Love what you've done to the script. Nice improvements.
I'm going to go off topic a bit, but HGN's website design is terrible. My eyes hurt after watching it for more than 20 seconds. This server needs a better map and an easier to use interface. I tend to favor visual interfaces rather than a command driven gamemode, which quite a lot of new people would agree.

The website design is fine, with the exemption being the from page, which is still under development. The forums, on the other hand, have what I feel is a dark, comfortable feeling. As for the commands, what wrong with having to learn 3 commands; rp_toggleholster, rp_setfrequency, and rp_changename ?
Silver is getting me do make guns now. Videos on them http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5RrHqNo7Bg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p04unXReIUc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytNTTmLhGYg
I've been trying to get playing for the past hour. I'm missing the textures (and models, for a few) for the player models. I've downloaded all the packs linked to on the downloads thread and installed it all correctly, still no luck. Is this a common/known problem or have I missed something obvious?
Really want to get playing, it looks like an incredible script and I'd love to see the map in action properly without running into checkerboard people. Any help?
Unpacking content is a little finicky for some people, sometimes there are a few files that don't come out. In which case, unpack the content to a new folder on your desktop, and then unpack it again and let anything overwrite. You can then move the content to your garrysmod directory. I am one of the very few who needs to put the content into an addons folder for some animations to work correctly, so if you experience any problems, try making addons folder for the content.

So I don't spam the thread.
Small Update Yesterday: +PDA Item + Electro Anom + Whirlgig anom + Electro + Whirlwind generate artifacts overtime +Broadcast and PM now require a PDA to recieve/use those commands. +New Bloodsucker Animations =Fixed a few minor bugs
This looks awesome....maybe something to think about would be making this into a full Sourcemod.. with the amount of detail and effort you guys have put in.. removing the restrictions of having to work within Gmod would make this into an unbelieveable mod. Also... all the needed files are hosted on Megaupload.. which will only let me download so much in one go without paying monthly.. It's kind of annoying to have to wait 2 or 3 days to download the files bit by bit.

Turning it into a sourcemod would be hard, because as far as I know, we would still need the garrysmod base code.

We are currently looking into Natural Selection 2's engine, as that holds great promise for a better and more efficent engine.
You cant even code. (User was banned for this post ("Why reply" - Nori))
You cant even code.
Which reject are you? (User was banned for this post ("Roleplay drama" - Nori))
Which reject are you?
Now this isn't a troll post but: Why when someone says something about this gamemode which you don't like are they considered trolls or rejects? Is it possible that they are neither and they might actually be telling the truth? Every bad post I've read in this thread has you calling them a troll or a reject from the community. Is your gamemode really flawless that there is not a single thing wrong with it or the admin team? I'm not saying anything bad about the gamemode/community in this post, I'm just stating that it appears you and your community believe you are the beez kneez of gmod and everything you do is top shit.
Well most of the people who think that silver can't script are butthurt kiddies that got banned for being powerhungry, or stupid. Of course there are flaws with the script, as with any script, but saying that Silver can't script is really retarded.
I'm not saying anything bad about the gamemode/community in this post, I'm just stating that it appears you and your community believe you are the beez kneez of gmod and everything you do is top shit.
We don't think we're the best, but we try our best. If someone were to say "Well I think that (x) feature could use more of (y) and less of (z), because of (v) reasons... etc" in a constructive way, like most do on our forums, we will listen to them. When someone goes and says "u suck teh cock" most of the time they are someone who is pissed off or bored.
Where can I find the map that the server is currently using? Someone said it was in content pack 2 but I exceeded the download limit for megaupload and it's gonna be a while before I can download from there again.
We have wiped the server oh.. twice this year? If you lose your items, does it really matter a great deal in a roleplay server?
yeah, when the only way to make money is a "job" and you cant have a "job" or rp a "job" in this kind of rp, seeing a the "jobs' require a gun. its too biased the server, you start out with bread and a few penny's, the only way to get a paycheck is too apply on their forum, or donate, its almost like you want to nickle and dim us, its almost discouraging when you say "get a job" ok i get a job, my job is to defend a base, HOW THE FUCK DO YOU DEFEND A BASE WITH A PIECE OF BREAD? you start the player out in a world that barley has any means to get anything. Sum it up, if you like wandering around looking for money, guns, HELL looking for some kind of rp, your looking for something that doesn't exist or something that would require your time and money LITERALLY they want you to donate 20 dollars so you can get a "flag". if you though TNB was annoying as shit to RP in, then this is alot more annoying then TNB is. Seeing they ask for your money (real life money, so your enable to actually start rolelaying) Also, WHAT THE FUCKS up with the fact that the map, the content packs are all on their forum, where you have to register, I mean its like they are just nick-ling and dimming you, forcing you to register or pay to begin any sort of roleplay. All and all, good idea, poor execution. [editline]10:34PM[/editline] Theres a difference from good role play, where you work for your things, and to where you make it obsessively annoying and hard to get anywhere.
I agree with scoutking in some places, but overall i have had a great time on the server. Sure some irritating times, but nothing to rage about. Yes we do start of with too little cash, some more would be better. But in this game its not all about buying guns, i have not shot one fire in my whole time on the server, not once. And the rp is great, theres alot of creative, inspiring and polite people who create fun and immersive jobs and storys. And i have had plenty of missions without going on the forum. Its lacking content for starters, but still a great gamemode. It will improve, i think they need to think more about the beginners rather than the veterans. Will you do that?

