How does the ship system work at the moment?
I am a little curious to see what it is. What I never liked about Sunrise, is that all the ships were availible and so long as you have the money you can buy any of them. Unfortunately that lead to the predestined path of a certain amount of ships that meant everyone practically had the same ship, doing the same thing, over and over again. A majority of the ships in game were never used.
I always tried to suggest the tech tree route. Where you buy one ship (starting with 0 skill lvls) and you build the ships skills, which in turn will lead to a specific brach, whether it be a fast/medium/slow, heavy/medium/light, or attack/balanced/miner ship. Given, also being able to buy stat-padded ships that already have certain skill levels to avoid the grinding.
Tired of being being a miner? Dock the ship and take out the fighter, etc.

What has kind of been added is a mixture of what the ships do, and they don't follow a certain path which means a 400k ship, could have a high energy, high weapon slot, low shields, a DPS (Damage per second) ship, but another ship at say 370k could have high shields, low damage, effectively a tank.
Ahm ....can i beta-tester ? this is my wildest dreams comming true ...
this looks awsome ( except for the Star-Trek looking screens its kinda ..OLD-Sience...add me on steam , kennis942
Well the server was open for all not so long ago, we just closed it down for an update and due to the fact that no one had acknowledged it's existence at the time, so you will have to wait. Also, the Dev server only lets Killers2, Portalcake and Dustpup in, so even I have to wait.
then ill hax steam and spoof my STEAM id to one of those...I MUST GET IN NUW!

Lol, patience when we have enough models and code done we will let you all come and play. :)
Wow, that looks amazing. I would love to be a personal slave (aka tester) for you guys. I have past experience in alpha/beta testing add me on steam if you want apocalypsefu - i know how to root out the bugs and make decent bug reports =D

While we would have appreciated testers, the devs are our testers, and the players will report what little bugs there are when the server opens up.
Killers and Portalcake like to polish the gamemode (or update in this case) to perfection before opening up the server.
I would assume the spelling mistake is intentional?

Indeed it is.
Model update:
Thank you guys!
Here's the wrecked model.
Maybe It's not detailed that much as expected. But consider you are going to see this model for short time and it should not make the server or GFX card lag ;)
Ok, here's the prototype of the Space Turret with animation and lights turning on and off when activating.
ON and OFF skins

This is the animation of opening :)

PS: The final texture will be a lot smaller because the current one you see there is 1024x1024.
I love Phoenix Storms.
This looks very promising ^^
Visually, it looks very nice; maybe a touching up on some of the effects. They look very repetitive and I dislike repetitive effects. I am imagining you are scaling things down to a microscopic size, and at that size particles can only be 1 or two sizes (since there's no decimals in particle size), just consider some variations in the explosions and such.
My opinion on the gameplay; Where's the originality? I don't see one fresh idea that hasn't been taken from Eve Online or Freelancer. I don't intend to sound rude and snide as if I were discrediting you and your fellow developers for all of their hard work. However, What sets this apart? I am an Eve Online player as well as an avid Freelancer player and Modder. What will make me want to play this instead of click the shortcut on my desktop that opens Eve-Online?
Originality is all I'm looking for. Aesthetically, it looks very nice. Yet how is skill factored into it? It appears to me as if you simply lock your enemy and let fly with everything you got, simply managing your energy until one of you blows up in a generic blue explosion. How is skill factored in?
Like I said, no harm is intended, however I have some serious questions about the gamemode. Not trying to discredit you for your hard work, just trying to point things out so that, hopefully, they can be taken into account and changes can be made to make your mod better.
what happened to that UniverseRP LG was working on? Is this supposed to replace it?
Um, it's just renamed.
what happened to that UniverseRP LG was working on? Is this supposed to replace it?
Merge of URP and Devinity code created the current Devinity.
Merge of URP and Devinity code created the current Devinity.
Devinty = URP with models, materials and some effects from Devinity however most of the effects have been edited.
Also in the future ill try and post some things to show none repetitive things you can do.
Anyway at the moment it is important to get the basic gameplay right, adding in all the extra features later.
I like this gamemode, are you planning on adding some planets?
Depends, but I could see it being very had to implement. If we did it would have to be a similar system to the station.
Yeah, that's a cool idea.
Just an FYI, B-hazard isn't a developer.
I'm not claiming I am :v:
I have to say the HUD looks nearly exactly the same as Sunrise.
:v:
That's because we made it ages ago. It was originally made for Pirate Ship Wars: Enhanced and later ported to Sunrise A New Era.

No you never.
No you never.
So your saying the creators of the original Sunrise: A new era, of which Sunrise: outer edge is based upon a leaked copy of, did not make the HUD?
The Hull, shield and energy bars are ported from PSW:E I believe.
The rest of the HUD is about the same yeah.
But it's optimized allot more.
at least the models look cool...
