Sunrise is a gamemode that tries to be like EVE Online. Ships and mining and shit, mostly.
And there have been three or so versions of it, all of which seem to have died.

In my opinion, DarkRP died shortly after it was made. It just gathered way more hype than it should have and is now in a perpetual cycle of people trying to make it fun. I doubt it will ever succeed.
Though it may never succeed, we should be thankful of it's creation. It's keeping around 50% of all the minges on GMod away from the bigger servers, hence the survival and success of some communities.

Sunrise was, as pointed before, basically EVE Online fans trying to make the game in Gmod. It worked well for a while, but gameplay problems associated with MMOs creeped into play and the mod simply became a grindfest - spend hours/days mining for a new ship just to lose it within a couple minutes to a pirate (which often was some admin minging) was not many people's idea of fun.
It works in EVE because there is the actual MMO to it. I don't remember sunrise having more than 12 people on it at any one time, which kind of defeated the point.
Good in theory, but this kind of game mode simply cannot stay interesting to the Gmod community unless something is done about the grind - at which point it kind of loses its original focus. This is a good thing.
Raven, the issue we have is not the fact that you want to make a game mode, but the fact that you seem to think that releasing a game mode that has very little different to a mode that failed due to generally boring game play is going to succeed. You need to spicen things up a bit, remove a fair whack of the grind as well.
You keep at it and show us its not going to be just another boring Sunrise, and you'll get the credit you deserve. Until then, you're doing the equivalent of bumping a two year old topic. Something we all frown upon.
Grind around mining, not much you can do about that unless you provide access to either DMing people, or add a whole new field to the economy, aka manufacturing. Then that gives need to a trade system, which then requires things to actually TRADE, which requires thought, balancing, and all of a sudden you're coming up with ideas faster than anything.
Wait...where was I going with this? I suppose to take the focus off the grind, the implementation of these would prove at least a good starting point.
-- Trade system, for merchants.
-- Manufacturing, possibly cheaper weaponry.
-- Market Stocks, weapons running out, stockpiling, playing the market, etc.
-- Mining being more profitable, sell collected minerals to the highest bidder.
-- Classes (OMG CLASSES, AHHHHH), limit access of certain items to certain classes, maybe a skill tree?
That's about all I can come up with :/.

New Era was my gamemode, Outer Edge started as a leaked version of new era that the sql file proves (they had no clue how to create a good sql structure or how mysql worked.

Another gamemode yet to wear the name of Sunrise, Oh boy are we going to have a field day today... Look kiddies.. The Reason it was stopped in the first place is because how hard it was to keep updating and running so as a former member of the Orignal and Outer Edge Communitys of Previous Sunrises's i would like to say something...
Just let Sunrise die please, It's had a good fight but there is a time to just let some things fade away into the dust and this is one of those things.
If it runs then i will gladly take this back but until then i'm sticking by what i have just said as i have witnessed the previous Sunrise's rise and fall, Outer Edge was the most sucessful of the most and the Orginal being the worse as it never got to a beta.
So please, just give Sunrise a death worth remembing

I have been busy. Team members coding was moving like a snail. Were getting pictures within the week

I would play but that game took away to much of my life and the grinding i hate it
Im Trying my best no to flame but theres really no point in keeping sunrise updated/Extended since cosmos is near compleation... also witch one did use? Maw's or Slim's OuterEdge? I cant remember if he released it.
I don't even know if Cosmos is still in production ._., eh whatever, I'll stick with the one by Chrissiejjj.
