So. Jake and I are in disagreement, and need YOUR help about the skills (spells) system!
My idea is to have people get a random skill every __ levels.
His idea is to use a skill tree.
What do you guys think!
Skill Tree would be the best way i think that way the person can put a point into what skill he wants etc.

to the above post DON'T POST CRAP LIKE THAT HERE also i vote skill tree i hate random skills i mean you could get a skill like summon a tree for all we know and that tree only does a freaking dance id rather choose than possibly get something that's completely useless

Yes, random skills.
I'd like to see you stick to the traditional diablo 2 skill tree form.
Random skills would be less about strategy, but more about how long you can go through a dungeon over and over again. For random skills, I'd like to see some powerful skills that can be learned through "Tomes" and are randomly dropped through out l3-l5 dungeons.
FYI, the random skills system wouldn't just give you random skills, but it would possibly show 3 possible skills on level up and you get to choose 1.

FYI It wouldn't be so stupid like summon a tree. It would be more like the current weapon system. There would be a few base types (modification skills, attack skills, defense skills) and then there would be modifiers (poison, fire, ice, breaking, killing, so on and so forth)
That actually sounds pretty cool. I wouldn't mind that.
I like the idea of a skill tree. Allows the character to have more control over their character overall.

i have an idea,
Maybe get a custom modeler like NeoDement on this and have him make modles and animations for custom weapons,armors,and monsters.
and maybe have out door adventure areas like woods,deserts,and jungles possibly spanning different servers.
id also love an encounter with [B][I]Blood Raven[/I][/B] and a quest to follow it and possibly be the boss required to go to the outdoor areas.

Thats strange about your button thing. You mean in the F1 menu?
Also, outdoor areas will be added when Cube makes the SENTS be able to move across irregular terrain.

We dont want to use custom models because downloading is a pain. Also, notice how you connect nice and fast? Thats from not having many custom stuff.
I think that instead of custom models, a lack of variety in enemies could be solved the same way you added variety to weapons.
Various props and models stuck together in creative ways. I worked on The Darklands([URL="http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=953764"]http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=953764[/URL]) and one of the biggest things was the custom content, without the custom models.
Hl2, CSS, hl2:ep2 etc. have a huge variety of gibs and props that make great armor if put together, old rusty pipes and other things stuck together to make weapons.
Along with custom animations using some of the released editors, you could transform the hl2 NPCs into thousands of different enemies.
Headcrabs and antlions are also a great base for non-bipedal monsters.
Try to combine hatmaker + Giablo or ask papperdoll from The Maw.

That was an error when I sold an Awesome AR2
People are saying that their weapons from their inventories, are disappearing when they die or swap weapons.
Mobs are getting stuck in the roof or walls they say.
Gameplay wise: Headcrabs to hard to hit when out of ammo, ammo should be able to be bought and in 3 levels I went from 1 damage to 10-20 damage with Poison, as a chemist.(Only did level one dungeon)
The map is pretty awesome Eyefunk.
Needs a little more lighting in some dungeons. The Night vision doesn't help to much in pitch black.
Otherwise was pretty fun making sprays and people in other dungeons(But same room if you get what I mean) reply to the spray by spraying theirs. :buddy:

I've still probably got the Darklands editor somewhere on my computer. Darkspider has disappeared from the internet so I doubt it's an issue if I let you guys use it.
Nevermind, just found the editor in the public version when Darkspider quit. You can find the files in the thread if you want.
Some info:
1) School has surprised me. That's why development has slowed down.
2) My PC bombed and I had to reformat. Nothing was lost, but I have to reinstall gmod, ep2, etc.
3) My current priorities:
a)fix the poison bug
b)examine/fix a bug with bosses (something about not being able to reach them?)
c)fix the character order bug

1) In the map the dungeon entrance, func_dustcloud is an expensive thing to run in maps (Well on my low end computer I get a major drop in FPS)
