Whoops. Delayed again till (at earliest) December. Sorry to the 3 people I fantasize are waiting for this.
NewAdmin isn't currently supported by Overv, so I don't know if you're wasting time with that one or not.
It's not supported but people still use it (oddly enough).
Ok, if you need any sort of host, I have a dedicated windows server you can use. Also, what is delaying you? I would LOVE to have this addon :D
He's a busy person. It's actually up and running, but unfinished at this point in time.
You can put a mySQL database onto bans, as somone I know has shown.
You can put a mySQL database onto bans, as somone I know has shown.
Other way around. Bans on mysql databases.
Dedicated server almost up, so wow, I might of actually given an accurate ETA for once.
WOO!!!! I really want this addon :D It seems so awesome :D Would it be at all possible to host the entire package on one of my servers?
Only if one of your servers was dedicated and happened to have IIS7 and an appropriate database server installed. Really, there's no advantage to hosting it yourself.
Only if one of your servers was dedicated and happened to have IIS7 and an appropriate database server installed. Really, there's no advantage to hosting it yourself.
I can think of a few, ranging from reliability to security.
Yes, I have all of that :3. I just like to be in control of the software I use :P
What the fuck is the point? Seriously, if it only applies to your own server(s) why not just ban them from one, hop onto the other and ban them from there? If it was global, it would be fucking stupid, just because.
I would definitely hate that system. cpf probably never encountered stupid admins that ban you for no reason?

If it was global, it would be fucking stupid, just because.
Because it means you need to hop to each one to ban them specifically, whereas with this they can just be banned from all servers with one each command. Sounds like someone is scared of being banned from servers.
I would definitely hate that system. cpf probably never encountered stupid admins that ban you for no reason?
It's only from your set of servers, not all servers that run this system.
Suggestion: A Filter by Reason, For Example if Someone was banned for reason: "LOLOLOLOL" then they'd be allowed join, as it's obviously an unfair Ban by some Adminge, but if the Reason was something like "Spam" Then thats a valid Reason, and they would be Blocked.
the problem i have is that a global (multi server, multi community) would be better than one that just bans across a couple servers. how many people run more than 1 gmod server anyway? this would be better if it was more like sourcebans in that you could post proof of breaking a rule. if i were designing this, i'd have it work like this: 1. i sign up with this global ban service. i'm running 2 darkrp servers so i subscribe to bans that are based on rules like prop blocking, aim bots, etc. 2. i find someone blatantly prop blocking, i run a command which bans them within my own servers (if im running multiple servers that subscribe to the prop block ban rule). 3. the ban is submitted to the global ban system but it is in a hold queue because it is awaiting proof. 4. i upload the proof, and it goes in the review queue. 5. 3 other admins approve the ban 6. the ban takes effect on all servers which subscribe to the prop block ban rule. 7. if the ban is NOT approved, the submitter is rated and if they have too many that are not approved, they are no longer able to submit bans.
... That is one of the only reasons I don't want to use sourcebans is because it basically just disallows you from joining the server with a reason saying "HEY YOU MIGHT WANT TO PLAY BUT YOU HAVE TO GO TO OUR SOUCEBANS PAGE AND NAVIGATE THROUGH 100's OF BANS TO FIND YOURS AND HOW LONG IT WAS". ...
wrong, sourcebans has a search feature on the main page. if the user cant use a feature like search, they probably deserved the ban.
^its called steambans Before this gets completely offtopic I'll reiterate: This is a system for server owners to manage bans for their server(s) online, and to configure bans to apply across all of their servers without knowing lua/SQL/php/etc or spending time building their own system. Nothing else. It is NOT and never will be a global banning system where bans are reviewed, categorized, filtered, or anything like that.
I'd greatly appreciate having your PHP code to use.
It's written in ASP. Hence the need for a windows server. :downs:
Pulsareffect runs this system. Derp >3
Pulsareffect runs this system. Derp >3
I do not believe PE runs this system due to one little fact. IT ISN'T DONE!!! PE runs their own custom script, within a modidied version of assmod to store the bans in an SQL database, then uses a simple PHP script to display them.

I mean not exact the same but similar to it.
It's still similar to what they run. I mean not exact the same but similar to it.
In the sense that it is a global ban system, yes. However, if I have read correctly, this is just another addon that complements existing ban systems, by intercepting commands, and writing the bans to a database. PE's ban system uses a heavily modified version of assmod to pull users from an SQL database, and it stores bans differently. Many communities have global ban systems just like PE's, but this addon will make it so that everyone can have global bans...not just large communities with hard core coders.
See above. As for the release, I just haven't quite got around to finishing setting it up on the production platform, so in the next week or 2.
I like it in general. Best of luck. I'll tell you one thing, I'm going to use it.
Another minor update: QC checks almost done, so sooner than expected.
:) <3 you cpf
