So, I've put a lot of work into building a server for DarkRP that is a bit different then most, I've been to.
I'm going to say I've done everything I can to make it unique, and full of new ideas and the right spunk, but that of course has yet to be decided by players.
Now comes the question.. Other then going into other servers and asking people (which I feel is a dirty way to get players), how would I go about the right way of advertising? I'm by far not a Jerk so, I'd like to take a formal and acceptable way into gaining a starting line. I'm sure this site is inappropriate but please understand this is a question to be pointed in the right direction.
As you can see, I haven't posted any defining info of my server. Just the big question. I just want to get started, correctly.

I've been looking for a DarkRp server that, you know, is actually roleplay. I know this is tabboo territory for Facepunch; but what makes you server different?
To answer your question, you have a choice. You can advertise using all methods possible to create the epitome of minge spam and you will keep adding addons and donator perks to please the kiddies as your server spirals down into nothingness... Or you can make a private server with some friends or willing people to help from this and maybe other forums.
Don't advertise unless you want a minge factory churning out new ways to propkill.
I would play on it if it didnt have shitty admins and allowed me to use E2 without having to be a higher rank
I could go through a laundry list of what makes the server unique, and as for E2, I can stay open minded, right now I just have Key padded Fading doors with the allowance to set a timer, and standard features.
And that's available to all. Can I convince you by inviting you two, just to take a look. And if you don't like it, I won't beg. As for SpinBlocker.. I'd have a lot to explain, I'll have to PM you all the new things (and when I say new, I mean exclusive), that make it unique. A lot of hard work, indeed.

To be honest, as long as it is minge-free with non-abusive admins, has legitimate roleplay, and has none of that shitty pay to win shit, I'm game. A clean HUD would be nice to, but don't load it down with shit from coderhire or the workshop. I don't need addons, I just need a small group of people I can have fun with.

I just had a neat idea. Sorry for double posting, but I had an idea. Maybe you should only put pistols and glocks on the server and keep the rest melee if you want weapons at all. Too many guns steers the gameplay to a 'cops & robbers' style, which [I]every[/I] other server has. Just an idea though.
Also, will there be money printers? I'm not all that fond of them, but they're fine. If not, what will be the prime income method?
And if it is not going to be in the future PM you send me, may I have a list of the current jobs?

Patience, be active in your server a lot for the first days/weeks. In time they will come.
Just make sure your server doesn't become a minge shitstorm and in due time people will come to it.
Well, I hate to burts the big bubble, but this is an adaptation of Cops, robbers, raids, as a base theme.
New features include a neutral class, called "Serial Killer" which has had a module written specifically to make the serial Killer job unique, only to the player that is. It comes with a complete system built specifically to balance the job out, with a benefit gain (a way to make money) and server rules(stay out zones), that make the job a standalone entertaining and interesting thing.
Its also non-VIP, with of course an additional balance of "vote required" use.
Also, there's a "Declare War" feature, unique and exclusive (complex and brand new, easy to use).
This has all the basics and a new layer of a few things exclusive not mentioned, with minimal download to the client. I am seeking a non shitty admin team, but for now this is a near solo-job.
I've put a lot of thought into it, and there's even vehicles, that once purchased, save to the server (and for realism, can be destroyed with the right ammount of fire power. not to mention, the player isn't nil from taking damage while driving or crashing.) A lot of the stuff that player would want to enjoy, is available, even without VIP. VIP isn't gonna cost more then 5 and all it grants is a few extra's that don't stifle or create an unfair advantage, so if a player wants to win without VIP, they can.
I think everyone should have the same fair shot at something in a server. That's it, in a nutshell.

I've seen minge controlled with the right kind of people behind the admin wheel. I'm a right kind of person, but I would be lying through my teeth if i said I couldn't use a few admins under my belt.
since i don't know any people, I plan to beta launch the server (take it off of pass protection), and get a few friends together for the weekend in hopes to meet new players, and find grown ass adults that would be wiling and interested in trying out for an admin slot.
If all goes well, i plan to baby it into full launch. I know these types of things don't happen overnight.
But I put together quite a lot on my own.

I worked my way up to owner in 2 months on TKZ Build to Kill a while ago, but im only 16. so i dont fit the "Grown Ass Adult" Criteria xD
I meant people that aren't 12, and every server is different. The people that run servers are made up of different groups. I could use Admins, but I don't know about "owner". lol.

I don't plan on having a bunch of Donate ranks, where people fork a bit off cash to start feeling in charge. I feel that's senseless. Owner rank, really serves no purpose. In fact, any server only really calls the 3 ranks I mentioned. I commend ya, but you'd only make it up to Admin, as I don't use an "Owner" Rank. It'd take a coder, with a lot of experience and a level head to possibly fit the shoes (through hard work) as Server Partner. But I don't plan to have a bunch of people running around with an admin stick and big balls. I see too much of that.
I've got the server up today. I'm taking "YourStalker"'s advice, and simply waiting to see what the day brings. I'd post Server name and such, but I'm not sure if that's like.. against the rules of the forum.

Good for you, the old community I was with was empty for a month, shut down three times, and after about 5 months it started get ting players. After about 8 months it nearly broke top 100. I started a new server now but that just proves that patience is key.
so after reading the rules, I've decided i'm going to go the big bang route, and Frap gameplay, grasping visual aspects of all the nifty things, and see if i can compile a in depth but simple, explanatory montage with all the right bells and whistles.
