Actually, that CPU will be hard to get by, but I found two of these Intel Xeon 5160 @ 2 x 3.0Ghz on eBay right away for a total of $26,44 USD which is approx 162 NOK shipping included in price calculation. The seller is top rated aswell, so you don't have to worry at all.
Here's the link to the product on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Server-Pair-...item4acf7b1c56
That is a very good price.
You are amazing! I just bought it! Thanks for your great advice and taking time to help me!
You're acting really entitled, just because you are new doesn't necessarily mean that anyone posting here had to be nice to you. If someone is a good coder they will create their own server rather than falling into a trap.
Are you 12? Stop being an asshole. Someone's being nice for once and you just decide to be a dick about it? Real mature.
On topic: I hope you get a decent co-owner, you're the nicest person on FP I've seen on a while that isn't a total idiot or such.

that was like 10 posts ago, I stopped posting why do you bring it up even though they seem to be having a productive discussion?
Well, what do you plan to contribute to the project, OP? What skills are you bringing to the table?
This would be interesting, would love to help :)

Thank you! I am still looking for a co-owner, but plenty of people have shown interest! And even better , plenty of people have given me advice on things i didnt know!
To be honest, I agree with Johnny.
It seems like you haven't brought much to the table other than some basic addons that anyone can get. The most you're doing it feels like is just hosting it, and relying on this coder to do most of the work. Not to mention DarkRP is overplayed as all hell and no matter the server, always ends up the same, especially if the majority of it is all addons that other servers have (from workshop and coderhire).
I also despise some of the things you've said in this thread.
i am new to Facepunch and instead of giving me this welcome you should be nice to me and ask before you start being rude.
You don't have to have anyone be nice to you. He disliked your idea and made that clear, not everyone will be appeased by the almighty idea of a DarkRP server.
if not the goals are achieved in 3-4 months time it will be shut down and the server will be sold.
So any work that might have been done, taken the time to plan and figure out would just be for naut, other than the fact that they could release/sell it, if you don't do that off the bat.
(mark this as dumb and you will slowly drown to death next time you go for a swim)
Very mature. Great introduction for one who wants to attract people. But I guess I'll drown to death slowly for my box.
I never understood the point of selling the server if the 'goals' aren't achieved.
Add me on steam actually. I'm thelastpenguin (same name) though I don't have much time I'd be interested in helping you out a bit and can offer some advice with coding and darkrp.
DarkRP was the first gamemode I worked with when I was about 11 and spent about 4 years coding it (by now I essentially know the gamemode and every function in it inside-out)
I've single handedly created two successful communities from scratch (first when i was 11 now called TPS but i'm no longer with it and another called LPS which no longer runs darkrp... 4 years got a bit tiresome) so I know a fair bit about the process you're going through.
NOTE: this isn't an offer to code just to stear you in the right direction, I have too much on my plate right now with 2 gamemodes and 2 servers I'm deving concurrently.
Nice datacenter.
Cool facepunch doesn´t like my mac so everything i wrote is gone. Anyways. Thanks penguin!! I really appreciate every help i could get and i will add you as soon i get to my computer. Obviously i am going to trash this mac.

what's wrong with a mac?
what's wrong with a mac?
You've been a pain in the ass since this thread was started, just leave it at that unless you have something of value to spit out.

It´s a mac, what isn´t.

Agree.. And thanks!

ok
i just hope whoever fell for this, including yourself visits this thread sometime in the future and realized how retarded it was to pair up with someone like the OP, and if any actual Lua scripter signed on, I hope you realize how much money you could actually make without pairing up with a kid like this.

oh man, macs are so bad because they are mainstream!!!
What trap? The trap of education and a free server that they could host whatever they want on for free saving alot of money. Mac sucks because it have the stability of my grandmohter. And since i made this thread you haven´t done anything than constantly answering bs to everyone, which means you don´t work nor go to schoo, which means you are probably a no-life wannabe person that tries to act cool over the internet, while in real life lives in his mothers basement.
I find it funny. Johhny is just telling people about how he thinks this is a bad idea, and you attack his character.
You're very immature, constantly calling him things that you don't even have any basis to do so. On top of this, people who work for your "community" will spend most of their time bug-fixing than actually coding anything new.
Obviously you can´t read. I don´t constantly call him things. And how do you know that? Fixing what bugs? I am curious. It looks like you know more about my server than me.
Obviously you can´t read.
Case and point proven.
I don't think you understand kevin
The only people content with "free admin!!!" for doing coding jobs is only children with power fetishes.
You offer nothing, literally 0. You know 0 lua, and most likely arent that good with networking and such. Working with you is worse than working alone.

I have to agree with you here. Sorry but I have had my fair share of working with people who are just 'idea guys'. But none the less, I suggest you get some content, and some pictures to gain peoples interest. Most people won't put them selves out there if they don't think it will be worth it, this is also why most coders prefer working on their own.
Best of luck.

I don't think you understand either, i read thishttp://www.lua.org/pil/ and i know basic lua. But that isn't the point here. I offer a chance to learn with me, and i ask a person with the same skills as me. I know alot of networking, but handling 2 businesses, school and a darkrp server isn't something i could do. This isn't a coding job. This is a co-owner "job". Darkrp is made in a way even a child could set up the server, and i love it even though i am no child.
I already said what i am offering. A place to learn, a chance to become a co-owner of a server worth 2000$+ with no expenses and so on. That is a great offer i think. For me it's like giving away 1000$. Plus i have to pay 200$ a month only in bandwidth and power expenses. A co-owner would be able to host everything he wants on this server, even he's own websites if he wishes so.
I offer something.
I know enough lua.
This is a project not a fulltime job. But anyways thanks for saying yours.