[editline]10:34PM[/editline] Theres a difference from good role play, where you work for your things, and to where you make it obsessively annoying and hard to get anywhere.
You can do loads of RP without weapons. Passive around a campfire, missions, artifact hunting. You can team up with veteran stalkers, and live under their wing while you work your way up the ladder of success. Most missions aren't "Guard this base for 5 hours with this pistol", they are mostly comprised of collection, extortion, and deliveries. Also, with one artifact, selling at an average of 6000 Rubles (The currency) you can buy a AK-74M, and several boxes of ammo. You cannot say that is it impossible for new players, it just makes it so that they get to experience roleplay before they get into the business of assassination missions, and defense missions. The reason that we have flags that you need to donate for, is because we need money to keep the dedicated server up. It isn't free, unfortunately. No one HAS to pay to play on our server, in fact, most of our 500+ registered player base has not donated. You get good perks with donating, and you get to help keep the server up, which is the main purpose of it. We're not "Nickle and Dimming" you, considering there is not charge the register, and the reason that registering is needed to view the content, is because there are guides to roleplay, faction applications, IC stories, and many other things for you to view. You can also apply for tooltrust on the forums, which most people agree is helpful for roleplay. There are many new people that have not registered or paid and have had a great time on our server. If you do not like it, then I am truly sorry, because you are missing a great experience. Good day :) As well
I agree with scoutking in some places, but overall i have had a great time on the server. Sure some irritating times, but nothing to rage about. We'll see to it that we find some way of making it easier for new players to start off, thanks for the input.

[editline]10:34PM[/editline] Theres a difference from good role play, where you work for your things, and to where you make it obsessively annoying and hard to get anywhere.
That's one of the most magnificent false impressions I have seen in a while. You either donate to help pay for the server, or you donate to get a mutant flag. Every other flag just requires an application and some evidence to show you're a decent roleplayer, we are not attempting to get money from you. The more players there are on the server, the more the economy grows. It is quite possible to make money, the first week of playing is a struggle, I will admit, but it filters out the people that are there to purely not take the game seriously. We are willing to lose a few players who get bored and leave. And the people who stay play much better than they would if a gun, 1000RU, and a ton of other shit was put in their hands at spawn, because they tend to be much more careful with the things that they actually earn. I'm sorry if you don't like this, it's not our problem. As far as registering with the forums go, we want to see players dedication, and taking the time to register and use the forums is the first step in seeing that. All in all, SRP is not a pick-up-and-play gamemode, we want dedicated players.
Well, No one likes to give their life away for a game, and the few people who do is sad. I was expecting some fun roleplay, not TNB. If people wanted this kind of roleplay you play tnb, nothing new is at the table. But you have to realize, no ones going to play if you require people to register, and the size of the map, ive walked around for a hour and only seen 2 people, so its hard to roleplay with what is given.
I am the maker of the map, I seldom play SRP, and I can still do pretty well with the time I have. It's ridiculously simple, register on the forums so you can acquire the content. It's not just for that, things change rapidly because SRP is a constant work in development, so the forums are there for you to stay updated with what is going on or to answer any questions that might arise. Registering is simple and a necessary part of playing SRP. We had 40 people on the server Monday, don't give me that "nobody will play if..." garbage. We are not like TnB and you don't need to throw your life away to play SRP. This is not our problem, this is yours. Go play some high-rate action game if you can't handle to take 30 minutes out of your lifetime to register, DL the content, and get updated with what's going on in the main SRP forum. One reason I failed to mention of why we have a much more sophisticated system here is because of security. Roleplay servers that you can just connect-and-play are highly more venerable to people wreaking havoc on. And that's something we don't tolerate. If you don't like this, I'm sorry, because things will not change. Im not trying to sound harsh, but the HGN clan is not mature... In game, and out of game.... Out of game can be a example here, from what Averice said, you guys flame people who disagree. Ingame is a personal experience, I was hanging around freedom base, and the military did a raid, no one died but 1 freedomer, I looted the body like every person would do, he dropped a PDA i took it, and walked away. He flames me on OOC, I then go back to the freedom base and try to give it back to him (in a roleplaying manner), he flames me, calls me a noob, all the other HGN members join in. Your clan members are A:to strick need to learn to relax. B:assholes/immature. its a great map, a top notch script, i will agree, but i servilely dislike the community, and forums. Add a payday for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.S or make it easier to get some money, you say go find a artifact, i wondered them a for hours, went through every nook and Grammy looking for things, nothing. I mean in stalker you go out and find some things, maybe make it more... stalkerish, because right now its like you took 100 people, divided them into groups, gave them little guns, little ammo, and very few means to get money and said "roleplay" Again not much to work with in my opinion, the roleplay is all dictated by the "/me" function. I know darkRP is addicted to roleplaying with guns, but you shouldn't be addicted to the "/me" function Either

