PLAYIN' RUNESCAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPE!
It looks nothing like runescape, but just a few questions :
1) Will there be NPC's to fight,like headcrabs or zombies,custom SNPCs,etc?
2) Will there be PvP?
3) Will there be a option for third-person?
4) Will there be a level cap?
5) (if the answer to 1 was 'Yes') Will there be bosses, like a giant headcrab,or a normal headcrab with something to make it look different than the others?
6) Will you implement a system for a clan to group up,I.E 'Midage Testers'
7) Will you implement a grouping system to allow a group of 2-4 players to join a group to take down tough bosses that would be near impossible to solo? (only if the answer to five was 'Yes')

Few? :P
1 - Yes, check out the video about the snpc test at ModDB profile
2 - Yes (first post. Feature nº 3)
3 - That is still open for discussion between team members
4 - We still didn't discuss that yet
5 - We will have 4-5 players dungeons, this also answer 7. Check out our dungeon sketch at ModDB profile
6 - Guilds? Yes
7 - Answered in 5
Thanks for asking those :D. I'll add them to the FAQ.
Alpha-Beta tester,idea fag at your service :)
We just created a steam group for Midage : Gmod, join now :D

Is this is a Garry's Mod gamemode, why is it on ModDb?
Is this is a Garry's Mod gamemode, why is it on ModDb?
ModDB has Garry's Mod 10 mods category and it provides a better online interface for large modes. Also attracts people that don't play Gmod :V

Touché.
I didnt know you are still alive jpiolho :D. Anyways, good luck on it.
This mod is actually being developed really fast, I'm surprised at how much we have done in just a few days. :D
I'm excited for the release, it's only in like a "pre-alpha" and it's kind of addicting xD.

Heya, a new development video is avaliable.
This one does a sum up of the previous features we showed and the new ones included.
We needed a bigger testmap (and something slighty better when doing videos :p) so it's this one you'll see for now. The map itself is very simple, since the mappers are working on their real maps (aralands & Mt. Araliel) we didn't want to spend too much time designing this one.
We are aware of the mountain texture bug (rendering over others textures), it has been fixed after we noticed it in the video.
The menu texture is temporary.
Jpiolho did us a little surprise at the end, the rest of the team wasn't aware of the existence of this... surprise. ^^
Have fun !
Lookin' good!
Not being mean, but I lol'd epically when I heard the voice :D
Nice idea with the tree thing, but it looks kinda fugly, and only shit pcs lag on souce with trees ;)
Ok how does this happen there is a New Age, Mid Age, and also Old age how the hell does that happen its like you guys like the same variations of names

I agree the sprite isn't the best one ever, however it does the trick. Me and JP does not have lag with the trees, that why our tree render distance is set to 4096 unit. But this technique, as you said, allows shit pcs to run midage without having 4fps constantly. And trust me, there's still a lot of shitty pcs out there :)

Give the player the option ;)
Being able to set the distance isn't an option ? just put 999999 and it's done.
About options, you'll be able to activate / deactivate music and ambient, or one of the two if you like birds.
I must say that I'm impressed, only few gamemodes out there care about FPS rate even though it IS crucial.
10/10 for the sprite idea.
Also, remove collision and physics from items, this way it'll put less stress on the server and also remove the damage when falling bug.

We'll take out the falling damage, though (disabled for our tests) every midage (ma_) item that you drop from your inventory or let around (ie : a woodstack, an ore) dissapears after 5 minute if I remember.
physics are disabled for every non-inventory item (trees, anvil, smelter, veins, bridge, campfire, etc.)
JPiolho0 I love the look of this game. The HUD is simple, clean and out of the way it looks nice too. Keep up the good work looking forward to it.

CrashLemon: FPS is a none linear measurement and is not as important as you might think. Now Frametime however is crucial. When optimising code programmers will pay more attention to the frame time (time it takes to process that frame) in comparison to how many frames are being rendered that second. Yes FPS can be an indication of performance but once it reaches a certain point it is not useful any more. Also Lua as a script which interfaces with a lower level language will be bad on performance anyway (most scripts like this are about 10 times slower than languages such as C++.)

No idea. When I started Half-Life 1 mod I needed a name so I started thinking and well Mid-Age came out. Although Midage sounded better than Mid-Age, i kept that one. When I started working on the Garry's Mod 10 I've put it Midage : Gmod, since there is the common name on the mods that are converted to HL2: "xxxxx : Source", I've made it the same for "xxxxx : Gmod" :V

Well, our maps will have LOTS of trees so the FPS would have been a problem for a certain amount of the players,
and we also took into consideration that some pc's will be able to handle them,
therefore we added the function to set the tree-rendering distance!
That way players with low-end computers will be able to enjoy the game,
and if you have a high-end computer you can just set the
tree-rendering distance to 99999999 and enjoy the trees as much as you want.
Best regards

What I mean is that most of the coders out there don't try to make their gamemode as optimized as they can, infact, they often try to achieve what they want to make as fast as possible ( using the easy, often bad, methods ).
I'm an amateur coder but I do take try to make my code use as less processing power as I can (depending on my knowledge and patience). I said FPS because I wanted to give a general idea.
Playing a Shooter gamemode with 15-30 FPS is just annoying even if this one's gameplay and graphics are awesome.
This looks great, would you consider a mount system? Riding big antlions or antlion bulls for instance?
P.s: If you get me addicted to another MMORPG, I'M GOING TO SUE

Mounts have been discussed and will most likely be a feature ;-)
But its highly unlikely that the mounts will be any hl2 creature, since we want to have the midage style and we want our work to be original :)
I would like to help modeling although I'm not such a pro, objects should be easy.
Also my texturing sucks.
Just a question... Do you have any intentions to make a fully waterbased map for like a Runescape Trawler Minigame of sort?
I'm speechless. This is incredible. I can't wait to play.

So far we plan to complete Aralands and Mt. Araliel.
Another point we have to discuss is the story, and what the continent will be like.
Looks very cool, nice job.
Its Looks Greate Nice work and good luck getting it out hope it be bigger then DarkRP or Survival :D
and like chill says mounts will be greate if you cut make eny, a new model to a antlion so it looks like a horse or something but if you will make some more thinks to do like hunting like makeing a new weapon make Crossbow skin so its look like a Bow or make a new Crossbow or makeing houses or something so you can actually build two cities and go to war against each other it is the way you want that will be greate and some armor so when you are in PVP its not all about Weapon But armor too
ALL WAYS READY TO BETA TEST JUST SEND A MAIL TO christofferlarsen5700@hotmail.com
^ XD
I'd personally would also like to beta test, but too bad. Anyway, good job with it and good luck. Looking good.
