Which is tomorrow. Just for the lazies.
Oh and you guys probably want this. Finished map from top view.

And later on after this beta test map gets on the server, I will make a community dungeon where all of you guys make your own dungeon rooms and we all put them together to make a epic collab!
I'm liking the map, Eyefunk. The lobby is amazing, of course, but the dungeons are looking pretty :awesome:, too.
And the collab idea is a great idea - in fact, it was one of my original justifications for making InfiniDungeon: to make collaborative mapping less painful and more seamless.
Awesome mod, so far, with an awesome map. I suggest working on a custom entities for monsters to reduce traffic lag caused by real NPCs.

Funny you should say that. It turns out its a lot harder than I thought, though I DID do that already, not to reduce lag (that ended up being a side effect), but to fix leakage between instances.
Also, I tried to update the server from my hotel room, but the internet is so bad that I couldn't even load the cp.
dang cube you can just give me your log in info and the site and ill do it for you instead
I was gonna say add a dock to the beach with a wooden boat anchored there. Make it look like you came along here to conquer the dungeons here.
But it kidna doesn't suit.
I have a suggestion, make it so the door you come through gets marked so you don't accidentally go backwards to the previous room. Also since slow party members tend to get separated and lost, make a clientside laser that leads from the door you entered to the door the leader took. It's hard to explain but these ideas make sense in my head.
Eyefunk: I am currently making some trap-orientated dungeon rooms, if and when I finish the set would you mind adding them to your map? Which leads to a question for Jake, do the current enemies get hurt by trigger_hurts and other damaging entities like that?
Instead of doors for room transition you should use dark corridors. When the player is in the darkest area of the corridor he can't see the next room nor the last one, at this point you teleport the player to the other room.
Here's an exemple.

heh you know what that reminds me of? the forest in the ocarina of time
OOOOOOO someone make a zelda forest like map for this that would be epic
Not a bad idea lemon. You could do that in the collab once I get it started and ready for addons :P
And Yes weapon master. I would love to add them to the map :D

Here's an example.

That's what I did for my map. Sept lighting is a little harder as it can't focus at all on the darkness or it will ruin the effect, but if the player can't see the door they are stuck. Other wise it would work
Update on design.

You can get a forum board dedicated to the gamemode where people can post suggestions and stuff on my website too if you want.
if you want it you can add me on steam and i'll set it up
Sniperlover, ill contact him about it right when he gets on. :D
LIVESTREAM IS OFF

Alright, I feel I should lay the details out.
Right now I am working on patch 2. Patch 2 will contain the following:
1) An updated inventory
(support for different item types, eg. armor, quest, useable, misc, etc.)
2) First Incarnation of Armor
3) Dungeon level 3, possibly 4/5
(This means new npcs, at least ant workers, maybe zombines. And a new boss.)
This patch will hopefully take a week, what with school and such. After the patch there will be data wipes. The data wipes will allow you to experience all the new content, which will in turn buy me time to work on the next patch.
I dont see the point of making gamemode closed .
There are addons for downloading gamemodes from servers , so IT will happen .
its his project so its his choice if you dont like it make your own

No there are not... if there was every single gamemode would be released (GModTower, Sassilization, all kinds of different gamemodes)
The only way possible is having the server download the gamemodes from the client, as far as I can remember.
Pretty sure, as said above, you're just jealous; this gamemode isn't THAT hard to make (well, the random generation and etc. is pretty cool but I mean the main base of going into dungeons without seeing others) so why not make it yourself?
The only thing you can steal is clientside code, which isn't going to do a whole lot.

QFT.
Again, I support making things open source. I feel that every time something isn't released, it breaks the cycle:
You learn from others code when you first start, and then release yours to teach others.
However, there are some things that need to be made closed source, not because of greed, but because the competition it generates would become unhealthy for the product itself.
All a server owner would have to do is change one number, and all exp would be multiplied by 5000. One more line change and everything would drop epics.
Then what happens?
Everyone that can't stand waiting goes and plays the high rate servers, hits end game, and quits.
And yes you read that correctly, I don't have any endgame planned yet. Maybe I would be releasing if the game was designed to be like Global Agenda, where the leveling process is short and the goal is to reach level 30 so that you can engage in balanced pvp.
But I don't have anything. If there were high rate servers, people would just hit level 50, get their epics, and be done.
So, in conclusion, rpg games in general need to be closed source to preserve the health of the game.

We kept UD closed until the end. Though now that I look back at it I regret not making it open source sooner. Yes in theory a server could make a high rate version of the game fairly easily but as soon as the begin to edit the code they will have a harder and harder time keeping up-to-date with the official code, and slowly fall behind until their version is so out of date no one plays it. I also found that players REALLY don't want to start over so if you have a strong player base now its most likely they will stay on the official server.
I understand your concerns as a fellow developer, going open source is a scary thing, but always remember that so long as you keep updating the game and compete with other third party servers your players can't loose and they will love you for that.
Also do not that all you would has to do to stop the open sourcing would be to simply stop updating it, then the competition falls out of date.
What ever you decide I wish you good luck with it.
useful info
Thanks for the input. I always enjoy hearing commentary from fellow developers.
My main issue is that this is still in a vary early stage, which means that data wipes happen disturbingly often.
I will definitely keep what you said in mind however. Thanks again.
I like it closed, I wasn't saying have it open source. (just saying)
I want to play this really fucking bad.
i think it should remain closed source thats just my opinion.
For now, it should remain closed. In the future, when the actual gamemode is done, THEN release it. Releasing a gamemode that is buggy and doesn't work all the time gives it bad reputation right from the get-go. Even if you do improve it people will think that it started out bad.

That is a good point, but wouldn't they think that ,whether you released or not, anyways? People will form opinions no matter what and if they really hold a grudge over a buggy game there is probably an ulterior motive that is unavoidable.
Hey! So, I fixed up the problem the HUD was having, and sent the files over to Jake! If everything goes according to plan, the HUD will be set up and working on his server!
