127.0.0.1
I am not amused...
I keep confusing michael and uso, due to default avatars. Can you explain why the slots are so cheap? It seems too good to be true. EDIT: Also do you block .dll files being uploaded by clients? That you do it yourself upon request and knowlege that the dll is safe. This concerning garrysmod servers primarily. As well as running each client's servers in separate states or however I should word that. Xenonservers provides both of those features to ensure that your server cannot be compromised by another customer.
Give us the IP please...
Hey guys. Recently I've invested in a few server boxes. I have a GUI that is similar to Xenon's, the TCadmin. Because I am only starting out, I need some first customers. If you were to buy some slots, you would undoubtedly have unmatched bandwidth speed as you and possibly a few others are the only servers running on the box. As of now, no website is available. Price is 20 cents per slot. You will receive the FTP address and TDadmin web page immediately after you pay. I've tried running build darkrp servers with 124 people. Absolutely no lag came in to play with about ~50 props each person.
Source crashes if you go above 2048 entities. 124 x 50 is over six thousand. You're lying.
You say the server can handle 124 players, with ~50 props per person. Source literally CAN'T handle more than 64, it bugs the fuck out and all goes to hell. Second, that would equal to around 6000 props. That's just a tiny bit over the entity limit source has. (2048 I believe) And all this without any lag? :colbert: [editline]11:07PM[/editline] God damn ninja ffff
If garry raises the source enity limit it wouldn't crash maybe someone should record it if you run a server that full. And yes it will lag unless your one with a computer that doesn't normally feel lag..

It's not meant for mass physics, it meant for increasing detail in a scene. [editline]11:15PM[/editline] And the entity limit is hardcoded in the engine, it's not simply changing a number.
127.0.0.1
I lol'd.
Source crashes if you go above 2048 entities. 124 x 50 is over six thousand. You're lying.
No. I'm not. Metal plates, airplane models and many other models with high polygon count were blacklisted. Source doesn't crash with more than 2048 props, it crashes when a high polygon count is reached, which happens to average 2048. At the time, the 128 slot server was the ONLY server that ran on the box. It used up all of its CPU, but lag wasn't experienced. Have you ever heard of cross server rendering? It's an efficient way of ghosting props into 2d mode, so only when you phys gun it do the prop become collidable. Other than that, it's just a frozen, mindless prop. And yes, we can do dlls. And the reason the servers are so cheap is stated. It's my first box, it might have some crashes/burns due to still being new and all, but all problems should be fixed by a month or two.
And you want and try to compete with xenonservers always low prices? at xenon $0.35/mo per slot. Sounds to me like you want to get customers for the hell of it. For selling at 15cents cheaper
I don't think I'll ever get as big as xenon personally. I'd like to keep a small community with 100-300 servers before I even consider going big. I'd probably raise the price to 30cents max then. I guess I am asking for competition by xenon...

You assure a guy at the top of the thread that the speedtest taken last january is still accurate. So you've had the internet plan to host servers like this since that time. If that's the case, why did you offer to buy a 32 slot server four days ago, rather than host it yourself? Also, you say that source crashes at 2048 on average due to poly counts. That is outright bullshit, the entity count is controlled by -num_edicts. Clients would have to have the value set to 6,000 on startup, to do your claim I quoted on the previous page of 50 props per 124 users each. As well as the server. The server doesn't care how many polygons exist. I'm not doubting the hardware, I'm saying that you lied about testing it to do such. I say this because you just showed that you do not infact know about the entity limit, therefore you never could have set the edict number either. OP is a too-good-to-be-true scam, run away.
pictures with timestamps, ASAP.

OP is a too-good-to-be-true scam, run away.
Ugh, I'm absolutely tired of this. Yes, we, as in my community, as in other administrators of the server hoster. If you've read the thread, the 5$ thing was a joke. There was no way he'd give me 32 slots for 5$ while other people had 10 slots for 5$ too. Props on my server are ghosted when you're not touching them. This tells the server where and when the prop is nocollided, but the prop isn't actually there. Its like when you first see PHX3 models without PHX3 installed. They're errors, bur it could be a 32x32. You keep getting bounced back. Once again, I am just starting on this server. My main goal is to attract people, not to earn money yet. Oh and, I'm receiving cash by papal. Do you know how easy it is to open a dispute and get your money back? Countless sellers have been scammed this way, where they would ship the item, and get their money taken away from them, even if they had proof that they shipped it. Even if I were to scam you, you could open a dispute and paypal would most likely close my account.
I do not get bounced back; you are ignoring the point. Source crashes, END OF STORY if the edict limit is surpassed, which you did not set to 6,000+. It is not a debate of hardware, it is that source thinks that something is wrong if the edict limit overflows, and closes itself.

I'll just leave before I get over involved in this saying that if you trust this guy, you deserve what you get.
How would you know they don't? I called them and asked them specifically for a server plan. Verizon doesn't advertise server plans, because that would be a waste of advertisement space. My plan was optimized for server hosting. The connection I'm currently on isn't my servers. I have 2 internet plans running to and from my house. Get your facts straight before criticizing with false information.
Oh, gee I don't know. Oh wait, yes I do! I used to have a verizon fios business line because I used to host servers through them - there is no such thing as a "server plan". Prove it, show us the unmodified speedtest still hosted on speedtest.net that has 80Mbps upload with verizon in the name. [editline]09:18PM[/editline] Also, I still don't see that test file I was promised almost half a day ago. What happened, did you gasp forget?
<entity limit and stuff>
This, and also: This is lagging very badly just trying to run 128 players, let alone props.
It used up all of its CPU
Source runs a main thread, and then a network thread, (probably a few more, but negligible impact on CPU usage). You barely ever see the impact of anything other than the main thread, and likewise, you'll rarely see more than one core being used fully. Basically, it's impossible for one server to use up all the CPU on that box.
You never even posted the IP
