugely spaced out colourful artistically fonted website that is the Garry's Mod wiki.
Seems like you're complaining over nothing. You have gmodwiki.net now, it's designed exactly how you want it.. just use that if you can't stand huge spaced out fonts and no sidebar.
So, we now have multiple wikis with (almost) the same content, but only with different styles?
What a waste of space and time.. Garry's new wiki style is not my cup of tea either, to be honest, but i don't get the point why garry forces us to use the new style while disabling the option to use the standard wiki design. Its okay if its the default style for users who aren't logged in, if they don't like it, they may just create an account and change the style to whatever they wish (increases the number of users in the wiki btw ;D )

I also don't get why Garry has done this. You went out of your way to make people use your shitty theme. I could understand if you were using ads or something but you removed the theme files as well. Why would you do that? Just seems like a complete dick move IMO.
People who use wiki.garrysmod.com are complaining because they don't like it, if you're goal is to force people to use another website, why have it in the first place?
Then again, you were all familiar with Garry's web tactics: he almost always takes out the default themes of PHP scripts and forces a custom one. You can see it right on these forums (although the sleek Facepunch design is nothing to bitch about). I have a feeling that Garry is trolling everyone just because of the nagging. Facepunch went through a lot of aesthetic changes over the years, so why not the Wiki? Do you guys not remember the 13beta wiki? Only months ago everything was different..

The maurits.tv wiki is still up for anyone who wants to use it :v
I quite like the new design actually. Most of the spacing issues seem to have been sorted out and the colours + fonts are easy on the eyes. All it could do with now is a functional sidebar a-la MSDN.
Perhaps you could transclude the library/class page the function belongs to and restyle it via CSS?
I'm just going to be using gmodwiki.net as it's more user-friendly and has basically the same level of information as the official wiki.
I'm no graphic designer, but you've overused white space, adding clear boundaries to the content is slightly less blinding and confusing.
Also you restricted the content to the rather weird 800px rather than the industry standard 960px for fixed width : http://960.gs/
Making these two changes it's a lot more readable already.

All you need now is a fancy JS floating sidebar for navigation, a nice banner at the top and it's a fairly usable skin.

tbh I thought this whole wiki redesign was really just you wanting us to host and manage it so you could focus on more important things
I could use some advice in terms of layout, I want to get rid of these long as tables but I'm not sure what I should do, split it into 3 sortable tables, or simply do 3 divs in a row?

Don't bother, it's perfect the way it is!
Only thing that annoys me is the lack of the sidebar for navigation, it's all well and good making it look uselessly fancy but please don't mess up its usability.
-snip-
It depends what the CSS did
Garry would you consider modifying the wiki design if we posted some CSS?

.header div ul {
list-style:none;
margin:0;
overflow:hidden;
padding:5px 0 0;
}
new wiki pls
It depends what the CSS did

body {
display:none;
}
Don't give him any more funny ideas, please. We had that already :)
I'm out - the official wiki lacks what I need to navigate it efficiently and it hurts and confuses my eyes after 20 minutes of use. Because of the obvious incongruence behind the official wiki I'm just going to use gmodwiki.net, it already looks better and it has much more potential.
tl;dr : using gmodwiki.net now, nice wan Wizard Of Ass
Okay, let's separate 'Garry's Wiki' and 'Facepunch Wiki'.
http://wiki.garrysmod.com/page/Main_Page
Best of both worlds? No sidebar for the newbs, openable sidebar for the power user? The sidebar remembers its state - so you don't have to open it every time.
(The sidebar isn't populated yet, but you get the idea)