And to ScoutKing, You did mention that you wouldn't spend thirty minutes registering for a content pack, but here you are returning a day later to complain in this thread again instead of giving the server a try. If you like it feel free to stay, but if you don't please don't try to spoil it for others by bringing their hopes down.
I was playing for a good few hours and simply couldn't get involved in the roleplay. Your older members (or at least the majority of those playing at the time) were very elitist, shunning my attempts to approach them. I, a possible new member of the community come into the server expecting to have fun and join in instead ended up feeling isolated and bored. I could not ask simple OOC questions without being flamed for not knowing the answer. It's a shame really, I had such high hopes for your script but it's ruined by the severe lack of support for new players and the community's attitude to helping them fit in and have fun.

Imaturity isn't something we tolerate in the roleplay and i think we pull off STALKER pretty dam well. By the looks of your "experience" you either got involved with a event when you wern't supposed to, or the person you looted it from wasn't too mature. Those kinds of players who do things like that often find themselves banned. Also i want to point out that HGN is a Network, not a clan, we have various servers for many different games, including battlegrounds 2, Day of Defeat, Ragnarok private server etc.
I was playing for a good few hours and simply couldn't get involved in the roleplay. All of this information can be read on the forums. There is somewhat abit of "Elitism" but to the extent, where if you go up to a Dutier, and start following him around, he's going to tell you to fuck off, because in Stalker, you would get your head blown off for that kinda crap. Stalker is a very violent, harsh and brutal world, most people are too focused on the whole "DarkRP/TnB" friendlyness, but this is the zone, every faction is focused on it's on roles and tasks. Alot of the new people consider Military as "friendly" when actually, they are the opposite, so please read up on the information provided on the forums. If you have never played Stalker before, it's probably a better idea to go play the game before getting involved with the roleplay, to get a background of how things work. For all new players, it's harsh coming into the server, limited money, no real power or authority, but that's the zone for you, you have to work your way up, either join a faction/group, or advance up and build your own path, it's not easy being a loner, but you might get a lucky break by doing missions from traders, finding artifacts, or perhaps cutting off a Bloodsuckers Tenticles.
Well, Got some complaints for this server from my side. When I first saw this, I thought it was awesome, I loved STALKER and figured this would be like STALKER co op but with with a few differences and such, Anyway, First day I'm on its pretty cool, Was on for about 2 hours and such. I get on today and people are annoying as hell saying im trolling and being a minge. When I asked a trader if he had work, He comes at me with a knife and starts calling me a minge and troll along with a few other people, What the fuck happened? I get banned from the forums for doing nothing, I had joined to download the stuff and had not even posted anything yet, I go on today to go ask a question and it says im banned from using the forums. In the end, Good gamemode, Nonsensical people.
I'd like to remind everyone this a promotional thread not a complaint's thread.
If you're going to promote your community, you damn well be ready to take some criticism. So long as the criticisers have a good argument, it's allowed and even encouraged.
