Actually I've been noticing 5%cpu/500mb ram usage with around 40-50 players since moving to linux and going on a MAJOR resource reduction warpath.

No, he just hasn't configured TC-Admin to read per core. That's the total CPU usage for the entire node combined.

I don't really have a worst, I left my GSP's because I couldn't be bothered anymore.
But I must say, the best GSP would have to be DeamonServersUK. They are fantastic. I owned a HL2RP server that got DDoSed constantly, and I didn't want to be a pain in the arse to these people so I just scrapped the server completely.
NFOServers and Elpis are by far the best GSP's I've hosted a server with.
Elpis host would be my recommendation. I know Tyler (Darksoul) on a slightly more personal level having known him for a number of years now, but if Elpis wasn't any good I wouldn't rent my dedis through him. He has superior support and to my understanding runs most of his nodes at the same datacenter as I, which is superb. On top of all that he's a really genuine and nice guy, you don't often get treated like that when you buy/rent servers, so it's a nice touch.
Worst: EweHost, obviously and by far.
Best: Well, depends on your price. GSPs, Elpis. Server general, a VPS/Dedicated on a bigger company like HostGator.
Worst: Nitrous-networks, good support, crappy servers . I ordered a 30 day 10 slot GMOD server as a so to say test server. It was down for the 2nd half of the month. I contacted them their excuse was that they had technical difficulties.........

What if he's just using a fake players plugin and in reality has no players at all. The 66 bytes/s can be server queries or something. :v:

I did a little asking around, apperntly NN (used to host with them, swaped to elpis) actually make sure your server is down and blame it on ddos'ing. As my server i was sure of wasn't being ddos'd every day at least twice, so they kept shutting down my server, but hey once i swapped host (same name jist a dif server ip) the server NEVER crashes, highly recommend elpis, great support, very stable, im considering getting a second server with them, the CP is easy to use, definatly by far the best host i have used.

If you go with unmanaged, I would personally recommend either NFOServers (Good support but expensive imo) or Limetonenetworks (Cheap a bit, pretty good servers)
Has anyone used INX-Gaming recently? We tried getting a 16 slot Killing Floor server, which took two days to actually get set up, in the middle of the week, and was extremely slow at ticket responses.
It also wasn't actually configured for 16 slots.

Well considering the server was only 1 week old, and we had just set it up, and still was i assumed after it was all in place, we could set a backup of everything.. but nope

That's the srcds daemon crashing, the odds of that being Vilayers fault directly is pretty slim to be honest, the contents of those crash dumps would need to actually be inspected to see the source of the crashes.
Sometimes... I dream of a world where everyone's internet is so good that we don't (For the most part) even need server hosts...

Where can I go to inspect these crashes then? ;P
I was actually with Vilayer for about 2 years and my server was rarely down and if you go into the teamspeak, they can instantly help you. The server was never laggy, I stress tested it and it took alot to take it down.

At the moment the best place is dumps.metastruct.uk.to as dumps.garrysmod.com has been dead for a good while now, however unless you know what you're sifting for the metastruct dump won't give much info.
Alternatively if you email Garry and ask very nicely, he might parse a few of the dumps for you and tell you where the crashes are occurring.
