I like to think I'm fairly decent with Maya, maybe not as far as player models (I've never actually tried one before, but I'd be willing to give it a shot), but with weapons and similar stuff I can hold my own. And, of course, I do it for fun.
Well look in the screenshot i just added to the OP, you think you could make things like that, with just citizen heads and with NPC animations. And I'd need rifles with view models, and confederate/union swords, and big flags I suppose. But player models are priority.
I'd like to help, I guess as a learning experience but I can help I'm not at the phase of "HURR HOW DO MAKE DURMA BOOTON", but if you take up this project I'd be more then happy to help :buddy:.
Well I'm quite capable of making the gamemode myself, but there is a few things I'd be willing to let other people do, or help with.

Full steam ahead!
I'd like to help more then a particle effect :s, I'd wanna be apart of the full project basically, :v.
Just started hexing models btw :3, got a winchester done.
Another edit, if anyone finds any weapons made before the civil war pm me and I'll hex 'em :D
ranks and such will be determined ICly. Rank won't be based ICly, and neither will signing up for shit. We support actually roleplaying your way into things.
Your idea of "roleplaying" into things is that it's done NOT IC? What?

Yeah sorry I wrote that late at night, I meant it's all IC.
If you can make horses, I'll sign up as Horse Cavalry, fuck I'll sign up as a hot air ballon observer even.
I had no idea, actually. That's pretty impressive for the time.
Yeah they had technology going pretty smoothly at the time. I'm suprised they didn't improve on lever action at the time.

Really good write up of historical weapons
Not to mention the Civil War was a huge ass testing ground for landmines(called torpedos back then) they mainly looked like naval mines, but were small and made for land purposes.

We'll see if we can enlist the help of a certain entity maker.
So would you guys want this to be on like an already made gamemode like tiramisu or tacoscript, or we make our own?

A custom one would be nice.
Custom,also... If possible we should find a really nice concept for cannons, and possible entrenchment work.
Alright, canons are good, trenches would have to be done above ground, like little mounds of dirt maybe.
Thats probably a good idea! If you want any concept I would look into Project Reality/WW2 Online. Both have entrenchment systems, but their very minor, and both above ground, and the mounds shouldn't be any higher then chest height.
Its official that this is being put into production, if you haven't guessed. ETA is to be announced, seeing as though we need to get the models done, possibly a map chosen / made, etc.
I want to be the super duper leader of the Union
Also... Historical accuracy deems that the Confederates get the badass Bowie Knife.
I can do a lot of that shit, infact from an old gamemode I made entrenchments and mortars that shot explosives out :buddy:

On it ;)
On it ;)
Is there a v_model for that that you can use? Or will you find/make one to use.
Haven't the slightest clue how to make it into a working, in-game weapon, but...

Render settings are shoddy, but workable.
Looks nice, did you use a reference picture?(If so, can you post it? Maybe we can give some suggestions if it needs more improvement)
Yep, just this one, tweaked it a bit;

Also, I noticed it looks really long in that picture. It's not.

And people say canon restricts roleplay...
And people say canon restricts roleplay...
?
And people say canon restricts roleplay...
Yeah, but it was a favored knife by both sides, but produced mainly in the Confederacy.
Eh. I had fun modeling it. If anyone has any experience converting the meshes into a useable weapon, or otherwise just model, in game, that'd be great.
The map will have to be very, very large.
Have woods and open fields and rivers.
Gives places for battle/setting up camp and such.
Honestly the whole entrenchment thing didn't really happen until the Union Siege of the Confederate Capital. And when you look at pictures of how it was set up you'd be reminded of World War 1. Also to note, the Confederates were the first to use Submarines in Naval Warfare (CSS Hunley.)
